Thank you so much for posting! This was the greatest Phish show experience I ever had...as of yet, but most likely it will be the BEST show I ever went to.....and I've been to more than just a few ;-)
AHHH, NEVER FORGET IT! 2nd to last weekend in August in 1996. The weather was awesome, the people were so friendly. About 10 of us drove up from Boston (Long ride to Plattsburgh). The next week I entered my freshman yr in college in Vermont across the Lake. Many friendships began with the phrase "He you were at Phish?!" NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BACK THEN!!!!!!
I was on the Grunt crew , in the yellow t's somewhere in there , we set up the concessions , stayed in the barracks on the 4th floor , and a select few of us started all this by bombing Treys house for flees , ios mom by the way is the nicest woman I think I ever met , super cool .
lol all of yopu who don't know what a nug is, the guy was talking about a nugget or a piece of some ganja. phish concerts are a good place to find nugs
changed mine too. re-DICK-oulously good time. just turned 21 and was the defacto beer buyer for me and my carpool..bought copious amounts of various things in Burlington and then crossed over to Plattsburg and got nuts...wow...can't believe it was 12years ago...
ashj1981... let me guess?? you must be 27 ?? so in 96 you were 13 or 14. if this was your last show it wasnt because it became a clusterfuck its because you have no idea what this shit is really about anyhow... its funny how quick you are to judge those folks... what they said makes perfect sense... i think you were to spun to remember what its all about...
oh and that mayor is funny, i grew up in plattsburgh... this show changed my life forever... thank you...
I was 25 in 96 and had been on Dead tour many times before ever seeing a Phish show. The reason I thought it was a clusterfuck was the fact that all the weird idiots that made Dead tour a drag folded into the Phish scene.
The actual Ball was great, the music & atmosphere inside the concert was fantastic. I guess for me it was the true end of an era. I had too much of these idiots with their hot air talking about time & space & transcending blah blah blah. I get it, you want to fuck that chick.
Yea man...I'm right there w/ you. Toured between 92 and the Ball, 89 shows, and the scene had really changed. When you see these "brothers" taking bottles, smashing them on the ground and going after people, then you know it's the end. And these weren't weekend warriors, these were kids I saw on both summer and fall 95 tour doing this....lame shit....saw a good amount of shows in my area after, but it was never the same...musically too..they'll never recapture fall 95..the playing was perfect!
Oh WOW.. you are SOO cool. Fuck off.. the Ball was only a clusterfuck if you're a jaded lame ass high horse riding dolt. That was an amazing time and you know it. I saw the band for the first time in 91 and the Ball was NOT the end of it all. It's when it all started.
Oh, a word of advice: If you're attending a concert with nearly 100,000 people and plan on ingesting hallucinogens, it's probably a good idea to take note of where you parked. We didn't.
Man! I was there. Some of those scenes bring back some awesome memories. I didnt sleep for about 3 days and it was the best time. Then 2 days later was my first day of college. 1996....great memories. Met some great people.
Clifford Ball represents my first Phish experience , unfortunately on tape, and not live. It's great to hear the little snippets on music that I'm so familiar with after listening to them over and over over the years. The footage of the officer going into the bus and then leaving is classic. Too bad Trey didn't get off so easy.
what song is that at 4:00?

What do you mean by "get?" The entire broadcast is up here in three parts.
kubu420 4 years ago
He means so he can put it on DVD.
lieinghonestly 4 years ago
@webb10588
There is a DVD box set called Clifford Ball, so I assume this is part of that.
yobhsiFehT 1 week ago
they had a way of making all the classics sound so fresh and new. this coincided with the new concept of a concert of these proportions.
