Mmmm if I am not mistaken it was Gerd von runstedt ( A ) that commanded the halt, but since hitler agreed that it was important to preserve the armored units strength for the second part of the invasion of france ( fall rot ), people later thought it was hitler that gave the command.

@ 0:40 what Friedel is talking about is one of the aspects of Wehrmacht culture that has been simply ignored by popular media portrayal. Contrary to commonly held belief the Germans were not unthinking dummies. They had developed the idea of Auftragstaktik or Mission Tactics where junior officers and NCOs were given a lot of leeway to exploit their individual potential and this is something their opponents were very aware of.

if german generals had followed hitlers plan to take the oil fields first not moscow (when hitler fell ill they put more emphasis on moscow while hitler was unaware) then the outcomeis different
