Waiting is a part of it all.Sometime your lucky and sometime not. You had luck this time ! Last sunday i allso waited for more than 45 minutes,and when the train poped up from nowhere i screwed it all up with the camera,so i only got the end of the last car !! ha ha ! Greetings from Norway !
What is that hissing or sparking sound that I hear all through the video? Sounds like air escaping or a big electrical arc. Also, what in the world does "UNDER WARRANTY" mean beneath the locomotive number on the diesel?
What an incredible sound! I love it when the engineer gives the 844 just a little more power and then storms by! The '60M second out in the diesel consist was a nice touch to the scene as well.
Awesome video Ervan, I would love the chance to video A Steam Engine. Everything thru here is ordinary modern freight trains. I have lots of videos and not one is A Steam Locomotive LOL
They are usually left alone for long periods with little protection. Since cavemen left graffiti behind in caves, there is little hope that modern man will change anytime soon!
why did that diesel stop so far from the lights? to chat with you?, the smoke, the appearance, the sound all adds to the magnificance of the steam train!!!did he not blow horn for you?

Why do they have to add that damn diesel on there? I think 844 can pull her own weight.
joeu5431 2 months ago
@joeu5431 The diesel is there for more braking power in case 844's brakes fail

Both of those trains stunned me;
the freight train because i have never een conainers being stacked on a train
and the passenger train because of the steam/diesel combo and that last wagon.

Hello, I'd like to ask what is the purpose of the yellow car which can be seen between the steam and diesel loco? Is that aditional water tender?

I seen the Diesel Behind the steam engine is that for to push the steam engine ?
Biggie1231 1 year ago
@Biggie1231 No, the diesel is for dynamic braking. I think dynamic braking might be required by law. Also the chance of a mechanical glitch

It really bothers me seeing grafitti painted on the nose of that diesel locomotive.
I wonder why Union Pacific can't provide better protection for their rolling stock?
