She is a Britt...Maxine Nightingale (born 2 November 1952; Wembley, London)[1] is a British R&B and soul music singer. She is best known for her hits in the 1970s, with the million seller "Right Back Where We Started From" (1975, U.K. & 1976, U.S.), "Love Hit Me" (1977), and "Lead Me On" (1979).
I think that it is awesome she performed despite not feeling well. I would have loved her performing at my birthday. :) It would have put a smile on my face no matter how sick she felt.

I remember buying Maxine's Right Back Where We Started From on a 45! United Artists records. We played this 45 over and over until the grooves turned white!!! I also remember when she debuted this record on Dick Clark's American Bandstand! I was so surprised to hear her beautiful British accent when Dick interviewed her! Maxine still looks terrific! What energy...God bless you, Maxine and thanks for the memories!
I actually saw her in concert when she opened for Shaun Cassidy (in 1977). I was seven years old. It was the first time I heard this song. It's amazing the things you remember as a kid. She still sounds terrific!
The woman was born to be on stage, she was born to entertain humanity. What a gift she has. Love ya always Maxine. Lance in beautiful Bremerton, Washington, USA
This woman is so amazing. Really! She has to be in her 50's at least. She looks awesome, sounds awesome and what a performer! Wow!!!! I LOVE THE 70'S!!!!
No Peter95111 , you're possibly thinking of Marcia Hines. Actually Hines is American but has lived in Australia for over 30 years. Maxine Nightingale is from Wembley in London England. One of her first 45's was on the English PYE label in 1969 when she was a teenager. She did her cover of Blood Sweat & Tears classic "Spinning Wheel". Good cover too.
@Peter95111 I never knew that and im Australian and i know a fair bit about music especially Australian music. I was surprised to her her Australian accent. Ive never seen her on any music tv show here. I always thought she was American because she looked Black and Latino mix to me.
She has got to be one of the most personable performers ever. What a great lady for interacting with the crowd the way she does. Thats what makes a great performer, great. Maxine is the best!!!!
She is so amazing! Happy Birthday Dean! That's one lucky duck, I would kill for her to perform at my birthday party! :)
