Kubrick INSISTED that that couldn't be done because the position of the stars could be EASILY checked by any astronomer or even a novice with an atom of sense.
It was simply too complicated to fake.
So...the stars were left out.
Subsequently, there are NO stars in space.
(According to Nasa Apollo flight command.)

Yes! I really enjoyed finding the photo of the A10 crew, in front of the 'moon' doing the see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil, monkey poses. It speaks volumes about how they felt about what was required of them to do their Apollo (con) 'job'. BTW, the last shot is them being shown where they were to hide during the launch. Under pad 39b, safe in case the rocket exploded on launch.
I'm so dissapointed in the majority of humanity being so easy to fool!!!
