Well, you're entitled to that opinion, but remember, he's not trying to disrespectful. He's an artist, and he's trying to make an artistic statement. The flag is a form of artistic expression itself, and if he wants to use it to make a statement, that's his right. It doesn't mean he hates America, or thinks that your service wasn't brave and honorable, he's just trying to say something about the status of America and it's role in the world.

I should have expected it, but Bono lost major points in my book for using the flag like a rag, and leaving it on the floor. WTF? I wouldn't do that to another countries flag, and I didn't expect to pay good money to see my flag disrespected like that. I know nobody cares about the country anymore, but I still do.
@wheeler1775 omg another american who supports their troops. he's being kind you stupid yank, be glad he touches it, and why should he walk with it or something like that?
When I was in the pit in Hampden prk for the show the sound did seem to echo a little some times but on whole a magic concert. Can't wait to Glastonbury Yipee dreams do happen.
There is always trouble when trying to get good sound both for recordings and also for those there.
U2's first concern would have been those who would have paid to see the live show and the sound most definately was built for that and especially as the Rose Bowl is huge there was always going to be a struggle making the sound transgress from concert to recording.
I wasn't there, but i'm sure it sounded great there.
@joefarsenal oh I have no doubt the sound was perfect at the ACTUAL gig as U2 are pioneers in that department, I just think it was pretty inept by Youtube, or whoever controlled this, to not give us the quality sound that the hundreds of thousands in the stadium were getting. Just sounded like the sound was recorded from the microphone in a camera.
This concert is amazing. Bono said to a brazilian channel that it was one of their best concerts ever. They were so excited about, that they went to the recording studio and recorded 3 songs. They should release this concert in both audio/dvd formats.

For a lot of bands with fanbases of this age, it's the case unfortunately. It's like watching a movie to these people, the fan/artist interaction is more or less stripped away in every way.
No ! It's really an irish flag. On the italian flag the colors are green white, red. Here the colors are green white and orange, so it's an irish flag.
well if you were a big time performer and were trying to entertain 60,000 people and you had an item thrown at you, that wouldnt get you a little bit angry, or just say i have to stay focused?
Wathever is the flag, every intelligent singer would not walk on the flag, fisrt to don't take istlef feet on ! And you know Bono can't take the flag each time a fan send a irish flag on the stage ...

