Definitely a young bull, maybe no more than fifteen years old.
He will get quite a bit larger and more confident by the time he reaches thirty.
It's a good thing they didn't get too close to a cow with a calf, though.
If that happened, folks, you are in for some MAJOR trouble.

A young immature bull, unsure of himself and lacking in confidence. Such half-hearted charges can be stood up to if you know what to look out for in body language [the Ranger here is on top of his game]and I find young bulls useful to impress tourists who are there for a ''show''. A wise, experienced and self-assured bull, wouldn't give you the time of day and might completely ignore you from such a distance but its a completely different ball game with family groups that include infants.

I'm a zoologist, and boy are you all brave. But what I would have done was throw a bucket of rocks at it and then yelled "Eat death, chrome dome!" Then I would have flashed it and done the macarena.
