  • wheres part 2,didn't sound familiar going into it

  • To bad Garcia is dead

  • Saw this song live by Furthur last April I'm Georgia ...mind=blown

  • I am thinking Wier did most of this work

  • One of my favorite guitar solos

  • I prefer taking my writing assignments home whenever I can. I just can't be forced to sit in a school and write on demand without inspiration. So, I come home, put Terrapin Station on, and score another perfect assignment.

  • yea this is a great cleaning song when im ripped as hell hahaha

  • Epic

  • Nice and crisp and loud well done.PSB95.

    but a cleaning song?LOL

  • Robert Hunter wrote it,like most of the deads lyrics.

  • beautiful like you:)

  • Who wrote the lyrics?

  • The first time I saw them, they were still the Warlocks. The last time I saw them was their last California Concert. Took 45 minutes to find parking. Looked at the street sign and it said, Garcia Street. Driving home that night we got 2 flat tires. We pulled over at the side of the highway and there was a sign that said, Adopt a Highway - Greatful Dead Fans. What's that about a long journey it's been.

  • @tixximmi tell me more please ! i wanna hear your stories

  • When I used to write articles for my blog, I'd listen to this song. One hell of an article. XD

  • not a dead head but i love this song...i'm only 16 but i'm high as fuck and i wish everyone would just listen to this song... hey everyone

  • Fantastic song by a fantastic group :)

  • my "laying in bed for 3 hours song" is really 3 songs in a row that i heard on my first trip... Alice D. millionare>Playing in the Band>Hidden Beach by Mickey Hart... which is really only some twenty minutes but man did I have a good time... anywho.... terrapin station... you just can't get any better than this...

  • bong on

  • Fuck You Prick!!!

  • @skyroe2 troll. got back to your troll home.

  • Hah Hah. I:m a total Head, wouldn't want the Commaner in Chief to even try to understand this song. :)

  • A CLEANING SONG!!?? Oh man this song is too epic to be demoted to that!

  • Love this so much.......

    peace.♥and rock

  • THANK YOU !!!! PINKSTARBURST95 For putting this out here and making it accessable you are asweetHeart!!!!!!

  • A TRUE STORY TELLING SONG--LONG LIVE THE DEAD

  • Comment removed

  • Quite simply, the greates song ever recorded. It's as if Mozart whispered in Jerrys ear "write this.'

  • WE JUST killed Osama!!! Fina-fuckingly!

  • Inspiration moved me brightly....I remember where I was the first time I listened to my first Dead song, I mean other than casey Jones...A friend have left his tape by "mistake" in my car and I listened to it driving and soon I sparked one up and the rest is history...I sold everything and hitchiked cross country to follow these cats...

  • Late at night I drive around and listen to it. This is the only song I can listen to when I'm coming down. If I haven't slept in days Jerry can put me to bed.

  • as a child i loved the story here still do, they create quite a visual

  • The Dead approach Classical music here...

  • I'm happy to admit that I am responsible for at least 65,000 of these views.

  • @markschwinzer why would you laugh at jerry dead your a fuckin prick go die in a hole, he was so cool how could you

  • jerry garcia is dead. hahahahahahahahaha

  • @markschwinzer Jerry is a dead-deadhead/dopehead, but Jerry is a winner when it comes to being a decent/kind person, Jerry wins, and ur small pecker goes home

  • @markschwinzer jerry wasnt a tool like yourself he was kind decent and funny to everyone

  • jazz-blues? traditional folk styles? Oh yea...progressive acid folk blues Jazz?

Something like that....I so love this!

  • is obama a really dead head?

jerry garcia lives on. his guitar made magic

  • i love this song. it draws you into a story from someone wiser than me. his job is to shed light, not to master

  • My all time favorite song........

  • One Person Hasn't Reached Terrapin

  • I remember listening to this song when I lived in Berkeley during the late 70s. Good times.

  • wonderful....my Dad used to play this when I was a kid and I remember hearing it when I was 7 or 8....I love this song!

  • my gran used to listen to me sing it, and instead of terrapin, she'd say 'terrible', hehe, to this day its still quite a funny memory as we were driving to the pocanos

  • let my inspiration flow...

GOD what does this song do to me?

