E.g. my CPU load on OS X with normal office work (10 virtual desktops with 2 mails + 2 browsers with 50 tabs containing HD video and pix + 4-6 400-page Word dox compared, 2 ppts and xls, 2 movies and 3 downloaded videos, RSS and several auxiliary apps) has NEVER exceeded 0.2%. So couldn't care less the cost of hardware under Windows

Your argument is VERY flawed. Macs are not over priced, you get exactly what you pay for. I too have a Dell and love it. I bought it for $500 last week and it has similar specs to that of the Mac Pro. Dell has an XPS 14 Z for $1100, it also has THE SAME SPECS AS MY DELL and yet it is $600 more expensive. let me remind you that the comprable MacBook Pro (same specs as the XPS 14 Z) is also $1100, and has better battery life. You are buying for quality, It really depends on your preference

I just switched from Win 7 to Lion.. Why? Because I got bored of windows, sure i could use linux and I did, but that wasn't for me. I bought my Mac also because I'm doing a uni course next year which will be using OSX only programs. And since I don't have a problem with pirating... I just downloaded and cracked version of window ultimate. And if you ask me I think that every cent I spent on this laptop was totally worth it. But I still prefer windows of Mac anyday.

I just built a PC that has parts which a mac computer literally cannot have because other than redundant processor cores, Macs really don't have anything special. I love listening to apple fanboys going on about how Macs are superior haha.. My desktop costed $1990 to build. If I somehow customized a mac with these specs, it would be well over $5,000. In addition to this, you are only able to play this game at 1280 x 704 @ 30fps on both ps3 and xbox 360 while people who own windows based pcs that are in a similar price range to your OS X are playing at much higher settings (I played beta at 1600 x 1200 @ 120fps on high settings).
One of the reasons why they cost so much is that they are manufactured here in the United States and not in BFE or China. I just bought the 2011 Thunderbolt iMac and I compared it to the PC I have upstairs and the parts on the mac were extremely well-made. I prefer macs because I write music and lately Windows is not really good with Sebilius or Finale. Time Capsule is almost the icing on the cake because it's compatible with both and does a hell of a job.

Most happens in Foxconn, a massive facility in China that also produces for Sony, HTC and other competitors. Look it up. Apple also uses Samsung parts - they are less "American" in terms of parts and assembly than most of their competitors, Dell for example is American and assembles in Texas.

Ughh no. They are DESIGNED in the U.S. and are made in china. For the most part, the chip sets and other innards are common-place OEM parts, not custom-made components. The parts are the same as any other P.C., the main difference, they are optimized(different drivers) to run with Mac OS. It's like people think mac are powered by unicorns and rainbows...

@rifall Not really, about everything else would be mid-level components. You could get a rig get 2.9Ghz AMD processor which isn't too shabby, with 8gb of ram. You'd get a perfectly reasonably performing computer. I just forgot to mention, that card will be hundreds less in no time... that happens with cards. No matter how you put it, macs are over-priced, considering their specs, respectively.
Finally someone making a video to de-bunk a lot of the myths that mac users drone on about. Macs use the very SAME compnents as many OEM P.C.s, yet apple fanboys claim they're some how diffent and of a higher quality. Macs are just P.C.s with a different OS. THAT'S ALL. I love being able to upgrade graphics, RAM, hardrive, etc, which isn't possible with macs, due to incompatability with the OS. Oh yeah, windows 7 is amazing... super stable and awesome for gaming ;)

I bought my MacBook Pro about a year ago, i love its built quality, the screen, the comfy keyboard, the huge trackpad (you don't ever need a mouse in daily usage).... But your question made me think, is extra $1100 really worth it? I say NO.

No, actually there is truth behind the secure quality of Mac OS X. A hacker can also tap into a computer physically by using some sort of chip and or wire. The fact of the security (I literally wrote sexurity before re-writing it) is that malware, spyware and trojans that could result in hacking or system failure is limited. Yex, you are correct on a degree. Everyone states Mac's are "virus proof" which is undoubtedly 100% false.

Funny video, the guy obviously obviously gets misled by marketing gimmicks. It is absolutely absurd to compare hardware head2head as it works entirely differently. E.g. my CPU load on OS X with normal office work (10 virtual desktops with 2 mails + 2 browsers with 50 tabs containing HD video and pix + 4-6 400-page Word dox compared, 2 ppts and xls, 2 movies and 3 downloaded videos, RSS and several auxiliary apps) has NEVER exceeded 0.2%. So couldn't care less the cost of hardware under Windows

Your argument is VERY flawed. Macs are not over priced, you get exactly what you pay for. I too have a Dell and love it. I bought it for $500 last week and it has similar specs to that of the Mac Pro. Dell has an XPS 14 Z for $1100, it also has THE SAME SPECS AS MY DELL and yet it is $600 more expensive. let me remind you that the comprable MacBook Pro (same specs as the XPS 14 Z) is also $1100, and has better battery life. You are buying for quality, It really depends on your preference

I just switched from Win 7 to Lion.. Why? Because I got bored of windows, sure i could use linux and I did, but that wasn't for me. I bought my Mac also because I'm doing a uni course next year which will be using OSX only programs. And since I don't have a problem with pirating... I just downloaded and cracked version of window ultimate. And if you ask me I think that every cent I spent on this laptop was totally worth it. But I still prefer windows of Mac anyday.

