  • I am soooo ready to give up on my natural hair... UGH. I'm going to hold on for a bit longer. Wish me luck.

  • @AriellaLove please don't give up remember God gave you that hair for a reason :)

  • This is called withdrawl symptoms, this let's you know we have been on chemical so long to let that go is not an easy thing. YouTube is a natural girl's best friend, from the beginning to the one with years under her belt.

  • I've been natural for 3 years. I'm still learning what works and what doesn't. I've discovered I prefer a blow out every 4-5 weeks. My hair is super thick and healthy. I am NEVER going back to a perm. I really appreciate this video. We can all use encouragement.

  • i used to have this awesome fro, then this lady SCREWED IT UP. she flat ironed then hairsprayed the same spots over and over again, and it was permanently straight in those spots. i got sick of it and cut it, then i buzzed it, and i'm trying to grow it out again. i swear, i feel so unattractive most of the time and i feel like it's taking forever..

i keep looking at my old hair and thinking it's gonna get there again, but i feel like it's gonna take a frickin year.

  • I jus decided to go natural after my hair has been relaxed for 15 years. Its been 3 months now I was about to go back to getting relaxers but watch this.I'm like totally lost and have no clue of what products to use.My hair is dry, nappy, and hard to manage. Can u help me out?

  • I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I WENT NATURAL. I CAN TAKE THIS ANYMORE. MY HAIR IS FRIZZING UP A FEW DAYS AFTER I COME FROM THE SALON. ITS GETS ALL WAVY, AND ITS SO HARD TO STRAIGHTEN. MOST PEOPLE SHOULD WATCH THIS FIRST. AND THE RELAXED HAIR BREAKS AND HAS TO BE CUT OFF OVER TIME

  • this is my 4th time going natural...wish me luck...

  • very true.....i found that asian or white guys love natural hair on black women.! my b/f was asian and he really disliked my hair when it was flat ironed it!

  • thank you very much for the inspirational video i reali want to keep my hair natural but ive been struggling with it... friends and family dont understand why im transitioning and its very hard.. thanks agian =)

  • i wasn't thinking about perming it again but i def needed this video cause this dry hair of mine is killin me... but im determined to work through it... thanx girl love the video!

  • So true about the diff men u attract yesss i love being natural but i wig it up here an there

  • gurl.. can u or sum1 help me???? my hair is so dry and i have been transitioning since july of 2010. hair is just dry and terrible. is not growing idk what to do.

  • thank you soooo much for this video! I have been natural for 3 years, but I had always straightened my hair until recently i decided I wanted to try natural styles. I've been doing bantu knot outs and they're so pretty but my natural hair knots easily and is so dry.its so discouraging! and i was so close to texturizing my hair as well! thanks again for this video, I won't give up

  • I enjoyed your video, and I have been natural for about 10 years now, HOWEVER, I have been wearing weaves and most recently lace front wigs BECAUSE I have learned how to style my natural hair nor have I learned how to cornrow (must be the only Black girl in the world that can't) sooooo there is no way for me to embrace my natural LONG hair so I want to go back to the relaxer so bad...

Yall pray for a sistah...any suggestions are VERY welcomed!!!

  • THX SOOO MUCH I was just in a funk I've been natural for 2years now still learning about what works and my hair. I've become discouraged because my hair is still thin in the top yet thick in back ( when I wear fros u can't tell) I want my BSL hair back and it just doesnt seem like it's where it should be. I make my own Shea butter mix cowash the only thing I haven't been dedicated to is protective styling(love my frohawks) so I was just sitting here trying to figure what to change in my regi an

  • @M3Naturally

try scalp massage, it is what brings vitamins to the hair follicles. make sure you eat lots of fruits & veggies to put good stuff in the blood so when you massage the scalp, the nutrients are there. watch out for the chemicals in hair care products; especially alcohol and mineral oil in its many forms. they are drying agents and should be used in extreme moderation or avoided completely. learn the names of these items because they slip them in under different names.

  • what are good products to use when transitioning and you are dealing with two hair textures.

  • You look lovely. Thanks for the encouragement. A video worth watching is what this is.

  • Well, thanks for the encouragement i was going to relax my hair its only been 3 months. I guess im bored with it, its so short and i keep doing quick weaves but ugh....so frustrating

  • For me, it's not that I'm struggling with my hair...I'm just bored, lol. I've tried different styles, but I'm still bored. And when I press it, it curls right back up. So I'm not sure what to do.