It melts, it burns, it soothes....

there is something in his voice....ahhh...divine

  • @AlouaisA Yeah man!!

  • Okay. Maybe I jumped the gun with the masters of Prog Rock statement but all in all it's still a very very cool proggy type number. :-)

  • Totally a cleaning song.

  • @ThePinkfloyd51 MORE LIKE A "CLEANSING" SONG

  • ICH cant glaube auch, daß die Musik jetzt. Keine keine Musik, sprechen mit einem Schlag und naked girls in den Hintergrund.

  • The Grateful Dead proving that they are masters of the Prog Rock genre with this tune. Pure genius.

  • @spudsapoppin FAR from the "masters of the Prog Rock genre". Weir and Lesh would be the first to tell you that.

  • You say "sub", I say SUB. Think about that now! ;o)

  • I can hear Jerry in my mind saying

"I do mushrooms now and again to clean out the pipes"or something to that effect.I've had heaven and hell at a dead show. This is one of my top 3 dead songs

  • The street i live on is called Terrapin no joke either

  • A GRAND song....sitting in my small shabby room in jammies, I experienced a musical performance fit for a palatial audience of the most supreme form of intellect...one of the very few songs which can do that

  • This is arguably their best song. I'm no "dead head" but more of a passing listener.

No offense to the many nut jobs who take this band for a religion and Jerry as their guru, but I never cared to immerse myself in their culture the way so many people did.

But that said, I do admit that I enjoy the odd Grateful Dead song. This is my favourite.

  • It cleans my soul, so your right! It is a cleaning song.

  • outstanding

  • How many awesome versus can you stick into one song? Whatever the answer is, it's this song. And to top it off with a kick ass meolody that builds and builds. The storyteller's 'job is to shed light not to master'. Rockin tune.

  • @tccmarkets1

    name that key!

  • @edslides G Major. what do i win?

  • @edslides G Major. what do i win?

  • This song comes on like a dream. It's a tune about the movements of the mind, of love and loss with utter confusion. It's about the sun on hills reddening the clouds, but you don't know- in that moment, if it's rising or setting. There needs to be the rest of the song here: "While you were gone, these spaces turned to darkness, the obvious was hid..." .

  • Bought this album in a college cutout bin and decades later it is still my favorite Dead song.

  • some rise, some fall, some climb......

  • "A Cleaning Song"....you so pegged it! :)

  • Was this a concert? I can't find this exact version anywhere. Found one in Anaheim Stadium in 87, that sounds very similar, but it def. is not the same.

  • @freethetech this is the studio album version.

  • cleaning a bowl? to the screen.

  • I sat slouched gazing at my computer screen .... oh look its 1 in the morning ... 15 btw, there is hope

  • if you have read stphens kings dark tower series then think about all the coincidences in between this song and the story. its kinda crazy

  • That Sucks that it's not the whole song! BOOOO!

  • it's not a cleaning song. it's a cleansing song.

  • Something about this song makes tears come to my eyes, it's beautiful.

  • If only we could get the president to listen to this song, we could clean up the world....

  • @pinkstarburst95 The president has definitely heard Terrapin before. Seach "deadheads for Obama"

  • @pinkstarburst95 actually, obama probally has heard this song, he is a deadhead XD i might not agree with all his political views, but its sure good to know the leader of our country is part of the family.

  • @yoyoyo2488 obamas a dead head?

  • @1woodstockPeace he had the dead play at his inauguration party, and had them come to the whitehouse, and they hu8ng scarlet begonias all around it. he has called him self a deadhead along with bill clinton i think.

  • @yoyoyo2488 awesome man:)

  • I just cleaned my bathroom and kitchen - listening to my entire Terrapin Station CD after not hearing it in some time. Then I come to YouTube to listen to Terrapin again, and find they're calling it a great cleaning song...what a kosmic koincidence!

  • I like the "cleaning song really" tag...hehe. Gives house-cleaning a whole new angle.

  • With all the talk of 'cleaning", let me say that Terrapin IS a cleansing song, as dictated by the Terrapin and the Harvest. Blessings to all of you on this Harvest moon, and Autumnal Equinox. Remember to LOVE One Another, unabashedly and unapologetically. Bring in, cast off, dance like a fool and create the change you need for this new year. If you get confused, you should know what to do by now. Shhhhhhhhh.

