@susukekiba Ahh maybe I should not point out the noises then! Usually people remark about the birds all the time, but they are such a constant presence outside in my tree that I never "hear" them much anymore :)
this looks so nice! normally i just do set cheesecakes, not baked... might have to give this one a go though. unless the red food colouring works for a set cheesecake o.o
I love the finger wiggle you did when you said four inches open :) still havn't got myself together to join you and Tammy in the foody video making i will soon i get a five month break after september so i'll try this and let you know how it goes
HAHAHA I thought that the devils food cake at the start was brown sugar (hence A LOT of it XD) Looked amazingly red & vibrant on the inside...so dreamy looking :) good job!
@CookingAndCrafting yea some guy was telling us that they have killer cheesecake because we were going to grab some from cheesekae factory before headin back hme. the owner is an ex chef whos specialty was deserts soo he opend up his own little bakery in chinatown. wich is great because its right around the corner were my mom and i buy bulks of da best manapua(char hung sut) to bring kauai.
@jaeOneS2 I grew up having manapua from Char Hung Sut! Now if I am in town, I will make it a special occasion to stop and get some (parking SUCKSSSS!) because no one can get anywhere close to their manapua.
Oh, okay and I looked in my book and they had a furikake salmon where you soak the salmon in teriyaki sauce for no longer than 8 hours, drain, sprinkle each cut w/ 1/2 tsp of furikake. Preheat oven to 450, spray aluminum foil lined pan and cook for 5 minutes until almost cooked. (more)
@jaeOneS2 Yeah, now that they opened up that lot across the street, get choke parking and you don't have to circle the block 45x. Chun Wah Kam's is okay barely okay and SO EXPENSIVE. sheesh
I am NOT a fan of things you have to prepare, cook, look at, and smell, for hours, and then put away and not eat until the next day. However... This looks like it might almost be worth the agony.
I never knew I was suppose to 'leave a little giggle' in the center! I knew about opening the door but I thought that was only to let it cool down slowly..and I always (used to!) just shut the oven off...smh! No wonder my cheese cake always stuck to the roof of my mouth like peanut butter!
Hey Beth do you use american cups or UK one's i didn't think there was a difference but there is the UK one cup measurement is 250ml its very confusing and may explain why many recipes i tried have failed :/ may just move to the US in future heheh :P
Wow that is a beautiful cheesecake!!!! If it tastes half as good as it looks then its definitely a winner. What a great mother's day treat. Scott looked pretty happy too!!
Oh that looks SOOO good! I love cheesecake! To keep the cheesecake from cracking...use a small oven safe dish with water placed on the rack below the cake. That will create steam and prevent it from drying and cracking! :) I remember hearing that on Martha Stewart and of course...if Martha says so, it must be true. ;) LOL
@BigGirlSmallTown That is used when baking. It split after it was out of the oven and cooling onthe table. Googled it and it said it cooled down too fast. Don't know how. It was cooler than average (73) but not THAT flipping cold
@soonfully No I didn't use a water bath. The recipe didn't call for one. It did fine until after it was out on the table after it was cooling down. Then it split. I know a water bath helps that while cooking but it came out perfectly
That's my problem baking cheesecake, I just can't believe that the center is going to firm up when it looks so wobbly in the center and I end up baking it too long.
I've never been able to get a non-cracked cheesecake
"died and gone to heaven" Can't ask for a better review.
(I really think they do eat a lot of cheesecake in heaven)
@yoyomax12 Yeah, I almost put it in for longer but decided to follow the recipe to the tee. Now, the very very center of the cake (about 1/4 inch) does feel a little softer than the rest of the cake but it doesn't look like it is uncooked. I have only made 2 cheese cakes before this and neither of them split!!
It's such a beautiful, brilliant red. Oh how fabulous this would be as a Christmas dessert. It looks so creamy and light. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
thank u i just ate and my tummy is now grumpyling :(

@jaeOneS2 It will continue to cook when removed from the oven. Drizzle with some teriyaki sauce, about 1 tsp per piece.