  • i'm 6 months post...3 months totally natural and i've gone bald twice. i'm bald again because I don't have time to focus on figuring out what works for my hair. The process is fun and i love being in control of it but I just can't do it right now.

  • Nice video, very honest. I think we've all been conditioned so long to accept other forms of beauty and not our own. This natural journey for me is also encompassing retraining how I think of myself and what beauty is. God makes no mistakes . We are all beautiful as orignally intended. :)

  • i was just about to relax my hair!! smh... i have been natural for six years and i just think if ur not light skinned with pretty flowing curls.. natural hair doesnet look good and im a brown chic... i was so tempted until i watched this girl thank u:)

  • My hair is really frizzy, and my scalp is sensitive. My hair doesn't lay down, ever since my hair been damage by relaxer. The back of my hair wouldn't lay down, just stick up. I'm thinking about doing another bc.

  • i really want to give up on natural hair, and maybe just get it braided for now on. I love natural, if i had my way i would comb it and leave it like it is. But my curl pattern is not as pretty as some of these you tubers, who has pretty curls that they can just wash and go. I have been natural for two years, and parts of my hair seems like it will never grow. It's been damage. I wish i never put a relaxer in my hair in the first place. Im really discourage...

  • To natural hair...was tough especially being in high school

  • I'm 16 and going from my transition to p

  • all i can say is, thank you for this. so encouraging and inspiring. i'm in the middle of the struggle between weaves, extensions and just letting all that go so that i can get back to natural. i'm hoping for a courageous change for 2011. i'm working on getting into a 'natural state of mind'..... :-)

  • im glad that you committed to your decision and im grateful for your frustration vid! if there is 1 thing that i've learned about being natural its if you aren't getting the results that you expect. CHECK YOUR METHOD. what are you doing to your hair that is prohibiting growth or health? We (myself included **whew**) need to remember THE INFORMATION IS OUT THERE! good luck with your journey. peace.

  • I've bn natural 1y4mo and now I'm thinkn bout gettn a perm I'm heading to the military and i don't kno any styles I can wear that aren't again regulation and doesn't include me cutting it. I said I'll cut it down again but my husband/kids insists on me not doing that so if i don't find any suggestions on here I guess I'm going back to the perm :-(

  • @BlakkCherri3 Which branch are you joining? Im natural as well and Im joining and Im not cutting my hair. There are alot of youtubers who have natural hair and are in the military. Check out Al00fone and Chic beauty they are both natural and are in different branches. Hope this helps.

  • @BlakkCherri3 *her name is chicbeauty83

  • @BlakkCherri3 Hey, you can keep your hair twisted and pin them up when wearing your uniform and when your done just do a twist out.

  • U make it seem like open heart surgery it's only HAIR damn

  • I love this video. It is hard when were not in the right mindset. The last time i had a perm was in October and i had been transitioning for 3 weeks then i did the BC i had enough new growth to cut all the permed ends and now i love my hair.

  • I feel that we are on the same page :) ive been transitioning for about five months now and i have thought about just going back to my relaxed look but i just feel that its beautiful for black women or Woman of color to embrace their natural hair.. you are a inspiration to lots of women :)

  • Hair, Skin, Nails vitamins have helped my hair to become much healthier.

  • im feeling this i am 11 months natural and the change in the weather got my hair dry i ve been washing every week and two strand twisting im at the point im tired of taking hours to do my hair its dry and ive only been doing my own natural hair since aug i got alot to learn but lately i been thinking should i go to the dominicans to get it straight relax,,,idk i made an appt for kinky twist this weekend hopefully it helps and i get over it

  • I'm falling off my natural journey....I'm fantasizing about fierce pixie. I was one of those short hair divas! Give me a mini flat iron and a little piece of coloured weaved and voila, Ri-Ri has nothing on me! LOL! But I keep telling myself to give it time. I'm hair bored but I have gotten so much growth and thickness! No length tho! Not yet. All the bald spots I had have filled in...I needed to stay on this.. :)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you SO much for this vid. I was SO at this very point 2days ago. I actually TOLD my stylist-it's too hard, my hair is too dry, 2hard 2detangle, 2hard keep nice, etc. I WAS SICK OF NATRL HAIR. Tues I went to get it done and she forget I'd told her I wantd relxr + washd it. & I let her. Somehow I knew if I went back to chemicals, I'd be sorry. I came here to find inspiration from my sistaz and thank God YOU all were here! I SO appreciate the encouragmt and undrstandg.

