  • They perform the same... in Windows. In Linux (and perhaps also on OSX), you REALLY want to go for HTML5.

  • this is really good to watch when I cant sleep again

  • @jajaklar82 lol glad to help out when you are having trouble sleeping

  • wow Wake up were you doing this in your sleep or were you super high ?

  • Flash is NOT just a video play ... Flash CS5 is a program, and HTML5 has NO UI it just code... and games made in HTML5 lag like crap... The new web standard was suppose to be XHTML not HTML5 ... so because Flash has a UI it's not even in the same category as HTML5... so a the debate should be about XHTML vs HTML5 NOT Flash.

  • @maw88ify The new web standard WAS supposed to be XHTML, years ago. Then they found some inherent problems with it. Now a new standard is rising that's addressing all of these problems, and enhancing the browser's possibilities with a bunch of new features. It's all done by the same people, the W3 Consortium.

There is no debate as HTML5 pretty much replaces XHTML. Heck, there is even a variant known as XHTML5, which uses HTML5 features in an XHTML style.

  • nice vid... but... you recorded this at 4:20 am???

  • @happo555 yeah I'm a night owl. I've stopped the video recording at 4am as of now. I realize I'm not at my best during that time, almost asleep.

  • HTML 5 WOOP

  • nice start music.! even though I find em unnecessary.

  • wallpaper???

  • @S00rabh I believe it's called horse head nebula, can't remember exactly where I got it, but try interfacelift

  • @blacksteel25 Thx mate...

  • @alacevic Are you talking to me or someone else? If you are talking to me I don't even think I even said anything about Ads. I'm actually totally against Apple limiting the use of Flash on iPhone/Ipod touch. It should be up to the user to use flash or not.

  • @blacksteel25 sorry, yeah it was about another video, i am deleting my comment. sorry again about that.

  • @alacevic Well said alacevic.

You hate Flash or web pages with to much Ads? Do you think HTML 5 web pages will change that, here is a hint, NO.

Once HTML 5 become standard Add's will just be built on that, check out Apple iAd.

So yes "alacevic" is correct, no matter what platform add will be there. Or how do you think they pay for all the cost associated with running a web page. Do people think this crap is free, haha.

  • I love your desktop background, where did you get it from?

    Cheers

  • Me: man, what are you smoking?....actually, who are you buying your stuff from?

    You: from you.

Me: oh yeah, no wonder you are so messed up

    You: huh? yeah......huh?........what?

    Me:man, you are baked

You: yeah...hey, can I get some more stuff from you?

Me: sure man, that will be....Fifteen bux, little man, put that shit in my hand

    You: Huh?

  • Is this guy stoned? Not a bit of useful information I could gather from this video screen. WTF is he smoking?

  • Thanks for the heads up on the song. Been a fan of that since I played the game. You still sound baked in this video man. wild.

  • horribly boring video. unprepared, i fell asleep during it. please don t make any other vidz. or sober up first.

  • @berrylict Hey thanks for the response, perhaps you can make a video of you talking about HTML5 I'll accept a video response. As far as putting you asleep, I hope you slept well...

  • @blacksteel25 hey, i never said i d do better. i think akon s music is horrible but i can t sing better. i find bill oreily unbearable but i couldn t attract as many people on tv. simply, i just don t do the things i suck at :))) that s why i code instead :) i was so nice to suggest something similar to you.

but really, i appreciate the effort to help others. thank you. and the sleep was wonderful, so thanks for that as well. peace.

  • both are good

    but html5 has less quality

    and flash takes more memory

  • K.. this guy is baked. Playing the Bad Company menu music in the intro. hahahahaa!

  • @YourMomsMilk I don't even know that the 80's band "Bad Company" ever did a song like this for the intro. lol I'm kidding, but I sincerely didn't know the Bad Company game used this song. Anyway the song is called "The Beast" by Milt Buckner.

  • you are misinformed. HTML5 is at least 3 yrs behind. YOu made a video about what you think with no real information. Here is 3 minutes I won't get back

  • @uaboob What exactly is 3 years behind? Is it the browser implementations or power of the java script bindings or the video plugins on your browser?

  • @anotherelvis Lets see 1. html5 is not even a complete standard so I am being modest about 3 yrs as I doubt it will become a standard even within three years. Flash 10.1 is coming out soon and has instance management and hardware acceleration..... something that is not going to happen with html5. Browsers like IE still require a plugin so defeats the purpose of using html5 at present. Firefox supports it but not the h.264 video which is vying for the standard. gonna run out of space..

  • dude you dont have a friggin clue what you're talking about

this video was a complete waste of time

why don't you research your topic so you can talk about it intelligently?

  • which part of the clue? I compared performance between each one and at least on my system it performed the same viewing 720p. As far as a waste of time, make a video correcting my mistakes. I'm not always accurate at all times and really I do these video's for fun.

