Di Stefano é l'unico tenore col quale non é necessario avere il libretto...Ha ragione Rescigno, non mangia, non ellide e non tronca nessuna parola!!! E questo che per lui é naturale, é pressoché impossibile a quasi tutti gli altri cantanti d'opera!

Comunque è una nota un po' stiracchiata. Possiamo anche ammettere che non sempre, lo 0,1% delle note emesse dalla Callas non fosse a fuoco, senza per questo smentire che era una cantante e una musicista assoluta e immensa, sai?

As a relative I think I'm more offended than you about the comments I read about the late Maestro Rescigno, but the fact is he sometimes told the truth that people didn't want to hear and couldn't care less what people made of it. Though he forgets some trivial points in his old age everything he says here is true whether you like it or not.

Interesting assemblage of clips. I also would like to know where the footage in its entirety is available. The Corelli clip comes from the old American culture series the Firestone Hour, out in full paired with a spot done on Renata Tebaldi. but this Voci del Passato would be interesting to have as well.

It's a DVD called "The Art of Singing - Golden Voices of the Century" of NVC Arts.

Great DVD, starts with Caruso and ends with Callas. Biörling, Chaliapin, Flagstad, Ponselle, Price, Sutherland, Tibbet, Wunderlich........

There we saw the great Magda Olivero with compliments to Corelli and her other colleques. The great living legend herself, always with a warm heart to her collegues. I learned from the famous dutch soprano Christina Deutekom that Corelli was so nervous that she got always that problem too. But Corelli was fantastic. So was Deutekom. Forget Callas: she was fantastic, but she never did something new. Always the old repertoire. And this Nicola Rescigno did not help her in her last days.

Di Stefano e Maria Callas...i più grandi di sempre.

Che voci meravigliose. Di Stefano, nella pienezza dei suoi eccezionali mezzi vocali, canta e fraseggia divinamente. Cosa dire di Corelli..è stato il più grande Calaf del dopoguerra.Temo che voci così non ne ascolteremo più in futuro.