  • Hi Ms.Scandalous Beauty! I'm another girl who just went natural- chopped everything, all of my permed hair off. My family members are looking at me like I'm crazy, and I just ran across this video... and wanted to say thanks so much for making it! It definitely has boosted my confidence. And it's just always nice to be reminded that others are going through and have gone through the same thing. So, thanks so much for sharing and posting this!

  • Thanks Erin for the encouraging words it is greatly appreciated. I agree the Natural world is a whole different ball game and the up keep is just as expensive as having an relaxer.

  • im pretty sure this video actually stopped me from getting relaxers! now im one year and a month natural and never going back! im like you, i want the big fierce afro:)

  • I know you released this video at the beginning of the year, but I'm just finding it now. I've found it incredibly inspiring - thank you so much. I transitioned for about 10 months. I didn't cut the remainder of the relaxed hair off until January 2010. Now that I'm completely natural I struggle with what to do with this hair. It's hard! It's dry most of the time and just a pain. I miss my long relaxed hair which was always down my back - this hair doesn't appear to grow. :(

  • @adore1908 Go to Amazon.com and purchase the following: 100% pure vegetable glycerin, 100% pure essential oils: jojobo, rosemary, sweet almond, 100% pure coconut oil, go to your local supermarket and buy 1 or 2 gallons of distilled water, Sally Beauty's supply for 4 oz spray bottles get 1 or 2, 1 plastic container that's used to apply color (Clariol has a nice one, tip is not too small). Also I found through an online search 100% Natural Shampoo and matching conditioner the brand is Dudu Osun

  • Very inspirational! Not thinking of perming my hair or anything but I hope this is helpful to anyone wanting to go back to perms.

  • i bc'd almost 2 months ago. and the first few weeks i went back and forth, mostly loving it but i had my days where i just didn't know what to do. i haven't been tempted to relax, don't miss that at all!! but i am looking to style my twa a little more. i hope this video it helps the girls who are going through what you went through because it is not easy, but its a beautiful experience. oh and i have noticed that i attract different people now, but thats because i am a different woman now.

  • Very HONEST!! Needed to see this SB... Thank you!!

  • It IS s true about the dryness, our hair demands more water, more oil, more moisture period. If you're not used to having your hair control you for the healthier good, then yes you will be frustrated and get a perm all over again. I loved my permed hairstyles...but they WERE NOT as strong as my current natural styles that im rockin! It does attract a diffrent grade of menSo i wanna thank you for your honesty and ur knowledge that you have shared in all ur videos Keep up the good work!

  • Just finished watching ur video, and everything you say is very true and the reality. It is SCARY, to turn from relaxed(or chemically straightened) hair to this powerful, demanding NATURAL HAIR, its so powerful that its intimidating, and you know thats why we all get afraid.

I understand the diffrences already and im ONLY 3 months transitioning. My hair was breaking off from under processed perm and an over processed dye so i decided to try going natural and stop using my flat iron.

  • so.. i want to wear my hair in its natural curl pattern.. but it is too dry and gets really big and nappy.. well tangled.. what should i do???

  • hope you do a video about the differents of the guys that use to approch you to the ones that do known

  • @foxyladymeonly Get 100% pure jojobo oil, coconut oil, 100% vegetable glycerin (Amazon.com--NOW Foods or Plantlife products) and distilled water (local grocery store) with a 4 oz spray bottle (Sally Beauty). Mix all that together (1/4 of this & that in the distilled water in the spray bottle), shake and start spritzing your hair. I do mine in the a.m. before or after I do the makeup and whenever I feel like it and my hair is SUPER SOFT. I'm a new natural B/C on Sept 1 but I researched online

  • What products do you recommend to grow your hair in the middle , because i did a half weave and when I took it off the middle was really short ; I really wanna stop using hair exstentions !! Any tips?

