Blue Coat or Gray, all bled red. All men and brothers. Let us not judge them, for they have been judged by History- and History bowed its head in reverence for the 650,000 Americans who died between the years of 1861 and 1865.
These men paid the ultimate price for their devotion- the forfeit of their lives. For them, their honor needs no questioningz: it will remain untarnished and pure as the angel's robes they now surely wear in the Kingdom where all soldiers sleep in peace.
it seems to be drawing near. Did you see the Senate bill that passed on Dec. 1st? it effectively eliminated the 5th and 6th Amendments. The 4th was gone with the Patriot act. The 10th was gone with the passage of the Health care law. How much more can we take and still stand our ground as a free people? That is the question friend.
@nebraskapatriot01 Your damn right. We cant live this way forever. We are going to have to make a stand to protect our way of life. The American way of life.
@nebraskapatriot01 What we need to do is to reassert the People as the real Rulers of this Nations. Now a days instead of "We the People" it's become "We the Unions" the best way to remove this problem is to tell you congressman to vote for a bill(in your respective states) that would make your state a Right To Work State. Which would eliminate the Unions Hold on the Government.
That would work if the Congressmen were actually representing the people.(Ben Nelson and his Cornhusker kickback) need i say more. Its a bit far down the road for that to work now, that is what should have been happening in 1998 and up.It is now evident they are not representing the people, esp. with passage of S.1867. Our problems lie much deeper than Unions my friend. To be honest it scares the bejebees out of me, whats happening to Liberty&Freedom in this nation.
@arga400 They did not fight to keep their slaves, they already had that right protected by the Constitution. They fought for the ability to spread slavery to any new states that may be formed.
@Barragg actually that fought because the North banned all exports of southern goods to other country's. Thus prompting the attack on Fort Sumter because it was acting in a Blockade role(outpost for supplies). Slavery didn't become an issue till Great Britain announced that they where going to aid that south. Lincoln used slavery to keep Great Britain from fight on behalf of the south realizing they could not fight both Nations. Great Britain had abolished slavery at that time.
It's funny, we look back and say how could brother fight brother or father fight son. But it could happen again, despite all the steps taken, country's brake up, in a few more years we could see a confederate flag again,if we forget our selves like so many have.
And it is happening bud. Almost so slight no one is noticing. Check this out... in 2010 we got an Active Army Combat Brigade Deployed here in the States under US North Comm.Their mission according to the Army Times was "Civil unrest, Crowd controll" then after they found out there were lots of pissed of folks, they retracted that statement.... it still shows their intentions. I pray every night that our Government has not forgotten the horror of our American Cvil War.
@bj12011 I agree with you. My mom told me my great great great father had a fear of another civil war happening again. I pray that we never forget oursleves again.
@wsdmofwhitestar Of course, what does that question have to do with anything? I'm asking if the vision and events he talks about are actually something that was reported at that battle.
@Trenchgun97 yes, it's a real story. During the battle of Fredricksburg, aurora borialis was seen (the Northern Lights). He put a different spin on it for the song, because It obviously wasn't God's tears. But yes, it's a true story of the battle.
Some say it was the Canon smoke, some say the Zealous Lights, ytat cast a holy image over the denominations that night, some say it was God’s Spirit looking over the bloody sod, that rainbow mist that filled the sky, was the tears of God…
Both sides read His Holy Word, and believed it in their hearts, the common ground He blessed them with had now been torn apart, covered by the blood they shed, so many lost their lives, the fighting on that Holy Hill was enough to make Him cry
Some say it was the Cannon smoke, some say the zealous lights, that cast a ghostly image over Calvary that night, some say it was God’s Spirit looking over the bloody sod, that rainbow mist that filled the sky, was the tears of God…
Some say it was the Devil’s smoke, some say the religious lights, that cast a loving image over Calvary that night, some say it was God’s Spirit looking over the bloody sod, that rainbow mist that filled my eyes, was the tears of God…
When you people write hatedrid comments it shows how lost you are! You believe those men have the guts to fight for you!? Do you care about those men and women out there that could die for you! Well you better believe that god is protecting them and watching over them for they will be safe for the belief of god and those with the disbelief god still loves you but will he turn from you in your times of need you better know it! _ to all the people with belief in god amen! For all those who dont i

@wsdmofwhitestar The Movie Gods and Generals did a great job of catching that moment with the northern lights in Fredricksburg i think anyway.

Some had on the Baptist Grey, some Pentecostal Blue
They were fathers, sons, and daughters, Christians like me and you.
Engaged in Heavenly battles, till there came that Holy Pause… when silence took the churches the men just stood in awe.
