  • I train and listen to this track, it gives me so much fuckin adrenaline, that i'm able to move mountains.

  • @BattlePL well said

  • anyone know a song by this band that shows off them having two drummers...i just read somewhere they have two...but i've never noticed it...i'm not looking for live videos

  • @DarkJoker7 dunno, when i saw them live, they used two drummers for pretty much every song though.

  • 4:58 - Instant goosebumps all over my body. This is the first time I've ever heard this band. Fantastic!

  • @Farore247 God, you've been missing out all this time, time to do some catching up mate!... but i guess you guys have Mogwai on your side of the ocean, so there might still be hope for you yet ;) .. of course, i'm just pulling at your strings. i'm glad to see people are still discovering the magnificence of this band, and all that they have accomplished. their side projects & influences on other bands are too numerous to mention. just soak it all in!

  • GY!BE will endure the end.

  • play this in my funeral and i will die happy

  • @benelliM1S90 maybe to die happily you'll need this to be played AS you're dying??

  • This has one of the greatest build ups i have ever heard in a song

  • Tohu wa Bohu - "formless and void." Genesis 1:2.

    This is the album cover,

  • @impostersteve you are the reason that abortions should be mandatory.

  • @jrstreets Go to bed, /mu/

  • @jrstreets Go to bed, /mu/

  • one of my favorite bands :) you guys should check out Rems Floating Chandelier sometime:)

  • I was listening to this because supposedly, with headphones, it makes you high.

( XD) You're suppose to hear this weird beat in your head, and no joke, I did. o.o A minute or two later, when it was about 5 minutes in, I took the headphones off. I was all tingly inside and my head sort of ached...umm...This song is epic. Even chuck norris cannot compare.

  • Tohu wa bohu (תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ) is a Biblical Hebrew phrase found in the Book of Genesis 1:2. It is usually translated "formless and empty," or some variation of the same, and describes the condition of the earth before God said, "Let there be light." --- Je ne peux qu'accueillir et m'incliner devant autant de talent, vision, vérité et amour manifesté dans cette symphonie qui fait echo à ma conscience. BRAVO & THANK YOU !

  • wow i have been looking for this song for 5 years or so. i didnt know the title just wow this song takes me on a voyage even when not stoned

  • I discovered this group less then 40 minutes ago...now it's one of my favourite!! Incredible...

  • For those who think life is depressing because it is full of never ending conflict, misunderstanding, tension, defeat, less, etc. Think of how glorious conflict, reinterpretation, victory, and gain are.

  • @Distortion0 Thank you.. nothing good can come unless there is the exigence to entice it in the first place.

  • @Distortion0 conflict? glorious? what the fuck

  • @Distortion0 I know this is kind of sad, but thanks man.

  • @Distortion0 Yea, it's always glorious for the victor, and even then the victor will go down the shitter, as every victor in history has.

  • Comment removed

  • @Distortion0 Hey, I can rationalize terrible things by writing them down, too.

  • @Azathoth017 It's a good skill to have :)

  • For all those who think life is depressing because it is full of never ending conflict, misunderstanding, tension, defeat, loss, etc. Imagine how it was for your ancestors who didn't have electricity, plumbing, sewage systems, light bulbs, phones, refrigerators, medicine, antibiotics, cars, gasoline. And they fought and survived and overcame and that's why you exist on Earth today. But we all bitch and complain about how much our lives suck and how evil America is when it gives us all we need

  • @elysian1111 I actually envy our ancestors for their lack of electricity, cars, gasoline, etc. I don't think the world is better for our "advances". I feel like they have distanced us all, including myself, from things that we should hold far more important. I don't believe I am alone in that. But I do appreciate the message you are trying to convey.

  • @MistressoftheDork Damn dude for the most part I feel the same way. I think life would be so much simpler and just chill with out technology. Sure it is cool and helpful and all this music is good too, but I wish I could live in a time like that too, at least for a while.