  • very motivating, cuz i was just thinking about getting a relaxer. touching my hair right now makes me feel like i'm three years old again. its so weird that i even remember the feeling of my hair at that age. its probably because i remember the traumatizing experience of my mom trying to comb my hair with me screaming - but anyway - i'm keeping it natural. i know i can get it long and strong. thank you for the motivation :)

  • Also what i've found is not only do we attract a different kind of guy as a natural...but even guys from other ethnicities - particularly white guys. i recently did my b.c. So im rocking my twa and a smile to boot. But honestly, so many white ppl, both young and old, tell me how beautiful I am, and how much better they like my hair. And white guys are actually staring and smiling. Natural is beautiful. And it feels so good to know that a compliment is all me - not 100% Remi Indian :p

  • @Alexandriakiel This comment is SOOO TRUE! I have always got attention from white men and other ethnicities, but since my transition from relaxed to natural, I have had soooo many WHITE guys to pay attention to me. It is actually nice to get the attention from other men besides Black men. Thanks for sharing.

  • @Alexandriakiel can't relate to that. i'm mixed and all i attract with natural is a different, smaller group of white guys than before. the black dudes still don't seem to care a lot bout my hair, they're "chasing" hasn't changed.

  • i still have some relaxed tips, but im soon to cut them off, my hairs been growing and looks wonderful, im so glad that im doing this, i have 3c curls with mixes of other types, but my curls have the circumfrence of a straw, lol, i love it. And thank you for this video, it makes me happy to see other people loving themselves for who they really are, and not trying to fit the mold that society is used to. :}

  • hey! i'm a sopohomore in college and i've been in the process for about 7 months. my mom thinks my hair will be harder to manage since i wont be able to comb it everyday. i actually had a perm appointment scheduled TOMORROW!!! reading the comments & the video changed my mind! i just really need to find more styles (i'm not into the fro & braid arent my thing....)

  • What I notice with alot of people that go natural is that they wash their hair like once a month. No no no no just because your hair has no chemical dose not mean you don't wash your hair it just means you going to have to take special Care of your hair. Your hair is beautiful love it inbrase it. It's people around my way who just don't understand or have a clue so keep up thee good job

  • You have to get you a good moisturizer shampoo and deep conditioner and doo a deep conditioner. Just because you are going natural dose not mean you have too use natural products. Going natural jus means no chemicals dose not mean you go get the sap from the trees, lol lol go get you some good products that support your natural hair structure and a plasic cap wash and deep condition your hair. Do the deep condioner one or every two weeks. Much love

  • OKay thank you i will check it out im just depressed because everything they say i should use i do bt my hair seem to drink it up and remain dry the stuff that works are the things they telling me aretnt organic or healthy but im still going to transition i will have to learn my hair its frustrating but im sure it will be worth it thanks so much :)

  • Again thanks for being an inspiration. You are GLOWING!!!!!!

  • thank you for this video and i am one of those ppl who cant take it i am 16 and i didnt have a choice my hair broke off on its own so i had to cut it and now i am natural and its really hard because i dont know what to do with it

  • I been transitionning for 8 months and i ahte my natural hair its so nappy i think im a 4 zzzzzzz i blow dried it for the first time in 8 months it was so lonnnnnnnggggg comparing to the little shrink looking thing next to it i tried gels for a cute curly fro my hair looked RIDICULOUS i wont perm it just yet but idk what to do (tear ) please help :(

  • @caniela23 I did the big chop in April and I gotta say that I'm getting more compliments on my hair now than I did when it was relaxed and past my bra strap! Even though I'd never had short hair I was loving the way it looked and how textured it felt but I didn't know how to style it. That's where youtube came in. I just had to find the right combination of products and regimens that worked for my hair specifically and now I enjoy my hair even more!! Try Kimmaytube's leave-in. Simply FABULOUS!!!

  • Thanks for the encouragement. I was having one of those days. It's been 9 months no relaxer and my hair is getting longer and thicker. I am in and out of the pool alot ( non chlorinated water) and having to rod set is so time consuming. Looking for a hairdo that works well with the pool.

  • what's been driving me crazy is that i CANNOT GET TO MY ROOTS when doing a braid out, twist out, etc..... it makes me bonkers. what can i do to ensure i reach my roots???? ugh PLEASE HELPPPPP

  • yea im a 16 year old lesbian but yea i feel you on the men. the more holistic, well rounded men are attracted to naturals. and im also natural now and im loving it! please my sistas, stick it out! and its not called a journey for nuthing. its the trials and tribulations that makes you stronger with your natural hair. my relationship with MYSELF has grown since becoming natural and i am loving it

  • Thank you for the words of encouragement!