  • lol sorry I can be mean sometimes

  • I'm not sweating it tuleo554, doing these video's I'm bound to get a negative response, It's the joy of Youtube. Apology accepted.

  • HTML5 will reduce pollution by around 5 % world wide.

as on most systems it uses less power than flash to play a video .

HTML is the stard of code used to create webpages , but it lacks real support for playing audio and video .

Thant is why HTML5 is being dev . its tek baby . its the future .

  • @kenspocket oh lala, 5 % off my cpu usage with HTML5, BUT, the quality is really reduced, and i can't watch any videos in fullscreen.

  • its still in beta on youtube , just have to wait . quality is better here . try different videos .

  • I think the biggest barrier to adopting video in HTML5 instead of flash is DRM. HTML5 is open standard and doesn't allow for DRM, which means that anyone can easily save a video from webpage to hard disk, whereas Flash allows video to be DRMed. Thus, large movie studios will try to oppose migration to HTML5.

  • now ima let you finish, but i paused the video to tell you html5 is kickass

  • why not just use vlc's codecs and video support and integrate it into a browser eliminating flash and html5? that would kick ass if the vlc team came out with a browser

  • hmm... considoring that i loaded it in 12 secs on a 126kbps streaming bandwith i say it works! but still needs improvment!

  • Yes it works, but the quality of the video's for it are not there yet, although I have seen one HTML5 video that had great quality in HD, but majority are not that great unless your talking about HTML5 video encoded in Ogg Theora.

  • i load, 1080p videos in less than 2seconds with html. tons better than flash, but not all videos support it yet

  • how did you get your video to be in html5?

  • ok first you will need a compatible browser which is Chrome 4.0 and Safari 4. On the Youtube Home page under "What's New" bottom right. It will have a hyperlink to "HTML5 Video". You just click on that and opt into it for the HTML5 beta test.

  • I've read some comments about Flash that it's Apple fault and they should fix it. Does it sound familar? Mac users put the blame also on MS if something as simple as Drivers messes up Windows. OK now onto this Flash thing on who to blame.

IT IS ADOBE'S Fault and Responsibility for Flash problems on OSX. That's it, End of Story.

  • Safari actually runs quite well on Windows 7, start up time from a fresh start isn't awesome, but after that it's less than 2 seconds. iTunes was terrible at load times, but ever since iTunes 9.0 boot up time has improved greatly, it can load up in under 5 seconds, of course more if it's a cold start. I will point out that the iTunes Store part doesn't Scroll Smoothly as it should and just lags at scrolling. I thought maybe an updated iTunes might help, but it doesn't.

  • I'd honestly rather wait for iTunes and then some to get moving then use WMP... that thing blows.

  • U got my 5 stars for the safari joke lol

  • Well done and thank you for your information. Helps loads!!!!!!!!

  • I was reading more about HTML5 and Firefox does support it from FF version 3.5 and up, however it's only for Ogg Theora based HTML5. Youtube is currently using the H.264 version of HTML5. I'm with Firefox on this one, they should use Ogg Theora based HTML5 since it is an open source standard. I know H.264 isn't a proprietary standard like Flash, but it is still tied to royalties who developed it.

  • Mainly what I want for Flash is it to be Sandboxed. It would solve a lot of security problems. I can deal with the performance. I don't know about security of HTML5 yet, but who knows it might suffer the same fate. I'm glad though that HTML5 is out there, might light a fire under Adobe to fix Flash. I think even if HTML5 becomes the standard, Flash isn't going to just die, browsers are going to still support it for legacy and compatibility purposes.

  • HTML5 isnt going to take off. There is no problem with Flash, some security reasons would be taken care by adobe. Its just the Mac users that want it to take off cuz it crashes every time they open their browser. Thank you Adobe! lol But PC users wont upgrade to HTML 5 cuz why would we upgrade it it doesn't give us more. And dont forget silverlight, Its a good contender to flash.

  • Safari is great. It's just that the PC version sucks.

  • I don't really see the difference... the menu bars up top are slightly different, the PC version has all the same features.

  • The PC version is slower, less stable and more bloated. Just like iTunes. or Quicktime.

  • The PC version of Safari is not slow, that is not the reason it sucks. It sucks because you can't do add-ons, change themes, or even change default search easily. Perhaps there are third party programs that do it, but it's not default install of Safari. Chrome is beating Safari in amount of people using browsers, even amoung Mac users, more people are using alternative browsers rather than safari. People want more out of their browser than internet surfing.

  • @emperordarius What? Safari 4 on Windows is very quick. I don't like the grey look, and lack of customization . It's quicker than every browser, except for Chrome, but very close 2nd.

Stop using key marketing phrases like "bloated" cause you are dealing with MvP youtubers, we can see through shit like that. Leave that for Apple to trick the public, that doesn't work here.