  • @impostersteve I totaly agree

  • 47 dorks have listened to this song

  • @neversadducee 1 idiot thinks he will get top comment

  • bit from 3 minutes onwards always gets me

  • Shame they have a Jew in the band.

  • @TheLagunaSunrise Well, that's a fairly unpleasant thing to say.

  • @TheLagunaSunrise christians are literally the worst people

  • @utubeaccount00 Well I'm not a Christian, but honestly, to say Christians are worse than Muslims is just plain ridiculous.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheLagunaSunrise how do you figure?

  • @utubeaccount00 Erm... how about taking a look at the Muslim world you ignorant fool? Then compare it to Europe, and other areas of the world that have Christian majorities.

  • @utubeaccount00 ....Ignorant people are the worst kind of people....

  • Magistral!

  • what is this Hebrew "WorD" ?

  • @chazmcneill : Tohu wa bohu (תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ) is a Biblical Hebrew phrase found in the Book of Genesis 1:2. It is usually translated "formless and empty," or some variation of the same, and describes the condition of the earth before God said, "Let there be light." ;-)

  • 47 people are quite clearly defective.

  • @88Anesthetize So a person's intellectual capacity (I assume you meant intellectually defective) is dependent on whether they like or dislike a particular song? Geez, I hate comments like these. Get over yourselves... : /

  • Comment removed

  • Man, I'm listening to this at 10:30 at night. it's so incredibly calming and relaxing. I feel so...zen.

  • 08:25

  • Arguably one of the best songs ever composed within the scope of contemporary music

  • as liberating as an orgasm

  • AMAZING!!! Great composition and well arranged. It's good to hear people are still interested in making great music.

  • @lafec3

chill out dude... its just a song. nobody believes that you did 580 situps. lololol my name is lafec3 and i compare things to drugs. hurhurhur smoke weed e'reday bitchiz. yeah. i do sit ups. hahaahaha bitchiz luv them sum lafec. do you now realize how fucking stupid you sound? just shut up.

  • @jschmittygob ah but he listens to beautiful music so i give him respect for that. focus on the music, not the comments. peace

  • oye esas letrillas que quieren decir, entiendo si no me equivoque q es hebreo pero que onda q dicen?

  • That ambient intro is nice

  • What a truly brilliant post rock EP this is.

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant, just brilliant! Never heard this band before and randomly chose this song to get an idea of what they sound like. Man does this song make a great first impression!

  • Its not the full song. There is 20 secs or so missing!

  • This band requires patience. That's all there is to say. It's a chill mood sort of thing

  • Can't get into "Godspeed you! Black Emperor" and that saddens me, because I love their band name and album covers.

  • @georgykicksass Listening to them in the right atmosphere will make them click. Then you will realize how amazing they are. I got F#A#oo by them without listening to them. I went to bed around 11:30 and played the album. The feeling my pitch black room created with this album made me love them.

  • @Ashlemacq good point :) after listening to this style music more i really lke the whole song moreso than i had (ive always liked the song. just more so now) :)

  • Are you guys really fighting over the structure of the song? Wow. 1. If everyone followed the formula that ya'll have decided music should follow, we'd still be listening to classical music. not that there's any problem with that, but progress is a good thing as well. 2. if you can't handle an instrumental song, GY!BE clearly isn't for you. I hear Justin Bieber gets right into the action, maybe that'd be more your style

  • Did you know that in some countries you go to jail for desecration of GY!BE by using it as background music?

  • @Tollaneri fag

  • Stop complaining!!!

    Just go 8:27 !!!

    AND FUCKING BREAK FREEE

    WHO THE FUCK CARES!!

    8:27

  • The soundtrack to your life.

  • I Recommend Comus - The Herald. A great song that reminds me a bit of GY!BE

  • that's not an intro, that's half the song

  • תהו ובהו

  • ואכן, כאוס =)

  • tahoovahvhoo?

  • @skatedude74 tohuvabohu. Wierdly it means some kind of disorder and chaos in languages like Estonian and Hungarian.. dunno why.