  • I've been natural for 6 months now and im running out of styles to do. i feel like i'm doing the same thing all the time and i like my hair being spontaneous. when i straighten it looks like i've had a perm and its so tempting to just do it? HELP

  • I've been natural for 6 months now and im running out of styles to do. i feel like i'm doing the same thing all the time and i like my hair being spontaneous. when i straighten it looks like i've had a perm and its so tempting to just do it? HELP

  • @danfulani33 What styles have you been doing?

  • @danfulani33 have u try to twist your hair look at kimmytube's videos she have some protective styling tips

  • I went natural after my last bad expeience relaxing my hair. I had to apologise to my hair. I feel much happier with my hair in its natural state i appreciate my hair and its beauty now. Thanks for this vid it is encouraging.

  • Great point!!! I agree with you 1000%, I have that problem right now.

  • I've been wearing a puff every day, and my hairline is breaking, I'm not sure what protectivev styles I can do either, because my hair is 4b

  • @JustUploadingVideos Do you use a band when you make your puffs? I think that made my hair line break off.

  • @scandalousbeauty Yeah, I think that's probably the problem. Any alternatives?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @scandalousbeauty thankyou!! I think that was the problem

  • @JustUploadingVideos u can do two strand/three strand twists, bantu knots, etc.

  • I am not at the point that I have my relaxer ready but my hair is sooooooo Dry one day its great and others its not so great and this is in the same week....I use water in the morning and at nite, olive oil, coconut oil, vit E and drink lots of water...any suggestions??????????

  • @NotYaAverageGirl84 Make a water/glycerine mix, use half and half of each. You can find veggie glycerine at your local supermarket.

  • @NotYaAverageGirl84 I Wholeheartedly agree and sympathz. This journey like any other, my Gawd, has its UPs and its WAY FREAKING DOWNs. But I must come to love who I am and what I have. If natural is hard, I have to believe that fake wld be even harder. So, I am going to try again and if this wtr/glycrn works - please let me know. I am taking ALL experienced advice. Thanks and luv you guys.

  • @NotYaAverageGirl84 incorporate castor oil, honey and/or glycerine in your hair regimen as they are humectants. i pre-poo with castor oil

  • @dajewel1982 pre poo with castor oil + aloe vera gel and then put some coconut oil on top ITS AMAZING for dry, thirsty hair...courtesy of chicoro

  • Ferocious Fro ! Diva !!!! I love it!

You are sooo the business... I love it!

    Stay blessed sweetie.

I'm ... umm 9 months natural or is it 10 ... Either way... it has been one hell of a road, but I love it! Wouldnt change it for the world... right? Right. xoxo

    ~Nu.

  • Great video! You better say it again 4 real....the men you attract with natural hair are waaaaaaaaaay different than the ones when you have permed hair. I love those men!!!!

  • ok. my name is tia. I went natural about almost a year ago. I didn't want to relaxed anymore because i didn't know how to take care of it and it had become very damaged and thin in the front. so i decide to cut my hair to start over and learn how to take care of it. But i haven't been doing a good job, i think. i don't want a perm but it hurts to come through my hair. the only way i can get through is in the shower and that takes forever. Is there a better way.? and where are this forums?

  • @tia2083 2 forums are "nappturality" and "long hair care forum." yt doesn't allow url's in comments, so just do a search on them. there so many vids about moisturizing and detangling natural hair. 1 product to try is "pro-line comb thru lite creme moisturizer." it's found in the men's hair care section. have you considered getting some twists just so you can leave it alone for a little while? that might curb some of your frustration.

  • hi my name is lblackqueen and i just did my big chop in dec of 09 and i been having problems holding in moisture and my scalp has been flaking alot what do u suggest?

  • @lblackqueen, i have a condition that results in EXTREMELY dry scalp, to the point where my hair will fall out because the scalp has no moisture to nurture it. i'll try to inbox you what i do for hair & scalp.

  • DANG Erin! You look so beautiful in this video!

  • I really appreciate this video; it was very encouraging. I have been transitioning for only about 2-2.5 months. It's been difficult and I've gone through this phase before, only ending up relaxing. This time, I want to go all the way. I'm planning on getting my hair braided with extensions next week. Which would you recommend, individuals or cornrows?

  • Hi, I haven't had a relaxer since October and I'm trying to transition, but right now my new growth in the back of my head is really hard to comb through and now I don't even bother combing it out since its really rough and I don't want to cause a lot of breakage by pulling through my hair. Do you have any suggestions on what products I should try using to make my new growth soft and easier to comb through?

