honestly, while I love old school games like this, the best controller ever designed is the PS2's dual shock, don't get me wrong, I love the older consoles and their games, but the Dual Shock just feels right in your hands, and can be used to play anything, even if all you want is d-pad and 2 buttons like the NES, or 4 buttons like the SNES, probably since it was originally supposed to be a Nintendo design in the first place (PS1, pre dual shock) don't believe me? look it up

@FLCL420 100% is based on getting all items on the subscreen, all heart pieces, and max level of equipment except the bomb and arrow upgrades. The level 2 shield and blue mail can be skipped since they are replaced by the mirror shield & red mail.

Yes, it's true (if the S.D.A. says 100% then it's 100%~cpu wise) that you don't need ALL the items to reach 100% for the S.D.A.; but for us humans 100% includes getting everything. The poster mislead me and I'm sure a lot of other people. He should have gave it a more fitting name...like "Hardcore speed run Part etc." It might not be a "true" 100% speed run but it is a hardcore speed run...with a misleading title.

But in fact if one is pedantic u are right and for a 100% run you have to open at least every chest in the game.

Maps and compass's arent neccesary to beating the game. And by the "rules" you dont need to get the blue tinuk or the second sheild because they are replaced later in the game.

i heard there was a glitch in the gane where you can go into each castle in the dark world and get only the key items and when you finished of lvl 7 (including dumpimg the boss) you'd have all the crystals. anyone know if that is a real glitch

I have such great memories of this game! I wish I had that time of my life back in some ways. Raising my son, he got into it too and loved to watch me play, and we figured things out and got so excited .. such mundane pleasures. I never enjoyed many games after this one.
