I know the local police and their cronies have been in my house because of what I know about their connection to drug dealers. They "Bumped" my door lock so there was no sign of tampering. I remember when they snuck the Patriot Act through. There were armed soldiers stalking the halls of Congress, intimidating government officials into voting "yes" lest they appear unpatriotic, or get shot. Naturally, any votes made under threat of harm or any form of intimidation are automatically nullified. Therefore, technically, the Patriot Act was never voted in. Any authorities who act on it are acting illegally. Period.