I was there, and trust me the crowd was into the entire show. I think that because they recorded the show for the DVD that it is hard to hear the crowd.
I was at this show. Don't get me wrong, U2 is my favorite band, but the stadium was so huge and the stage was so wide that you couldn't help but feel distant from the band. Our seats were not bad at all behind the stage, but I was mostly watching the screens because the band just didn't come by to us. I think people were more impressed by the stage than the performances.
Thats a normal fact when U2 is playing in one of world's hughest stadium. More than 100.000 people where at The Rose Bowl, it's really big, it's normal.. But it must have been a great experience? No?
It was good, definitely not a bad experience. I think I was slightly disappointed because I had built up in my head for 7 months that it was going to be some mind-blowing epic show (my first U2 concert). I still love the band though. Got my tickets for next year, this time GA!
idk i kind of like bono's speeches i think it gave the music more of an edge. yea i guess some people get tired of i becuase they dont agree with it or just dont care but when he would give a speech or say "no more" i thought that was badass i just think it gives me and maybe other people a different perspective on things
the edge is soo cool ith his hat n his 1 million foot pedals soo is adam his stance is amazing while he pays the bass so is larry n the guy with sunglasses hus singin hus he? lol U2 R THE COOLEST BAND EVER!!
He just made the face becuase they werent really tight on that song. Not a whole lot of energy. They have done better. In addition the ending was a little rough
Bono's a bit of a pest and a nuisance for all us irish(pay ur country the tax u owe it ya greedy bastard!) but I love U2 gr8 band altough I dunno how the edge has gotten away with playing the same note for 30 years in all honesty like
@rebelred1001 are you tellin me that if you had the chance not to pay any tax, you wud still pay it anyway? wud you fuck! you wud do the exact same as bono, as wud anybody with half a brain.
You do realise that Bono and the rest of the band still pay MILLIONS of tax to Ireland? They live there...
The only part of their tax moved to the Netherlands is the ROYALTIES. Everything else is still in Ireland.
So the greedy bastard does pay tax, and with that WAY more than you do.
I could reply to your cute little dig on Edge, but I hope by reading it yourself you'll realise how stupid you are showing to be. Don't take this as an insult, please take it more like some friendly advise.
I'd be interested to hear what you have to say in response to his "dig on Edge." Because he makes a very valid point. 90% of U2 fans (myself included) just want to hear the music, not Bono's personal political opinions. We don't give a fuck. I applaud the Edge for saying that, I also applaud him for being just as talented if not more so than bono.
Finally, someone who sess it. As residents the member of u2 still pay tax to Ireland. Furthermore, often decisions likes this are taken by the music companies not the bands themselves, and even so, who cares if u2 pay tax to the netherlands, last time I checked The Netherlands is one of the most enlightened nations on earth, perhaps they are deserving of u2's revenue to further their strives towards utopia
At what point did musicans feel that the world gives a rats ass about their politcal ideals? (im not referring to this song, but i mean the way bono comes across when he gives his rants)
Maybe if he spent more time on his music and less on his image, I would be able to think of more than 3 U2 songs that qualifiy as decent.
Ha. 3 u2 songs that qualify as decent. Ur crazy man. I can name 60 that are better than anything else I have ever heard and 20 that are the greatest songs of all time. Get the wax out of ur ears and respect Bono cause no one else comes close.
with or without you, where the streets have no name, i still havent found what im looking for, one, the sweetest thing, mysterious ways, walk on, stuck in a moment you cant get out of, city of blinding lights, i threw a brick through a window, new years day, pride, sunday bloody, angel of harlem and im missing so many more
bono has he head so far stuck up he's own arse lately, he needs to cop on, even us irish are sick of him. just sing the song's with real heart and the way people feel in love with it... i would walk out if he fucked around like that. he knows where he would get away with it.... and those 30 minute political sppeches, stfu we wann hear the music, not g to a UN meeting.
@arsenalylknw1 im irish and im far from sick of bono and i wouldnt say im the only one. if you dont want to hear his speeches, heres an idea, dont listen.
what ? if i buy a ticket to a u2 concert, i want to hear what i pay for on the numerous albums i have bought. do you think he would have gotten away with that in the early 80's when they were coming up? even the edge said he was sick of bono just spontaneously breaking into political speeches. people pay for the music, not an evening with bono.
@arsenalylknw1 iv been to the last to c them their last 3 tours, slane 2001, croke park 2005 and croke park 2009 and not once did bono go on about politics. and even if he did i dont think that anybody would notice because the shows that they put on are something else. and another thing, anybody who leaves a u2 concert giving out about bonos speeches needs there head checking.

i think bono must do some heavy drugs before each show to act like this. What the hell is wrong with him? Ever heard of just singing the song and working the crowd that way. he's the sole reason why i hate this band.
Yeah I was at Croke Park. Was really good but I later went to Cardiff and that was awesome - best gig i've ever been to. Seems a different gig watching this
Its Not for Iran . It's lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed civil rights marchers. Along with New Year's Day. By the way
btw if u open ur eyes at the begingin of show u can c the fukin screen of green women and farsi(perssian) writing things about iran, if its for that its for Iran too Open ur eyes u can c it
Dude, After the struggle in Iran this song was dedicated to the people of Iran..... I know bc I am PERSIAN and I can read the writings on the screen which are in Persian, NOT Arabic, and I can also recognize the pictures which belong to Iran bc I have seen them thousands of times!!!! Now what do you have to say???
The American flag means different things to a soldier than a civilian, such as support our troops means the troops, not the war in the middle east. But this is a tight song.
The Live version is the best ! The mp3 isn't that great =D !

He just made the face becuase they werent really tight on that song. Not a whole lot of energy. They have done better. In addition the ending was a little rough

