Duel core these days are good for everyday use i say. For gaming I say at least get a Triple core or better with 1 gb video card. You can get decent vidoe card for 99.99-189.99.4 gb ram will do I do say more is better but i personally use only 3 gb ram when gaming. I do have 8 gb ram for future gaming. People that have 24 gb ram you will not even use the full power due to no game need 24 gb ram . Most game only need about 2 gb to 4 gb ram at most. 24 gb ram is just to show off i guess.

Dual core means 2 cores so 2 programs can run without slowdown. Yes, it's three years old. But at least I know what it is. Thing is, if the programs you're running require more combined RAM than you have, don't expect it to run well. Just like, if you have infinite ram, but a suckish, slow, single core processor, don't expect 2 or more programs to run well. They need each other, but I constantly see idiots only upgrade one to run their high powered programs.

@fresca9990211 Thats probably because your graphics card isn't up to spec with the requirements for TF2. PC Games are more reliant on the graphics card than processor nowadays since they are incredibly shader intensive so you need to have a decent graphics card to play them. What kind of GPU do you have? You can tell by right clicking on your desktop and going to display tab in XP and Vista or if you have Nvidia just go to the Nvidia control panel when you right click on the desktop.

@rahnyc4 the i3s and some i5s and some i7s are dual cores. i'm have a pentium d 945 and that is outdated for gaming but for web surfing, media and misc use, it does fine. i have to disagree. in truth i play games on an athlon II 450 (x3, 3.2ghz) and i've seen it peak a couple times while recoding video. when you generalize, you fail to keep in mind the most important thing about a cpu.... the architexture. that's what makes cpus now, not just the clock and cores. why do people thumb up this crap

This dude couldn't be more wrong. Once you use a multi-core computer, you'll never go back. I'm not saying that a quad-core PC, like mine, is always faster on a single program, especially if it wasn't written to take advantage of it. However, with a quadcore PC you can watch video while rendering video while running a virus check and never notice any slow down.