  • @cmcandys hey am in my sixth month as well and what i do iswash with condition (instead ofshampoo)my hair with creme of nature and i fancy it wrks really well..normally the hair is hard buecuz it hard so try moisturizing as well good luck!!!

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO! SERIOUSLY! it was like a blessing that jus appeared. i'v been down lately and missing my hair being relaxed and out. Even tho i dont want 2 go back but i jus havent been appreciating the "natural state of mind". So thank you and may truly God bless you.

  • Thank you for this vid of encouragement. We naturalistas all feel moments of struggle. I felt it when I first loc'd my hair & it goes thru stages & I wondered what was I doing. I REALLY felt it 10 years in & I first wore my hair long & natural. Curl pattern has a mind of its own & it looks like a real 'fro & you feel ugly. You feel naked & you think your hair looks untamed. I was in my head killing my hair-esteem. But I'm good now. And yes the dudes you attract while natural r different. Tx!

  • Thank you so much for this video it made me feel so much better. I transitioned for a year and finished cutting in december. I wore my hair out two days but It is very thick and has tiny tiny curls. It dries and becomes so tangled and no curl definition whatsoever. I have my hair in kinky twists right now but As much as I have youtubed and joined natural hair sites...idk what to do for my hair. My best friend and I are both going new naturals and trying to figure everything out. Help! S.O.S.

  • maybe i can help? I'm only 2.5 months post relaxer (going natural too :)). some products that i've been using have made my new growth & hair texture more manageable & softer. some are: pantene pro-v moisture renewal conditioner(every other day), pantene pro-v deep fortifying rinse of treatment(made my hair softer), wave neaveau moisturizing finishing lotion-i put this on my hair after towel drying hair and then 'seal' my hair w/ tea tree oil. i've heard morrocan oil-sally's for $10-is good too.

  • but sealing hair is needed to keep the moisture in your hair. i've also heard good things about kinky curly curling custard for defining curls but i haven't actually tried it before.

  • finally the truth?thank u

  • I just want you to know that the upper and lower lined eye look FANTASTIC on you! rock it!

  • I will say that I was discouraged today when I saw my TWA in the mirror and none of my friends are natural. I know going back to a relaxer I would just regret it. So I continue to watch youtube videos to lift my spirits when i'm down or help me create some kind of new concoction. So thank you for reposting this video and thank you natural hair community. :)

  • Hello Erin, i am one of your fellow Marylanders (from the South end). I have been natural for nearly 20 years (I am a bit older than you). My journey was different, I just chopped the hair off, started from scratch, and didn't look back. Anger at the society we live in also helped me take the first step, but I am so glad I did. My advice: give it a FAIR try, if you definitely can't handle it, go back to the creamy crack.

    Karen S, MUA

  • my hair is breaking so bad and i was afraid of going natural but girl this is the push i needed

  • OMGOODNESS, u are so right about the men you attract with natural hair. I couldn't belive it. I was wonderfully surprised. When I went natural I did it for me and it made me happy but the guys are definitely responding in ways I never imagined. To walk down the street and hear the words "beautiful sister" or "love your hair" is AMAZING!!!!

  • agreed....i went to the club once with my natural hair....and i was like...im not even payin attention to these men cuz they arent lookin at me...but i started partyin...n they were rappin me up...they barely talked to me when i had my GOOD weave in....surprise

  • @PrincessNi17 Exactly!!! Isn't that the greatest?

  • @PrincessNi17

I think that men who appreciate women with natural hair are more inclined to diversity than others. It is also about understanding that there is not only one type of beauty but unlimited versions of it. It is time for women to realise how beautiful we are in every colours and shape. Having say that it took me so long to take the decision myself. I have a good lenght of relaxed hair and just started transitioning. No matter how long it will take, it will all worth it at the end!

  • OK, I am in tears right now because my hair is so freakin' dry and matted, HELP ME!!!!! I am trying so hard to not do it so either you let me know when you can either shampoo my hair for me or talk me thru my feeling of defeat! CALL ME!!!!

  • any tips/products for dry flaky scalp? and is it better to co-wash or regular?

  • try tea-tree oil

  • I used to live in Middle east and i realized that ALL the girls from asia use NATURAL things on hair. Olive oil, coconut oil, Blackseed oil etc for their hair, Plus montly treatment with henna.

