I'm a Chinese American, and having seen this guy speak publicly and in interviews, I'll simply say that Wen Jiabao is a POLITICIAN. He panders, talks in circles, and makes overgeneralized statements and ludicrous assertions, often when asked something unrelated. No social change in China will come from this guy, and despite what you think that means, its bad for the U.S. and the world at large.

My advice to China: In order to protect China's economic and national security interests, China MUST develop stronger MILITARY forces NOW. China's navy is relatively still very weak, more resource and effort should be focused on building a more powerful navy force. Building air carriers is an excellent starting point, it make Chinas military stronger at the same time provides thousands of jobs for its people. Stop using Chinas foreign reserve money to buy junk sinking U.S dollar/treasury.

Chinese gov't purchase of US treasury and other bonds are locked, as soon as they began to stop buying the dollar will crash, US interest rate will skyrocket it will be worse than the 80s or 30s. China will also loss all their investments if dollar becom worthless, -> no more demand, savings are worthless, rise unemployment... China today's industry is over developed, they need a recession to get ride of their burdens. Military developments arn't profitable, and unsustainable-> Rus, NK.

The CORRUPT america will not give up the dollar reserve status VOLUNTARILY.  China have to wake up and stop being so NAIVE. China and other major countries MUST unite together and ACTIVELY develop a new world reserve currency (with or WITHOUT the U.S). The first step is for China and other ally countries to start trading with each other using their own currencies or the newly create international "super currency" as proposed by China recently....STOP USING THE U.S DOLLAR WHEN EVER POSSIBLE.

My advice to China: Stop buying U.S dollar/bond. Start to gradually selling the U.S dollar which China currently holding in its foreign currency reserve.

With the CORRUPT, reckless, irresponsible economic/financial practices of the U.S, the U.S dollar WILL inevitably loose its value within the next 5 to 10 years. The U.S dollar should make up NO more than 15% of China's total reserve.

in such a formal global meeting, interpreter usually has the transcript of the spokesman beforehand, so tht he/she gets prepared for the translation. but i guess tht the first few sentences on Ox Year wish by Wen Jiabao is not in the transcript, tht's why her translation is imappropriate.

Jiabao is a very diplomatic speaker. But I find it kind of ironic and humourous that Russia and especially China blames the U.S. for the global recession. They're right on behalf of the derivatives market. But Americans don't have any real money left after that trade deficit to China.

China will be fine, they're just not going to grow as fast as they used to.

Hu is not the boss. China was an central committee, which has 9 members. both Hu and Wen r members of that committee, but there r also Deng's fellows and Jiang(ex-president's fellows) . they r not very united. that is why one of Jiang's fellow died and another was put into prison for corruption.

To comment on the 1st 10 minutes, Premier Wen Jiabao is right in his statement about the irresponsibility that led to this current economic problem. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that. The fact is that their is a heart problem with all mankind. And just plain discipline doesn't fix the situation when people "feel" like their at a dead end when they've reached the top of their game. Man needs the Lord. Money won't fix it. Religion won't fix it. Laws won't fix it. Jesus is the answer.

China is the 3rd largest economy right now. Their biggest challenge is the rather large population. Americans are too broke from the trade deficit. China is very smart to work on their infrastructure and are more realistic than our Congress on what to expect from the U.S.. China's economy will not grow as fast, but during the long haul they can do well for themselves. Now their protectionist policies against the U.S. is disturbing.
