hey mate i just got ratpoison i would like your help i am new to this tilling manager thing i just wanted to know how you got your "desktop" to look that great the theme the wallpaper and stuff like what tools did you use i would really appreciate your help.
Good demonstration of this nice wm. The documentation says you will save time by switching to ratpoison, but I had no idea how much. I don't worry about themes, colors, or dragging windows around anymore
One thing that helped me use ratpoison though was editing the config file to switch keys to a more non-emacs format. Such as using the Meta (windows key) key as the trigger, and using Alt-Tab to switch between windows etc.
You have to split the screen (which starts off as one big "frame") into several "frames" one program can display it's contents at a time in a single frame. You have to manually split the first frame into two frames before you can run more than one program at a time, and then enter the command which you want to run in the shell of any newly created frame.
Great demonstration of ratpoison! I am currently using Arch with Fluxbox but was wanting a tiling wm with manual management. Was debating between ratpoison, Musca, stumpwm and wmii but this video (along with watching comparison videos on the other twms) has convinced me to try ratpoison. :) Thanks for posting

Amazing. I use Arch Linux and my current WM is Open Box, though I have been using and exploring AwesomeWM the last few days.
Will give RatPoison a go now.

I tried ratpoison but I can't seem to be able to resize the windows. When I open an xterm it goes fullscreen..