Now Whats better for your hair, chemicals that ''claim'' good ingredients or natural things u make use of at home?

I know some will say asian hair isnt the same, but I am an african girl and have erin's hair and using natural ingredients at home has done wonder for my hair !

  • I've been doing mini chops once a month since my boyfriend is acting all weird about me having short hair.

  • I need help! I'm 2 mos into transitioning. I haven't done the BC yet. My hair is SUPER DRY and breaking off/fallin out like crazy! What can I do to make it stop?

  • @Charliogal.... Moisturize moisturize moisturize... invest in a leave in conditioner that has olive oil or almond oil... If you can get your hands on the NYLA oil hair conditioner i hear that it is great for natural hair also....

  • I can definitly AGREE with attracting different men. The real men come out when you have natural hair. What a blessing! lol

  • Wow. im so glad i looked at ur video today. im so sick and tired of my natural hair. My hair just will not grow.

I have been natural for 3yrs and I still have very short hair. I needed to hear what you had to say...thanks ( im in tears right now)

  • Are you moisturizing and conditioning regularly? When your hair is moisturized and conditioned it grows much faster because it is subject to less breakage.

  • Make sure to moisturize and condition often. Moisturized hair isn't subject to as much breakage, thus it grows faster.

  • im asian with very natural kinky hair& ppl think im mixed because my hair is what they call negro hair, so for many years i like tormented my hair with chemicals and instruments to make it like my sisters and mothers hair. but bout a yr ago, i realize my hair is me n just because its different frm the rest of my race doesnt mean im less of my asian heritage nor less of a beautiful woman not all african american girls have trouble with being natural and going natural. thx's 4 the upload, sista

  • what color foundation do u use?? I always have the worst trouble trying to find some that looks good on me!!! Its so frustrating.

  • I've been natural for 2 years and I'm never going back. ^_^

It was actually easier for me to be natural. Locs are even easier, which I have now.

  • Your eyelashes are on point! Every time you blink, I swear I'm being fanned.

  • u look flawless in this vid.

    and thnx!

  • i went natural 4 or 5 yrs ago, i'd been wearing a relaxer since i was 13 and i'm 29 now. The relaxer made me forget how beautiful my natural hair was and i'll never relax my hair again.

  • I'm mixed and my hair is has EXTREME curls...Ringlets everywhere haha...I bleached my hair completely a while back and then dyed it back to dark brown and so I'm still trying to let it grow out withought putting chemicals or anything in my hair because the bleach killed my hair! It was pretty bad.... And it gets REALLY dry if I don't use anything at all in it after I wash it but I have been using Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey and some other products by them and they work REALLY well for me.

  • How do you comb out lock... is that only styled locks of untwisted locks? My mom has locks down to her lower back but she has been wanting to get rid of them and thought her only alternative was to cut them off.

  • I've been natural for about 7 years & I have enjoyed every second of it! I too, transitioned because my relaxed hair was beginning to break off and I wasn't getting the growth I wanted. I transitioned with the help of micro braids and sew-ins. I have been able to grow & retain MANY inches of hair, and even felt confident enough w/my hair regimen to cut it off & start over lol. I am a member of Black Hair Media Forum & I love the ladies over there! They have taught me so much! :-)

  • it easier than most people think and i think most people give up too soon.

  • As an older 50-year old woman, I really appreciate your hair videos. Ive been natural for over 3 years now, I cover the back with a clip-on, and gently hot curl the top, brush the sides back. Ive learned som much about my natural hair from you younger girls that I never ever learned about caring for natural hair when I was your age. Thank you and keep up the good work.

  • I got a weave for 6 months which helped during the transition point now 2 years later, i love my natural hair and will not get another relaxer ever. my friend turned me on to argon oil which makes it really soft. last summer I was the queen of twist outs and roller sets. also i invested in a fhi iron and a good hair dryer and my hair is fabulous. i don't miss the relaxer either. thanks for the vid.

  • I have been trying to go natural my hair fell completly out by a perm and i cried so i have tried diffenrt thing what can i do

  • I havde nothad a relaxer since August. I want to go natural but I am struggling with it. I wear wigs to cover the transition because I have not done the big chop yet. I really wonder what I would look like with natural hair. IDK...I need some help! I am about 5 secs from a perm.