In addition to this, you are only able to play this game at 1280 x 704 @ 30fps on both ps3 and xbox 360 while people who own windows based pcs that are in a similar price range to your OS X are playing at much higher settings (I played beta at 1600 x 1200 @ 120fps on high settings).

One of the reasons why they cost so much is that they are manufactured here in the United States and not in BFE or China. I just bought the 2011 Thunderbolt iMac and I compared it to the PC I have upstairs and the parts on the mac were extremely well-made. I prefer macs because I write music and lately Windows is not really good with Sebilius or Finale. Time Capsule is almost the icing on the cake because it's compatible with both and does a hell of a job.

Most happens in Foxconn, a massive facility in China that also produces for Sony, HTC and other competitors. Look it up. Apple also uses Samsung parts - they are less "American" in terms of parts and assembly than most of their competitors, Dell for example is American and assembles in Texas.

Better security. better support. Better OS. 15 inch comes with i7 now, with Radeon HD. So this is outdated.

It is out-dated, and so is the mac you're talking about.
And the ATI Radeon HD 6970 in the top of the line mac, will be out of date in no time. And you can buy a windows machine with the same or greater graphics for around $800.
It's not hard unistalling unwanted programs... it doesn't even take 5 minutes.
Window has been pretty good to me. I just install updates and service packs and my machine runs great.

@rifall Not really, about everything else would be mid-level components. You could get a rig get 2.9Ghz AMD processor which isn't too shabby, with 8gb of ram. You'd get a perfectly reasonably performing computer. I just forgot to mention, that card will be hundreds less in no time... that happens with cards. No matter how you put it, macs are over-priced, considering their specs, respectively.

Finally someone making a video to de-bunk a lot of the myths that mac users drone on about. Macs use the very SAME compnents as many OEM P.C.s, yet apple fanboys claim they're some how diffent and of a higher quality. Macs are just P.C.s with a different OS. THAT'S ALL. I love being able to upgrade graphics, RAM, hardrive, etc, which isn't possible with macs, due to incompatability with the OS. Oh yeah, windows 7 is amazing... super stable and awesome for gaming ;)

Macs are very insecure. I can easily write a script that disguises itself as an installer. It then pompts you for your password then runs sudo rm -rf / and all your data goes to hell.

I bought my MacBook Pro about a year ago, i love its built quality, the screen, the comfy keyboard, the huge trackpad (you don't ever need a mouse in daily usage).... But your question made me think, is extra $1100 really worth it? I say NO.
Maybe because I'm running in an Exchange 2003 environment, and I'm a software developer and I need to use windows. BUT Windows 7 x64 with BootCamp running on a Mac makes a very happy PC.
My next laptop will probably be a PC tho.

Like when u use a normal pc or laptop u dont know how to install drivers ,use copy and paste and other main functions - yes why bother to think when u can use mac that only scrathes the surface of possibilites and hardware that a pc has to offer. No, actually there is truth behind the secure quality of Mac OS X. A hacker can also tap into a computer physically by using some sort of chip and or wire. The fact of the security (I literally wrote sexurity before re-writing it) is that malware, spyware and trojans that could result in hacking or system failure is limited. Yex, you are correct on a degree. Everyone states Mac's are "virus proof" which is undoubtedly 100% false.

I hate how much macs are. OVerprices when you can build your own PC. I love android. Droid FTW. iPhones, they are OK. I am NOT a fanboy, but iPhone OS is very easy to use, but not customizable.
Apple OSX=if you know how computers work, its a dream. YES, it can run windows apps for FREE, GAMES ARE AVAILBLE FOR IT. STEAM FTW. Mac OS is very easy to use, and so much more fun to work on. YES, MACS CAN GET VIRUSES. But i'm not a dumbass and download random things.
Just my opinion. :)

i'm an Apple and Microsoft fanboy. i have 2 Pc's (1 running Vista, 1 running 7), and Xbox 360 with loads of games and Xbox LIVE Gold and lots of little things, like Office and Messenger. but then i have an iPad, an iPhone 3G , an iPhone 3GS, an Apple TV, an iPod Nano 2, an iPod shuffle 4 and an iBook G4 running OS X 10.5 Leopard. i am proud to say i'm a fanboy of both companies.