  • I think u dont use PC and u use mac. I m preety sure.

  • @ThingsontheWeb It's dead slow compared to the Mac version. And it IS bloated and unstable. I've had more crashes with Safari for Windows than with any other web browser.

The Mac version is the complete opposite.

  • @emperordarius Please get it through your head, you obviously have never used it on Windows, and you are clearly brain washed by Apple marketing, What does "bloated" mean then? You are a walking billboard.

  • @ThingsontheWeb From Wikipedia:

"Software bloat is a term used to describe the tendency of newer computer programs to have a larger installation footprint, or have many unnecessary features that are not used by end users, or just generally use more system resources than necessary, while offering little or no benefit to its users."

It does not NECESSARILY IMPLY it's got TOO many features. It's just a POSSIBILITY.

So get your facts straight before saying BS please.

  • @ThingsontheWeb And why do you suppose I have never used Windows? Do you even think that's possible?

  • @emperordarius Have you used Safari 4 on Windows? And if yes, name a browser that is quicker, besides chrome.

  • @ThingsontheWeb Yes I have used Safari 4 on Windows. And you, have you used safari 4 on Mac OS X?

On Windows, it's this way: Chrome > Safari > Firefox > Internet Explorer > Opera.

I am not even considering K-Meleon or Flock or the other minor browsers, since they aren't worth using to me.

  • @emperordarius Yes I have used it on OS10, and you got it wrong. IE is much faster than FF, even through IE sucks. IE loads twice as fast as FF, and loads pages quicker.

Flock? lol ... it's just FF with social networking

  • @ThingsontheWeb IE faster than Firefox? Oh wait, you mean untweaked FF, then yeah. I always tweak the crap out of Firefox before using it, otherwise it's too slow lol.

Besides, the latest beta versions are faster than IE.

And Safari for Mac >>>>> Safari for Windows, pretty much everyone who's tried both knows it.

I have no reason to lie, why would I say Apple's software sucks if it didn't?

  • @emperordarius I see what you are saying, but I still disagree with Safari 4. Quicktime and iTunes, yes, slow as dog shit, but I have to give Safari it's props, it's pretty fast.

  • @ThingsontheWeb It's not slow, it's simply slower than the Mac version. Maybe it's just that I'm used to the Mac version and I tend to make the Windows version appear slower than it is.

  • Its not the looks, And if i wanna run a program in Win7 i want it to have the aero theme, Safari doesnt, I dunno why but Safari takes 15 seconds to load up in my computer, Same as iTunes. I dont like iTunes but have to use to sync my iPhone, Kill me. But Safari sucks And takes up loads of RAM

  • @gangstabib Agree, the Windows version of all the Apple programs are horrible.

  • @emperordarius

I agree that Apple software for Windows can be bloated, and it kills me to have to disable the startup crap every time I upgrade iTunes, but nevertheless I had no problems running Safari 4 on Windows nor Mac. Before I got Chrome I used Safari 4 for things Firefox failed at because it was too slow.

  • @PoliticalHell Well I had, I mean the startup time is quite slower and I've had more crashes with the Windows version. But then again Safari is integrated into Mac OS X so it obviously will load faster and work better.

In any case, it seems to me that Chrome is the only decent web browser for Windows, if you want speed and simplicity.

  • @gangstabib If Safari 4 takes 15 seconds to load, then FF must take you 30. Safari 4 and Chrome is much faster than IE and FF, this is fact, not opinion.

  • No its just safari. When i say 15 second i mean fresh open and after that it takes 5 sec, same with iTunes. IE8 takes 5-6 sec fresh open and chrome takes 3 sec fresh open. My PC just works with Chrome and IE8 not safari. I know Safari is fast in MAC, I have used it, My bro has it. I just hate mac. Thats why i didnt buy it this year, insted i bought a Tosh. Still Apple deliberately make things slower in Windows Platform. I dont use them that often.

  • listen. .LOL...I'm a PC user....the old safari was slow...but trust me safari 4 is fast....I used to say the same thing until I installed 4...and BTW...I still dont like it for other reasons,I'm a FF and chrome user

  • have you ever thought that maybe apple makes their OS to purposely support things like their browser, and when using other OS it runs slower because it doesn't have support for it

  • Take a look at

    chromeexperiments[dot]com

  • I don't like the Flash player settings mgr.

  • Videos take forever to buffer for me in HTML5.

  • this is a great alternative to mac users (because of buggy flash on mac os)

  • i've found html5 to be a bit pixelated have you noticed this as well? Maybe it's just me. I've also noticed the time lag on youtube with it as well, but i know it's not fair to judge it coz it's still in beta.

  • You are correct Code, it's even pixelated in 720p resolution. I feel HTML5 isn't equal to Flash yet or exceeds it, but it's great that it's being used as an alternative.
