This is MY point of view : I think Mariah is the Best selling female singer of all time : She Started singing in "the 90's" compared with Madonna (She started in "the 80's") Mariah has singing 1990-2012=22 years selling, & Madonna has singing 1982-2012=30 years selling, 8 years of difference, Madonna didn't have the oportunity to "fight" selling in her time with one "Mariah Carey of the 80's"

IFPI listed back in 2006 Madonna as The Top Selling Female Singer Ever, with 250 million records sold (albums and singles). that was without counting the 40 million she has sold since then (albums, singles. According to Guinness she has sold 300 million records. Sorry man, check it out. it is an OFFICIAL fact. and there is no "trinity" here. Where do you get that info?

Even IF madonna sold more...by 100 million?? Be sensible. @oldd13 Nope. Mariah's bulk of sales was between 1990-1998. Madonna had already been listed in Guiness book Of Records in 1999 with 130 million albums sold, that was before the album Ray of Light era and without counting singles.
Ray of Light= 20 million
Music = 15 million, GHV2= 7 milllion, ALife= 5 million, COADF = 12 million, HCandy= 4 million Confessions Tour= 2 million Remixed and Revisited = 1 mill, IGTTAS= 1.5 million, Celebration= 3 million. Sticky Tour= 1 million

Plus, ppl submit stuff to Guiness & i think u even have to pay whoever is over that crap. Sort of the same as to get a star on the hollywood walk of fame. To be honest I have listened to all of them and I have enjoyed their music, bought their albums, etc. I just wish Mariah releases another album like the 1990 debut, or Music box, Daydream, Emancipation, but I am sure she will!

@oldd13 So I guess Madonna is the only one who has sold 200 million albums (female) both Mariah & Celine record companies claim 200 million RECORDS sold (albums plus singles), so they must be around 150-160 million albums sold plus 50-40 million singles. Warned Bros reported by 2005 that Madonna had sold in excess 80 million singles. Hung up & 4 Minutes have sold a combined 14 million.-.... so there is enough proof everywhere for the 100 million singles sold.
