@PandaJungle No, of course they don't matter. Clive just varied the amount he gave and didn't point out at the beginning of every show that the point, in effect, do not matter.
Look at Colin representin' North America. And with hair, my God, what happened to his hair growth. Poor guy got picked on it the U.S. version lol Colin is awesome!
I just want to run in there with a hair clippers and buzz Colin's hair off. Then I shall yell: "CAPTAIN HAIR!!!" and push Ryan into the scene then teleport back to the future. :D
Favorites (in order, US and UK versions): Colin, Ryan, Tony, Greg, Josie, John Sessions, and everyone else is pretty much tied. They're all good though.
Except Kathy Greenwood, she's entertaining, but not intentionally. She does have her moments though.
Colin actually has hair! He looks better without it. It's weird seeing Colin but not Ryan, they're always together. Oh, and Helping Hands is much better with Ryan.
Well, this was the only episode of either series in which Colin ever appeared without Ryan... so it's kind of hard to judge how good he would've been if Ryan hadn't been there. And of course, this was Colin's first Whose Line show ever, so he was probably nervous, not used to everything yet, etc.
But of course I agree, Colin and Ryan have great improv chemistry :-)
@Minator93 I disagree. Colin is a good performer, but Paul Merton, Josie Lawrence, Tony Slattery, John Sessions, Griff Rhys-Jones Sandy Toksvig and Michael McShane were all good, too.
Kitchen sink drama is a punword for the utterly realistic genre, featuring ordinary people in ordinary situations with ordinary conflicts. Often set in a kitchen as a result. I think the idea was to tell stories that the audience could identify with. I believe that many of Ken Loach's pictures would be classified as kitchen sink drama.
Yes :) He always looks great in the early episodes, but there's just something about him in this one. Perhaps it's the colors...they work quite well on him.
I do have to admit, I remember watching this when it first aired and thinking; That Canadian guy isn't very good...Who would have guessed what he would become.
In a recent interview with Mark Leveson & Dan Patterson, they said they kept Colin on because they were waiting for him to blossom, as it were. They wanted to build his confidence in playing Whose Line. Their time and effort paid off as he became as much an integral part of the show as Clive Anderson, Ryan Stiles or even Richard Vranch.
As much as I adore this show no matter what, Sandi always manages to make a hilarious show even funnier than ever for me! Thank you so much for uploading.

I now believe that the reason why Colin is outrageous and cute (but dirty) in the US version is because of Tony, who probably inspired him.

Not near as funny without Ryan. Colin and Ryan are hilarious alone, but put them together and it's insane. They play off each other perfectly.
It's funny that Colin still had the amazing sense of style back then as he had on the later episodes.......

I think Colins debut is quiet a good one ^^
And I can't believe I'm saying this - but maybe it was his luck to lose a lot more of this hair, it looks a little weird (or just unsual ;-) ) here.
I really like Sandi Toksvigs faciat expression at 7:55, when Clive mentions to make it easier for Colin, Tony will provide the hands.
It kinda says "Yeah, sure... Easier... Pfff" ^^
