  • Finally to the dumb female Professor working at the ASTRONOMY Department at Los Angelas State University, working at present as an "Assistant Professor only of Astronomy". The ? She could not answer concerning "What is the name of the front lens of a "Dmitry Maksutov" Cassegrain or Newtonian-Maksutov Catiadoptric Telescope?Optical Engineers="its a"Meniscus Lens"by Optician Dmitry Maksutov of the Russian Federation Argonautica Democracies",who knows a lot more than"Most Professional Astronomers"!!

  • If they don't complete the Exact Structure & Physics-Chemistry of Our"UNIVERSE"!Then we,Engineers armed with"Unlimited Time of Classical Auto-Guidance Long 6 hour Night Exposures(& Stacked.)Digital both C.C.D & Pro-DSLRs are going to Use our Celestron & Meade Schmidt EdgeHD&ACF Cassegrains&Complete Photographs of ALL Computerized N.G.C.,Messier,&IC Objects Galaxies,Quasers&Galaxy Emission,Reflection,Diffusion Nebula &Explosive Super-Novae Planetary Nebula,Globular Clusters,Complete Our UNIVERSE!

  • Finally Gentlemen Engineers,of Le Jules VERNE,Le Jules Viera Engineers & Computer Science Graduates "retired".Our last and final"frontier rests in our lovely Passion for Astronomy for the latest in"Digital Astro-Photography C.C.D. SBIG,MEADE PRO III or II C.C.D. L.R.G.B. Cameras & Pro-DSLRs,Gentlemen!If Astronomers don't get the final Science job done for"Our Universe in this 21st Century Digital both at ESO(European Space Observatories at the Atacama ,Plateau in Chile or New Hubble Telescopes"!

  • So,Since ASTRONOMY was Our Science of Hobby Passion. It is Engineers of the Advanced BEST Astro-Photographers that do NOT Advertise until now, because Mr. P.H.D.sthink they still know more than we do?The BEST Astro-Photographers of Sky & Telescope Magazine & ASTRONOMY Magazine are Graduated or Semi-2to 3 Years Graduated Engineers,Try our Skills at"THE UNIVERSE"! SUCCESS,with Our CELESTRON Schmidt-Cassegrains EdgeHD(Aplanatic.)or Classics,MEADE 16" ACF &RX-400s!Astronomy hobby!

  • What I am trying to say here Engineer friens,is that in "each" of our Science Engineering Classes, there was a seperate Bsc.Masters Science P.H.D.s. What that translates to is that each Masters Science P.H.D. was "Specialized in his own Science field or Mathematics-Logarythmic fields".But We, Engineers had to Compulsory take "ALL" Bsc.Masters of Science P.H.D. Classes while our Teachers P.H.D.s were only"Specalized".We had"General&Specific All Science Knowledge that We ALL Knew,ASTRONOMY needed!!

  • Remember Engineer friends,we had to"compulsory"take all the"Sciences,Pysics,Chemistry,Algebriac Logarythmic Mathematics Lab Classes until late 8:00 P.M.Weeknights from 8:00 A.M. Electronic/Electricity Classes,We were all men!Mathematics Calculus was now Logarythmic Expressed Calculus1,2,3,Scientific Notations were now Expressed in Logarythmic Notations that only other Engineers could understand.Computers Fortran,Pilot,Pascal,JAVA,Watt-Five Univax was Compuler Interpreters of Software Engineers!!

  • I feel now, it is very"safe to say that Engineers have much more knowledge than Most if not ALL,Bsc.P.H.D.s in the General &Specific Sciences"!The only kind of P.H.D.that will"know more than Engineer Graduates, are Only Bsc.,Masters Science.P.H.Ds.This is because"Masters of Science P.H.D.shave the Most Current Science Updated Knowledge Exams,6 Full University Years Bsc +2 extra Years for Masters of Science to P.H.D.s.But just regular Bachelor Science P.H.D.sDONOT have the Knowledge of Engineers!!

  • 1 P.H.D.Female from the California University of Los Angelas 200 inch(5.08 Meter)Palomar Observatory Professor was Fully"Corrected & Brain Tested"!This occured when I"Corrected the P.H.D.Professor of Astronomy, for which I am an Astro-Photographer of ASTRONOMY Magazine December1982 BackIssues,Fully Corrected an"Astronomy U.S.dumb P.H.D.,who called my"Schmidt-Cassegrains,as being Reflectors".I finished the P.H.D.in Astronomy by aking"What Is the name of the front lens, used in Maksutov Telescopes"?

  • Engineers like myself, We had to do ALL the Sciences before we ever Graduated. I am a Fully 49 year old holding both Honourary General Sciences Grade 13 Collegiate Institute Ontario,CANADA 24Karat Gold Collegiate Mature Graduate of 1982, 2 years Chemical Engineering 1983-1985, 2 years College Computer Sciences. I have Successfully wiped out :Chess "Checkmated most U.S.A. PHDs with FULL PHDs Certified Full 20 Question I.Q.Tests of 156 (78% averages.).PHDs got only 125 or 130 I.Q.s Certified!!

  • good now use it to grow some weed

  • It would be cool if you could design that compound parabolic to flip over that picnic table like an umbrella when not being used... sort of duel purpose or at least an easy storage option just flip it over like a roof.

  • @trentontrading ironically, that is exactly what happened to the larger piece, then I moved and it became scrap parts for something else... lol solar cooker still working great though!

  • Junk muzak & no narrative. -- Poor vid.