Bono's a bit of a pest and a nuisance for all us irish(pay ur country the tax u owe it ya greedy bastard!) but I love U2 gr8 band altough I dunno how the edge has gotten away with playing the same note for 30 years in all honesty like
rebelred1001 2 years ago
@rebelred1001 are you tellin me that if you had the chance not to pay any tax, you wud still pay it anyway? wud you fuck! you wud do the exact same as bono, as wud anybody with half a brain.
collinsjon 2 years ago
You do realise that Bono and the rest of the band still pay MILLIONS of tax to Ireland? They live there...
The only part of their tax moved to the Netherlands is the ROYALTIES. Everything else is still in Ireland.
So the greedy bastard does pay tax, and with that WAY more than you do.
I could reply to your cute little dig on Edge, but I hope by reading it yourself you'll realise how stupid you are showing to be. Don't take this as an insult, please take it more like some friendly advise.
Galeongirl 2 years ago 2
I'd be interested to hear what you have to say in response to his "dig on Edge." Because he makes a very valid point. 90% of U2 fans (myself included) just want to hear the music, not Bono's personal political opinions. We don't give a fuck. I applaud the Edge for saying that, I also applaud him for being just as talented if not more so than bono.
cbrandom 2 years ago
Where did he say anything about that in the post I replied to?
He claims Edge has gotten away with playing the same note for 30 years, where does this have anything to do with Bono and his boring speeches?
I don't give a shit about Bono's politics. I'm GLAD they're mostly gone compared to the Vertigo tour.
Galeongirl 2 years ago
Finally, someone who sess it. As residents the member of u2 still pay tax to Ireland. Furthermore, often decisions likes this are taken by the music companies not the bands themselves, and even so, who cares if u2 pay tax to the netherlands, last time I checked The Netherlands is one of the most enlightened nations on earth, perhaps they are deserving of u2's revenue to further their strives towards utopia
u2atomicbomb 2 years ago
At what point did musicans feel that the world gives a rats ass about their politcal ideals? (im not referring to this song, but i mean the way bono comes across when he gives his rants)
Maybe if he spent more time on his music and less on his image, I would be able to think of more than 3 U2 songs that qualifiy as decent.
yallgotnecrack 2 years ago
Ha. 3 u2 songs that qualify as decent. Ur crazy man. I can name 60 that are better than anything else I have ever heard and 20 that are the greatest songs of all time. Get the wax out of ur ears and respect Bono cause no one else comes close.

with or without you, where the streets have no name, i still havent found what im looking for, one, the sweetest thing, mysterious ways, walk on, stuck in a moment you cant get out of, city of blinding lights, i threw a brick through a window, new years day, pride, sunday bloody, angel of harlem and im missing so many more

bono has he head so far stuck up he's own arse lately, he needs to cop on, even us irish are sick of him. just sing the song's with real heart and the way people feel in love with it... i would walk out if he fucked around like that. he knows where he would get away with it.... and those 30 minute political sppeches, stfu we wann hear the music, not g to a UN meeting.
arsenalylknw1 2 years ago
@arsenalylknw1 im irish and im far from sick of bono and i wouldnt say im the only one. if you dont want to hear his speeches, heres an idea, dont listen.
collinsjon 2 years ago
what ? if i buy a ticket to a u2 concert, i want to hear what i pay for on the numerous albums i have bought. do you think he would have gotten away with that in the early 80's when they were coming up? even the edge said he was sick of bono just spontaneously breaking into political speeches. people pay for the music, not an evening with bono.
arsenalylknw1 2 years ago
@arsenalylknw1 iv been to the last to c them their last 3 tours, slane 2001, croke park 2005 and croke park 2009 and not once did bono go on about politics. and even if he did i dont think that anybody would notice because the shows that they put on are something else. and another thing, anybody who leaves a u2 concert giving out about bonos speeches needs there head checking.

i think bono must do some heavy drugs before each show to act like this. What the hell is wrong with him? Ever heard of just singing the song and working the crowd that way. he's the sole reason why i hate this band.

Its sad that you don't know what this song truly means... They don't necessarily sing it for the people in Iran.

i totaly agree with you ,they sang this song for canada . lol

well its kinda related to Iran
things what they say in song
and u better watch the news of Iran
the green background is for IRan
miladbr 2 years ago
Its Not for Iran . It's lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed civil rights marchers. Along with New Year's Day. By the way

btw if u open ur eyes at the begingin of show u can c the fukin screen of green women and farsi(perssian) writing things about iran, if its for that its for Iran too Open ur eyes u can c it
miladbr 2 years ago
How do you know it's for Iran? You can't even spell Persian correctly. There are tons of fucked up countries that speak arabic and treat women badly.
cbrandom 2 years ago
Dude, After the struggle in Iran this song was dedicated to the people of Iran..... I know bc I am PERSIAN and I can read the writings on the screen which are in Persian, NOT Arabic, and I can also recognize the pictures which belong to Iran bc I have seen them thousands of times!!!! Now what do you have to say???
makhmaljoon 2 years ago 2
stfu the background on the screen it farsi writing going up and the pic of woman with green bandanan on her mouth that mean for Iran
u better watch the news

The American flag means different things to a soldier than a civilian, such as support our troops means the troops, not the war in the middle east. But this is a tight song.