  • DON'T DO IT!!!. Here's what you need to do: get a really good shampoo, condtioner(Reddken Smooth Down), a blow dryer w/ comb attachment, a good quaility flat iron, a rat tail comb, heat protectant (CHI iron guard) and Pink Oil glosser. If your still having problems send me a message and I'll assist you.

  • just wondering what blow dryer do you recommend?

  • i use a Hot Tools blowdryer, it came with it's own comb attachment but since then i had to replace it w/ a new one from the hair store.

  • I've tried to go natural 3 times and each time i broke down in less than 6 months. Broke down and ran back to my relaxer. im so annoyed, i really wanna go natural but natural hair is alot to deal with.

  • what works for me is water. i have a spray bottle i lightly spray my hair daily and then moisturize with grease oil or whatever..but water locks in the moisture for me

  • She is telling the truth about the men you attract as a natural. They seem to be interested in how I feel versus how I look. I still look good:) but they seem to believe that I'm courageous enough to be different and refuse to be put in the box that society has created for me. I'm comfortable in my on skin and hair and I think men know that and are attracted to the confidence.

  • @TheFoolishCinderella i agree i have noticed that as well and ive been natural now for 5 years and im commin up on my napturalversity in another month ,my hair is healthy and longer than when i was relaxed...my hair relaxed was at my shoulder and my hair natural is down the center of my back and thick...but yes your statement is most definally true

  • @TheFoolishCinderella

I have noticed exactly the same thing to the point where my friends are actually talking about my new admirers a whole lot, lol.

  • Here's my problem, and I welcome all suggestions: My hair stays dry, all of the time, doesn't matter that my conditioner comes from Trader Joe's or the health food store, that I use shea butter (unrefined) glycerin coconut oil, sweet almond oil, my scalp always itches (I've been completely natural for 1yr 2mos) and when I detangle I still lose a lot of hair WTH is really going on. Any advice?

  • thank you Erin. I have been natural since 97. I permed it three times and cut in all back off each time b4 I can even have it in my hair for longer than 3 weeks. Hang in there ladies. The look takes some getting used to. It looks different but trust me when I tell you that when you learn how to take care of it, you hair will be beautiful. Erin is so right about moisture. Use Utube vids to help you. They have all helped me & I though I had it all figured out.

  • Thank you for the encouraging video. I will never go back to a relaxer again. I would have never thought I would say that. I love my natural afro kinky hair!! I always wear my hair styled in a way that mekes me feel beautiful. I had a press and curl and felt like I was cheating on my hair lol!!

  • This video was so on point esspecially about the type of men you attract as being a natural the brothers are so much different from the men that I would attract with my wigs/weaves/relaxed hair. Going natural was the best decision I could have made, its been 6 months since I did my bc, and Im just loving my hair and styling it in my twists/twists outs. I can't wait to see what my hair looks likes in the next 6 months. Thanks for this video and sharing your support/info :)

  • Good Video

    Great advice!

i will never go back to relaxers either - YUCK!

i've discovered a dominican lady that flattens my hair out - it's easy every day - but done on MY NATURAL HAIR! hey!

love ya sis - you're lookin' good.

  • your makeup looks so pretty on this video

  • Wonderful video and great encouragement. I have been natural for 10 years now and it has been a hard journey!

You look wonderful in this video by the way. Makeup, outfit, accessories are bangin!!

Thank you for all you do for us!!

  • Make that video comparing the men you attract being natural vs. the perm.

  • Dreading is the hugest problem I have as a natural woman. I can't ever completely comb my hair to the point where it is tangle-free. And, when I do comb, I loose so much hair which is a huge problem as I am 2'' shy of full bra strap length. Suggestions, anyone?!

  • Been there and done that...and with the Lord's help I got through it. He said I am wonderfully made and I believe Him. It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. I choose to please God. Once I stopped looking horizontally and started looking vertically I began to love my curls. I teach my two curly head girls(lol) to love their curls also. Hang in there and may the Lord continue to bless you.

    Excellent vid.

  • Great video. I have relaxed hair but I am trying to get less relazers a year(between 2-3) Relaxers do damage your hair. That is why I am trying to use less chemicals. Really great advice b/c even I with relaxed hair need to use more moisture and really regardless of what you have natural or relaxed you need to give your hair some TLC. Take care of your hair. MOISTURE, Moisuture, Moisture is your best friend.