  • "cleaning song" fuck that this is a laying in bed stoned as fuck for three hours song

  • @elainaisblack Agreed, but we can't do that all the time can we?

  • @pinkstarburst95 Agreed, but I sure ain't gonna clean all the time either.

to be honest i'm pretty sure i've been stoned more often than cleaned since I knew how great this song is

  • @pinkstarburst95 this is a drug itself, no need for substance. Atleast for me

  • @pinkstarburst95 umm yes we can :)

  • @pinkstarburst95 yes we can

  • @elainaisblack perhaps "cleaning" in the sense of cleansing your soul.. i can see layin around stoned as a metaphysical cleansing ritual :)

  • @onieau good one. =)

  • @elainaisblack

i think you may have meant 'cleanSing; song", and you are correct sir, (or madam).

this iong invalidates every "rock" song written since 2005.

  • @elainaisblack - but it's only 10 minutes long. You could get up and clean for the other 2:50

  • @elainaisblack Probably the only group you can start a song....... go get a shower...... have breakfast, and come back listening to the same song.

  • @elainaisblack exactly lol i did this yesterday i put this song on repeat for probably a half hour and reclined back on my chair doing somthing on the internet (forget)

  • @ZeRoFaLLeNsK8ErX dude im doing that right now. I havent smoked in 2 months im blown.

  • @elainaisblack Hahahahahaha this sounds like one of the getting fucked on smoking a bong with your brothers song

  • @elainaisblack fuck that get off ur bed and and dance for three hours song

  • @elainaisblack cleaning of the soul. so you're both right LOL

  • prachtig

  • "Cleaning song?" That's meant to be satirical, right?

  • The spiral lights of Venus rising first and shining best. Miss you Jerry.

  • This is their best song.

  • "Let My Inspiration Flow ... "

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • 09. August 1995

  • i was born to this song. you can't really beat that... hah

  • actually, this isn't terrapin station, it's lady with a fan

  • has anyone ever read the dark tower series by stephen king. cause there are sum strange coincidences goin on here

  • Were is the other terrapin? the one that was slower, I liked it so much this one and none of the others I can find are the same... it was winterland 77 I think

  • @holysweater There are allot of Terripain Station's, but try "Dick's Picks volume 15" that might be the one you're thinking of.

  • @holysweater This is the studio version. There are many many other versions of this song that the dead did live.

  • here we go...

  • Why can't other kids enjoy real music like this?

  • Some Rise , Some Fall, Some Climb.......to get to Terrapin

  • Still gives me goosebumps!!!

  • I barely started to listen to the Grateful Dead, my first album i ever listened to was Terrapin Station. loved every song, especially Terrapin. when im sad or feeling bad, this song really lifts my spirits up. im very sorry that i was not there when the Dead were touring. my sympathies go out to Jerry Garcia, he is like a father figure to me. this song is just genius, every verse and sound just go hand in hand. the Grateful Dead will be in my heart for ever. R. I. P. Jerry Garcia

  • woooh man this music fucking blows my fragile little mind!

  • blotter is an absorbent paper used as a medium for LSD, i believe

  • Garcia and Hunter are warning all of mankind of the enlightment of 12/21/2012.Its clear that they had some cosmic insight of whats coming down the road..is it the end or just the beginning.......

  • I actually think you're right, but maybe not specifically that date... I just think it has that end of world suggestion!

  • I first heard this in 81. my buddy lit some candles, and narrated this after we had just dropped some blotter.I hated this band until i opened my mind and tripped.been a fan ever since. such longevity in a group. and what a following! thank you 4 posting this!!!!!

  • enlighten me: what is blotter

  • "Life is good, unless you weaken." I love you, Grampa Doc.

  • fucking love this

  • let my inspiration flow........ :)

  • I've been waiting to hear this for 7 years. A guy I knew said this was the most beautiful song he ever heard. He may have gone a little overboard, but it's a good song still.

  • This song dedicated to you Dad, I love you and miss you ~Sis

  • @Exoskeletorz also dedicated to my dad... peace be with both <3
