Saw Cliff 2 days before he died at Bradford September 25th 1986 - asked him for his autograph after the show as I was a die-hard fan and only 17 don't bother with that shit asking for autographs anymore cos I'm older and I guess Cliff dying 2 days after in Sweden put me off, 22 years later and I still can see his face with that classic grin that "says I dunno man" shrug ya shoulders and cliff 'em all!!

Saw Cliff 2 days before he died at Bradford September 25th 1986 - asked him for his autograph after the show as I was a die-hard fan and only 17 don't bother with that shit asking for autographs anymore cos I'm older and I guess Cliff dying 2 days after in Sweden put me off, 22 years later and I still can see his face with that classic grin that "says I dunno man" shrug ya shoulders and cliff 'em all!!

RTL and MOP are still my favorite albums. They have a harmonic quality that theyve never captured since. Cliff was a pianist as well and very well-versed on music theory and composition. Such great music

OK, alot of you love Cliff, but lets face it he's not best bass player in the world, when a great musician dies there will be people who would copy them because they were such a big influence and their skill and sound is so unique. Cliff Burton on the other hand was not a good bass player, he was so average, as a member of Metallica he will not be forgotten, but as a good bass player he is but a distant memory (gone like the wind). Cliff Burton was and alway in my eyes will be the best bass player ever.....An idol....Thats one of the reasons I chose to be a bass player...I want to be just like him....I agree with all that say after his death Metallica went down hill....But some good came out of it...Like the song Unforgiven....Would have sounded better without Newstead though....Burton should have been the bass player in that song....

He wasn't only the bass player, or someone else in the band who co-write the songs, he was the man who made Metallica reach the sky. After his death, Metallica sold their souls for fame and fortune, things that he would never wanted to deal with. He'd never allowed all that "Black Album" to happen, and neither that "Load" thing.