  • @viking1au yeah I agree... i made this before most people have smartphones and convenient video cameras...lol anyway... thanks for posting .....for some its better than nothing...

  • When I was a UN Peacekeeper in East Timor I made one like yours with instructions from the internet. I used the foil from dinner trays from the kitchen so it wasn't wrinkled and I gave it to our interpreter for his wife to cook rice each day. Needless to say the locals where impressed as they knew nothing about solar cooking. They are fun to make and use. Thanks for the video

  • @zacandmillie Im very glad it is useful! I just made slideshow video on a whim to document my progression and then posed a few videos of it cooking... they really do work... unfortunately I moved and buried projects but I plan to make a better improved video now that I have a good camera... someday! lol

  • good idea. however stray focal points is potentially a fire hazard.

  • @tinidor2008 this is why a well constructed parabolic is good opposed to lets say a lens... since you can contain the focal point inside the parabolic... it is dangerous however to pickup a pan thats been sitting in it without gloves! lol I KNOW! lol

  • BUMBO CLAAAAAAAWT!

    Big up! thats the shit!

  • I just watched your videos on this..I was wondering if you could post the dimessions. Have you done any adjustments or have any other ideas on making it a better cooker?

  • I have some new ideas coming this summer... Ive been researching other energy capturing devices and of course work...lol also recumbent bike designs... this summer I hope to have more working concepts with video instead of slideshows!

  • I made a "Solar Design T-Square". Basically the problem with parabolic is that you have to move the darn thing all the time to follow the sun. A few degrees of sun movement and much of the light misses the cooking pot. The T-Square shows that different reflector shapes should work better. One of your solar cookers is a DATS? They have a very good reputation. They are not quite parabolic and are designed to cook for about 2 hours.

  • Did you get this one to work properly? I´m sorry, but this shape looks highly inefficient, I built the same one, but curving the cardboard, trying to resmble a paraboloid, that´s the idea. (The box is actualy worse!).

  • @surferboy36O

Works Great for what it was.. I have cooked chicken and rice, fried onions ect... it works very good.. one secret is sealing the pan.. I use oven bags and I use a dark pan to absorb the heat... cast iron is nice but takes too long to heat... the point of the video was just a test and a successful one that with this foam core insulation and a couple hrs you have something that stays cool and weighs nothing and works!

  • why did you make this? what does it do.

im just curious not trying to be a dick or anything

  • Its just a study in solar parabolic designs... you can use it to culminate light to make a solar cooker... watch some other videos of mine where I use it to cook food... ive hit 400deg in this thing!

  • Great design. Loved the background music too, it's quite relaxing. Thanks for sharing your idea.

  • Looks like a really good design.

btw, what's the name of that piano piece and who performs it?

  • is that aluminum foil?

    nice worj by the way

  • its Aluminum Duct tape... it is very reflective... you would use aluminum foil to bring cost down but this tape applies SO much easier.... the backing of the insulation fiber board is also a metallic material... it really was not necessary for this build since it is on the outside but you could just us that side.. works but not as well as the aluminum tape...

  • aluminium tape from a hardware shop, or fake chrome decal material from an automotive shop work best, thinner is better to negate bubbling

  • thank you Mrx

  • Music about a lost love

  • Lorie Line? or David Lanz?

  • You know this is a video about a dang parabolic solar cooker. why does it have such depressing music?

  • Terrific idea will work fersure, but I just cannot accolade still pictures in youtube videos. I could read a book with pictues just as well. Nevertheless thanks for sharing the IDEA.

  • that thing is bigger than an elephant. are you planning to cook one?

  • Hahaha... well the square reflector box was an afterthought and I do not use it much... the parabolic works fantastic! I have a few videos here or it working... lol I stil dont know what to do with that huge Square box... storage that is...lol

  • I liked the music, but it kept reminding me of when my dog died, now I'm sad. Thanks a lot :-(

  • haha yeah... its a little too relaxing I guess...lol but it is the story of a dying electric grid and use of fossle fuels for the free and abundant solar... lol so.. I guess metaphorically it is a funeral and rebirth... maybe I should have pics of a gas range and electric bills at the beginning and a 2 parter with more upbeat music for the coming future events! :D

  • But in a parabolic or loook like, the focus of the sun light, where the heat gety high, is not the botton of the parabola. So how that will focus the sun on the food?????

  • That music made me want to cut my wrists...

but I muted it and played some Tiesto over your video and it went much better.

That aside, will your solar death ray thingie handle direct sun and or high temps???

  • yup... it is insulation board.. also it doesn't get hot... it reflects the heat onto dark pan or surface that absorbs the heat...

  • It comes with a semi reflective back from LOWES or Home Depot or similar ... but it is not nesseccary... just use aluminum tape.. that is ice and reflective and easy to adhere to surface... I used the foam board but there is a fiberglass board with more reflective properties.. but I have not used it and not sure if it is as bendable... total cost for this project including the box knife is about 25 bucks... amazing! Music is piano music style from Jim Brickman...

  • Good video. Does the insulation come with the reflective coating or do you have to add that yourself? All I've ever seen is the white, pink or blue foam, but not reflective.

BTW: What is the background music? It's very pleasant background for a slide show.

    Thanks

  • a study in solar collecting... I built it from reflective insulation board .. in bright sunlight it can focus light to about 400˚F and cook food easily... about anything you would want to cook... check out some other of my videos... Ill be running a steam engine or Stirling soon off of this or similar design

  • what was this built for? What was it's use?
