I just can't get NFS 1 SE to work on DOSbox, thanks to stupid Windows Vista. If anyone knows how to get the original NFS SE running through DOSbox on Vista, please shout out and give a list of instructions. I would greatly appreciate it :)

@Wadsy591 I had the same problem. You have to mount your cdrom drive (or iso drive) per - mount d x:\ -t cdrom - . NFS doen`t reconize your cdrom drive without the "-t cdrom". Have fun playing. NFS1 is the best racing game ever. I didn`t play it for over 12 years now, but now I play it day and night .. like in the old days. Absolutly fantastic game.

I like the early verions of the game, I really lost interest in the 00's when they started to make what seemed to me to be videogame versions of fast and the furious. it seems like the franchise has often been cursed with an identity crisis where it doesn't know what it wants to be. to me it never really feels like an arcade game and it isn't realistic enough to be a sim but then in recent times it has also chopped and changed between being a pursuit game and a circuit racer.

A good lot of you are too blind with nostalgia I swear. Saying this is the best and only NSF game is like saying the original SMB was the only real Mario title. It was my first game and yes it has old charm, but to say every succesor title after it doesn't count just makes you stupid. The sound effects are horrible, especially when the car is sliding around. The only Need for Speed that had substance. Today's NFS are too Hollywoodish. Somehow the way the car slides when cornering was very immersive. That's what the today's NFS titles fail to understand, they're too much concerned about pushing the graphics envelop that they forget to look at the playability appeal. Not just NFS but all games in general nowadays.

It's okay for younger types to know Need for Speed since "NFS: Underground." Not only did I play this demo, but I also have (still have) this game (The Need for Speed: SE, in fact). "Need for Speed 2: SE" is still my all-time favorite NFS. This video does bring back some good memories, though. These were the days. This, and NFS2, NFS2:SE, and even NFS3.