  • I honestly don't know what just fucking happend! but i'm smiling.

  • if you like godspeed, mogwai, mono japan, sigur ros, boards of canada, explosions, chances are you'll like this atypical acoustic trio that sounds like no other. formed in 2008 they go by "star fk radium".

search Youtube for the high quality video "star karmara"

  • @radiogreenblue Thank you :)

  • is it not possible to just listen......no need to break down or interrupt....just listen...get swept away....godspeed is one of those collectives that can inspire tears or giant shit eating grins....its amazing to me how such talent can slip through the cracks......

  • the original song is 10:51. Youtube just doesn't let you over 10 mins unless you have a special account.

  • how did I just discover these guys? holy fuck

  • @KyleThomasShultz I said the same thing. :)

  • Does the strings section of the intro remind anyone else of Adagio for Strings (the real one not the tiesto version)? Or is it just me?

  • Gave me shivers 14 times. Is some of the song cut off at the end?

  • they should call this song, "just a little patience" HAW HAW HAW!

  • The people who think this song should be shortened are the same types who get mad that the band doesn't ever look at the audience when they play live.

All we can hope is that those benighted souls eventually get it, cause otherwise they're missing out on so much...

  • @zybast They are also the type that say, "When is the song going to start?" I can't stand that...just because the singing hasn't started, does not mean the song hasn't started. I'm thinking of people talking about The Mars Volta songs. Shit, I've heard that regarding TOOL before, and I think they have at most maybe like 2 minutes of music before the singing starts on any song...most are like a minute, tops.

  • i need too see them live

  • gonna see them live this evening !!...WoW

  • I wish the song would never end

  • gonna see them this Friday 29th Apr ...This will be the moment of my life seriously ..

  • why should this be shortened i love how long their songs are!!!

  • they are canadian. saw them in athens it was amazing, they played this

  • Such an awesome song. I swear to that GYBE is drug. Normally i do about 80 situps a night, then it starts to hurt. Tonight, switched on some GYBE, did 580 straight, with no pain. So great.

  • love having this band in my library

  • This song makes my heart wrench.... in a great way

I had to pull my car over the first time I heard it

  • תהו ובהו

  • formless and void... genesis 1.2

  • @Razorgabo Also Jeremiah (I think 40)...great intertextuality.

  • I love this song, but every time I show this song to someone, they brush it off as terrible, and it makes me sad knowing that they are missing something so beautiful.

  • If anyone ever wondered what is written in the video, it means Oblivion.

  • @thematan18 Oblivion, Chaos, good to see im not the only hebrew viewer in here :)

  • @ya000Marzipan

Yeah, im from Israel ( I guees you too), and this is one of the first words in the bible.

Do you know if this band is Israeli?

  • @thematan18 im pretty sure its not, though it was formed by Efrim Menuck, who is a jew :)

  • @thematan18 הם לא ישראלים..

  • @thematan18

    they are from Canada

  • 混沌

  • got half way through and gave up, not for me

  • Who's complaining about the song being to long? Seriously? I was sitting here listening to it and got sad when it ended. It should be longer! haha

  • @ThatWasMyPoptart Yes, there should be part 1 and part 2 or something like that.

  • @ThatWasMyPoptart I'm eating a poptart and I almost died choking on it laughing. But no, I think this is in fact my poptart.

  • 29 Days left before the moment of my life

  • Why are you guys being dickheads for no reason? Shut the fuck up, listen to this awe inspiring music and try to learn something about yourself.

  • Are some folk actually complaining about the intro? Intros in film, TV, books, songs are there to set the mood, take you out of the world and into another. Its as much a part of the whole journey as the rest of the piece.

If you think little or no intro is the way then you need to ween yourself off Glee, Heroes, Lost and Desperate Housewives. They're clearly addling your mind.

  • @Chorltonian Lie to Me does the intro pretty well. Short but powerful and tone setting.

