OperaPup-sorry, I beg to differ. His 1st Cd has several Irish songs sung by him on it, Danny Boy for one. So, not so odd after all. And, I believe it is a strong strenght he has. The man can sing anything-everything he sings touches the very soul of the listener.

Hello again, I hope it's ok to clarify that his first album "Spirit of America" has no "irish" songs.. The Danny Boy is actually not an Irish song.. although many associate it with being of Irish derivation. Just google the title and you can read it's history. I do agree that he can sing anything. Opera is really is forte and his greatest passion. I've heard him sing even country in concert. He has a soft Jazz song "everything must change" on Tom Scott's jazz album, New Found Freedom.

Regarding "Danny Boy".. from a google search - The lyrics were written in 1910 by an English lawyer named Frederick Weatherly. While the song has been recorded hundreds of times, it's been done mostly by non-Irish artists. Irish bands often refuse to play it. An interesting article at JS.online where I found this.

He is the best there is! Period! Not another word needs to be said! He captures Danny Boy and other Irish songs perfect! Class of his own! No one else can come close... Wish he would do more Irish songs, a CD with just them. I am not interested in the least of Christian Music-but it this song sung by him not the best ever done!

To tenzin02. Seems an odd wish, that he would do an Irish CD. Doubt that will happen...He hopes to do a Spanish album soon. Daniel Rodriguez is not even Irish. He's pure Latino. His strength is not in doing Irish songs, but doing many others, and spiritual songs are definately among his best ever.
