I prefer taking my writing assignments home whenever I can. I just can't be forced to sit in a school and write on demand without inspiration. So, I come home, put Terrapin Station on, and score another perfect assignment.
The first time I saw them, they were still the Warlocks. The last time I saw them was their last California Concert. Took 45 minutes to find parking. Looked at the street sign and it said, Garcia Street. Driving home that night we got 2 flat tires. We pulled over at the side of the highway and there was a sign that said, Adopt a Highway - Greatful Dead Fans. What's that about a long journey it's been.
my "laying in bed for 3 hours song" is really 3 songs in a row that i heard on my first trip... Alice D. millionare>Playing in the Band>Hidden Beach by Mickey Hart... which is really only some twenty minutes but man did I have a good time... anywho.... terrapin station... you just can't get any better than this...
Inspiration moved me brightly....I remember where I was the first time I listened to my first Dead song, I mean other than casey Jones...A friend have left his tape by "mistake" in my car and I listened to it driving and soon I sparked one up and the rest is history...I sold everything and hitchiked cross country to follow these cats...
Late at night I drive around and listen to it. This is the only song I can listen to when I'm coming down. If I haven't slept in days Jerry can put me to bed.
@markschwinzer Jerry is a dead-deadhead/dopehead, but Jerry is a winner when it comes to being a decent/kind person, Jerry wins, and ur small pecker goes home
my gran used to listen to me sing it, and instead of terrapin, she'd say 'terrible', hehe, to this day its still quite a funny memory as we were driving to the pocanos
"I do mushrooms now and again to clean out the pipes"or something to that effect.I've had heaven and hell at a dead show. This is one of my top 3 dead songs
A GRAND song....sitting in my small shabby room in jammies, I experienced a musical performance fit for a palatial audience of the most supreme form of intellect...one of the very few songs which can do that
This is arguably their best song. I'm no "dead head" but more of a passing listener.
No offense to the many nut jobs who take this band for a religion and Jerry as their guru, but I never cared to immerse myself in their culture the way so many people did.
But that said, I do admit that I enjoy the odd Grateful Dead song. This is my favourite.
How many awesome versus can you stick into one song? Whatever the answer is, it's this song. And to top it off with a kick ass meolody that builds and builds. The storyteller's 'job is to shed light not to master'. Rockin tune.
This song comes on like a dream. It's a tune about the movements of the mind, of love and loss with utter confusion. It's about the sun on hills reddening the clouds, but you don't know- in that moment, if it's rising or setting. There needs to be the rest of the song here: "While you were gone, these spaces turned to darkness, the obvious was hid..." .
Was this a concert? I can't find this exact version anywhere. Found one in Anaheim Stadium in 87, that sounds very similar, but it def. is not the same.
@pinkstarburst95 actually, obama probally has heard this song, he is a deadhead XD i might not agree with all his political views, but its sure good to know the leader of our country is part of the family.
@1woodstockPeace he had the dead play at his inauguration party, and had them come to the whitehouse, and they hu8ng scarlet begonias all around it. he has called him self a deadhead along with bill clinton i think.
I just cleaned my bathroom and kitchen - listening to my entire Terrapin Station CD after not hearing it in some time. Then I come to YouTube to listen to Terrapin again, and find they're calling it a great cleaning song...what a kosmic koincidence!
With all the talk of 'cleaning", let me say that Terrapin IS a cleansing song, as dictated by the Terrapin and the Harvest. Blessings to all of you on this Harvest moon, and Autumnal Equinox. Remember to LOVE One Another, unabashedly and unapologetically. Bring in, cast off, dance like a fool and create the change you need for this new year. If you get confused, you should know what to do by now. Shhhhhhhhh.