  • @Chorltonian Just like Cedric Bixler once said. "Sometimes it takes some time to get from point A to point B." Or any other point for that matter. Sometimes the intros to my songs are short, and sometimes they are longer. It all depends on the direction. It's just like painting or architecture. Music should be build from layers. No matter how simplistic or complex it may be.

  • @Chorltonian whatever man... the intro is clearly too long rationalize it however you want

  • @FantasiaP you wouldnt be able to appreciate the the second half of the song without the build up. the intro is essential for the second half to climax.

  • @FantasiaP It's not rationalization. It's opinion. Anything that has many people debating is never 'clearly' anything, my friend. It's obviously not 'clearly too long,' or you wouldn't have near two-thousand people giving this a thumbs-up.

  • @ramatheson well yea cause its a bloody amazing song but the intro need not be so long... and he was rationalizing his opinion.... i say its clearly too long cause its cutting into the body of the song

  • @Chorltonian Yeah, I agree. However, it's not really their fault. It's the culture we live in. You are correct, though, about the exposition. Without the first hour or so of almost no action in Star Wars: A New Hope, what would you have? A guy that saves the galaxy. WITH that exposition, you have a nobody farm boy who has impetus from his family being murdered to go out and follow his father's footsteps and fight back. That makes a much better story.

I enjoy pop music. I should also say...

  • @Chorltonian ...it has its place. Sure, they get right into your head by the fourth note, but after a few listens, the song is boring. Songs like this, and classical music, and The Mars Volta, and others, takes a number of listens for your mind to 'unlock' it, but once it catches one little bit, it slowly unwraps for you. Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony is one of my favorite pieces of music, but took a number of listens before bits stood out. Our culture is built around consumerism, remember. :-/

  • @Chorltonian I wonder what those people would do with themselves on GY!BE concert when there is Hope Drone playing

  • @Chorltonian Well said!!

  • @Chorltonian Heeeyyy. Don't diss 'Heroes'. haha.

  • You know what? When you will bring the girl you love/ you wanna screw, in your bed. Put this music dude, after a few bottle of wine, you feel drunk and with this song in the dark it's just gorgeous! Love the live, Love the real music.

  • You know what? When you will bring the girl you love/ you wanna screw, in your bed. Put this music dude, after a few bottle of wine, you feel drunk and with this song in the dark it's just gorgeous! Love the live, Love the real music.

  • Sounds like... ascension

  • wolves in the torone room>godspeed you! black emperor

  • @xXRaptur3Xx You are a fucking idiot. I love both of those bands and you are a fucking idiot.

  • @Inresurrection im not an idiot you cocksucker. im just saying it simply takes this and brings it to the next level. possibly makes it enjoyable.

  • @xXRaptur3Xx You are an idiot. You're comparing one of the most legendary post-rock bands ever to an atmospheric black metal band. Go suck on a fat tit.

  • @Inresurrection

    More like post-cock. amirite?

  • @xXRaptur3Xx gtfo. NOW!

  • @xXRaptur3Xx YOU ARE SO RIGHT I LOVE YOU

  • Im so glad that I could go to I'll be your mirror/ATP japan. Love GY!BE so much!

  • 8:27

  • @tobreakcustom You missed 85% of the song.

  • @Druidy0

No shit. I just wanted to point out the time that I came in pants.

  • all there is to complain about is that this song ends

  • @hottaco11 hahaha I yelled "NOOO!" when the video stopped :/

  • WOW, that was pretty faquin epic to say the least!!

  • GY!BE evokes a lot of emotion. different for sure....try this atypical acoustic instrumental trio that has a bit of a dark side to them. goes by "Star FK Radium". Search Youtube for their song "Blue Siberia"

  • I really love it when bands like GY!BE are recording music. I like to think of this as modern opera or orchestra sets, that last more than today's three minute songs of nothing but fluff.

  • Cant believe im gonna see them in april 29th Montreal ! gonna be awesome !

  • @clavianord luckyy! im jealous... haha

  • @clavianord sweet man tell em I said hi okay?!!
