Thanks Kimberly, you should try the Great White Shark diving in South Australia with Rodney Fox too - one day I'll get round to putting that video up!
Please post more videos of whale diving. Thanks so much for these videos. I loved my first every trip for whale watching in Alaska. Sydney, Gold Coast and Cairns are considered to be the most amazing places to go diving with whales. However, what you've posted is something unbelievable and with such good music. Keep uploading mate!
Thanks! No more whale diving, but some of dolphins, manatees, sea lions and Great White sharks that I must put up too! Tried swimming with humpbacks in Tonga, but no luck. C'est le vie!
@EasternSeaWolf Baleen whales are usually very shy, but the Minke whales are the opposite! They are very active and curious! They behave much more like dolphins than properly whales. They porpoise, breach, spyhop and sometimes bowride. They are the "childish" species of the baleen whales. Very fascinating animals.
@Guilhaz1 I'm aware please don't lesson me... Thanks though. It's just that on our whale watching boats they are not as active as we would like. The humpbacks are fun though. But I always love to see the Minkes.
@Guilhaz1 They are defiantly not the "childish" whales and it is RARE to see a minke porpoise, breach, spyhop and or bowride. The minke whales on Stellwagen bank are fast moving and hard to track. They pay no attention to the whale watching boats. (probably because they've seen them many times) These are two different population we are talking about North Atlantic and Australian(even different species Balaenoptera acutorostrata and Balaenoptera bonaerensis). That might explain things.
@EasternSeaWolf Yes, there is a certain degree of relativity here. Even though they are not as active as other cetaceans, Minke whales are actually the most active species of the baleen whales.
@EasternSeaWolf And agreed on the fact that they are probably used to the presence of the whale watching boats, but for example, Minke Whales that live in Antartica love boats and they are very curious towards them.
Very nice video of these whales. I am just about to book a week long trip to dive with them next year. Your video helps me a good deal! Thanks for making it available.
They are fantastic trips - very well controlled, you feel there is no interference with the whales lives. No chasing them in boats, you just float and wait for them to check you out!! Great diving too when the minkes aren't there, although we got surrounded by them at a safety stop ;-)
i was kaaking at fraser island australia and 2 humbacks came into the jetty area and checked out my kayak truely humbling these animals are self aware no doubt about it
I cant believe anyone would kill such a beautiful creature!!!!
