  • Sir, maybe you are pointing to the Filipino women of the Spanish period. But the real image of a Filipino women was basically that nude. Its the Pre-Spanish period.

  • Maganda song.

  • Going on vacation in the town of my grandfather in Bulacan, I never so any girl taking a bath that would show any part of the body that should not be seen. As an artist Amorsolo just used the background, I do not even know if the nude girls are his paintings, many artists copied his style.

  • The painting is beautiful.let's just put it that way.and forget about the lyrics in this song. There are still Filipinas who epitomize Maria Clara.I love the song and am learning to sing it.Thanks for the posting.

  • Filipina women are very innocent in the past, oh I remembered what my teacher asked us he asked "Ano nang nangyari sa pagiging Konserbatibo ng mga Filipina?"

I think it is very rare to see some Filipina women with that attitudes :D

Hay.... >.>, Thanks for the upload anyway. =P

  • Let's be honest with ourselves, the song doesn't fit the nudity showned in the painting. I'm old enough to remember the dalagang Filipina long time ago and the dalagang Filipina of today. Bare breasted Filipina that belongs to the Mountain tribes are common before the Spanish colonization, but that's not what the painting is showing. Todays dalagang Filipina simply do not display their breast in public like in the painting. The exclusive rights of seing their breast belongs to the BF/husband.

  • Some people just thinks that the paintings here that are nude are totally bad. It's their INNOCENCE and they don't think it with malice. Do you think they already had clothes like ours today? Of course not! DON"T think of MALICE. Other countries were as naive as Filipina's before. Don't you think?!

  • nice painting

  • nice painting

  • What I like about Amorsolo paintings is that he highlights the Filipina beauty without westernizing them (by adding tall noses, pale skin and hair, etc.).

  • Although I appreciate art, especially that of Filipino artists like Amorsolo, I quite disagree with the slide show showing these nude filipinas being shown together with the song, Ang Dalagang Pilipina, lyrcs of which is exactly the opposite of the paintings of the said dalagang Pilipina. (Disregard that I do understand what is meant to be portrayed here in terms of art). It is just that what I hear and what I see do not exactly match :D

  • @xyronsimon : The paintings depicts Filipina maidens in their innocence. It only becomes "the opposite" if you put malice to these nude paintings (-̮̮̃-̃).

  • @philclassic I couldn't agree more. Uses and Gratifications Theory.

  • @philclassic the nudity in this video does not define what the song is saying about "dalagang pilipina". my respect to mr. amorsolo). how does the nudity correlate with what the song is saying? the nudity is out of place.

  • @philclassic sad to say that almost but not all PILIPINANG DALAGA in our time is liberated and others dont apply maria clara image o their heart and mind =(

  • @xyronsimon ... just like many things within human experience, nudity can & will evoke art or malice depending on what CONTEXT the beholder can provide to the viewing experience.

  • @edsnantonio: I totally agree. Thanks for your comment.

  • @xyronsimon So you think the slideshow doesn't match the song. Do they have to match? I think philclassic has the ability to think in and out of the box. I much prefer Amorsolo's nudes to static pictures of clay pottery, water buffaloes, postcard landscapes, still life, insects, wildlife, .......... well, I hope you get my drift. :-)

  • @xyronsimon those are actually the native dresses of the Filipinas before the Spanish invaded our country.. the Maria Clara type of dress was just observed when the Spanish people came and invaded our country.. :)

  • @xyronsimon i agree to your comment....... filipinas are not so bold but the painting is so filipino classic

  • @xyronsimon Sir, maybe you are pointing to the Filipino women of the Spanish period. But the real image of a Filipino women was basically that nude. Its the Pre-Spanish period.

  • ang kyut nya sino kaya sya 0:14.. wish i was born during this time, kung saan ang dalagang filipina ay conservative, mayumi, mahinhin .. sarap magkaroon ng gf na filipina :)

  • The lyrics tells all. That,s what Pilipina are.

  • @Elpidiodeguz: what used to be.... before they were Americanized :)

  • @Elpidiodeguz but the nudity in the video does not describe nor define what the song says. the nudity is poorly chosen. i respect great art such as amorosolo's but the nudity is misplaced in this video....my opinion.

  • Todas na namn ang aking assignmemt nito. Makikinig na nga lang ako at baka mainspire. Napaka ganda talaga ng ating kundiman. Walang tatalo kahit n gaano kahirap n assignment.

  • oh thanks! are those pictures/painting shown in Libis Nang Nayon video can also be found in the book? went to search for the book but went home empty handed..

oh well theres something in those paintings that draw me back from my childhood days playing on the rice paddies.. is fun!..

  • @skeptics23: There is only one nude painting in the said book. Most of the art presented there are country side scenes. Its just a small coffee-table book but the graphics are clear. Its still available only in Powerbooks, Makati (Ayala Center). It contains more or less 15 famous Amorsolo paintings. There are a few online auction sites where you can find the nude paintings in this video.

  • I was moved by the paintings of the great fernando amorsolo depecting the life from way back, its very serene and all things seems very simple.. I would like to ask if where did you get the pictures? can I upload them? love his works but I`m just an ordinary guy, and I can`t afford to buy the original one.

  • @skeptics23: thanks for your comment. Yes you can upload my videos, along with its audio and graphics. Just keep in mind the Disclaimer written in my first page: "The materials presented here are not intended for commercial use or profit. • @skeptics23: With regards to the Amorsolo paintings, you can get them at the "Book Of Days, Amorsolo, The Filipino Master" which is published by ArtEssentials. There are also several online auction sites where you can find Amorsolo painting. You can freely copy the images posted in the said websites.

  • Wonderfull !! Ang Galing !! I am so proud to be a Filipino !!

  • amorsolo is great no doubt but you can always portray INNOCENCE in a different way. bakit ipapakita mo pa yung suso. haha. aminin na natin lahat ng mga artists may kalibugan. kung di mo pa alam yun ikaw ang ignorant. peace. sa nag post nito sigurado maraming nag enjoy dito. salamat at peace din sayo.

  • In the early 70's I visited my grandparents in a very remote place in Ilocos. Four hours hike up the mountain then 4 hours down to reach their village. No electricity and one of the things I noticed was that women wear very little when doing laundry at the river and men wears nothing while bathing there. I know because I helped take the carabaos to the river to bath and drink. Also breast feeding in the provinces is not concealed as in the cities. Of course, those were the bygone days...

  • Well said ladydragon80, well said!! BRAVO!!!

  • The great Fernando Amorsolo painted Filipina women nude, as representation of their INNOCENCE. aND it is different from the word IGNORANCE which is represented by some people who commented below.

  • You said it very well ladydragon... thanks for your comment.

  • I totally, agree, there is no malice in these paintings.

  • amorsolo is great no doubt but you can always potray INNOCENCE in a different way. bakit papakita mo pa yung suso. haha. aminin na natin halos lahat ng artist may kalibugan. kung di mo pa alam yun ikaw ang ignorant. peace. sa nag post nito... im sure maraming nag enjoy dito. salamat. peace din sayo.
