The biggest shame of this wasn't even the loss but pretty much the end of Stevens career. He was a shadow of himself after this season, whether it was the hit, the drug problems later or maybe he simply wasn't good enough without the talent around him in pittsburgh.

@fan40 That is a tough one, but I think these were very sharp jerseys and would edge the Blackhawk ones, but this is strictly a matter of taste. The Blackhawks sweater is indeed tough to beat.

It just seemed something weird was in the air when Isles played the Pens. I guess the Isles weren't scared or intimidated by them. And once Kevin Stevens got hurt, it left you to wonder. And if they had one this game, how rested do you think they would have been having to play the Habs who were on a roll at the time?

What a waste of an incredible season and lineup. A team with Lemieux, Jagr, Francis, Mullen, Murphy, Stevens, Barrasso... and they lost.

I was 10 at the time and couldn't see the TV broadcast of the game that night but I listened on the radio... after Volek scored in OT I bawled my damn eyes out.

They are the nicest jerseys that you guys ever have had. I swear, those "Fisherman" jerseys that you had in 1995-96 were UGLY! One of these days, John Tavares could save the Islanders like Mario Lemieux did with us (Penguins). Hope you guys get a new arena in the future.

Those Fisherman jerseys were the worst jerseys ever made in the NHL, I agree, unfortunatley. But the group that did that did that to strictly make a quick buck off the Isles. When they couldn't come up with any more schemes or buy the land around the Coliseum, they sold it.

Our third jersey will be our permanant jersey next season and they are bringing back the tradition white one as well. The Isles will arguably have the nicest jerseys in the league.

Tavares has a long way to go.

Tavares will mature into a FINE All Star like my boy Sidney Crosby, and yes Alex Ovechkin later these days. What do you think about those alternate Orange jerseys? I think those were fugly as hell if I do say so myself. With those current jerseys you guys have, you should feel like you're in the days of Denis Potvin, Billy Smith, Bryan Trottier, and Mike Bossy. Had it not been for that idiot Mike Milbury, the Islanders wouldn't have suffered so bad. But no, you guys still have 4 Cups.

I liked them, I thought they looked a little "Dallas Stars-esk" because they did what the Stars did and made that design on the side of the jersey. But I like loud colors and it definitely was loud. I would wear that before I wear the Rangers 1970's 50th anniversary sweater, it looked like a Winnipeg Jets knock off.

I would not go that far, this team is no where as good as that team was. You are talking about the BEST in nearly every position.
