Not for final effects, as far I've heard so far, but for instance James Cameron was able to use a form of AR so that while he was filming Avatar's live scenes he was able to watch the 3D characters or objects the actors would be interacting with on his monitor. This allowed Cameron to more effectively direct the actors' performances, since that's the trickiest part: when a director and an actor are just in a green screen studio, the CGI can be difficult to imagine.
There is no tenth dimension, it doesn't work the same as generations, dopes..
