The first negative comment is destructive criticism. First, who cares what you think? Secondly, what does "not much balance" mean? Of what exactly did you want to hear more or less? Balance changes throughout and a well performed piece should have a constantly changing balance, emphasizing the significant lines at each moment. Your comment is destructive without offering any information. And the comment about memorization is just an expression of your own OCD. The best choirs use music.
This is an absolutely divine example of how this song should be sung. Wonderful job! There are only three things I would change. (Not enough Alto II's- I love Alto II's :))
I sang this song with my high school choir and every time I hear it I just want to go back and sing it for days with them. It is by far my favorite song to sing in choir and incredibly moving.
Good diction and amazing accoustics, but there's not much balance between the alto and soprano parts. It would also look better if the music was completely memorized.
Thanks for your comments. I agree on the memorization. However, the three singers with music are last year's graduates that came back to rejoin the choir for this Australia tour. They had only a few weeks to learn 15-20 new pieces for the tour and were not off book . In some cases they were singing familiar music but in a different section (was soprano, now singing alto).
