@jimgab80 Only morons offend people with different tastes. Disco, electro, synthpop - no matter how you call it, it sucks. And yeah, Metallica recorded at least country song.
This does sound like the techno version of " Fade To Black , and like it a lot . My sister first told me of it and said I would have to listen to the lyrics to know it's a Metallica cover version .
i liked the radical transformatin from hard rock to tekno industrial xD it is good but this version is not for me maybe for a party it could be great xDD
@stilwel It sounds similar to it but it is not the same. New Years Day's melody is longer than that. Besides, why would they intentionally add a melody from a U2 song when this song is a tribute to metallica? That doesn't make sense.
Had Apoptygma just changed the lyrics, I'm sure no one would even guess that this is a cover of Fade to Black. People are actually only listening to the sound and attitude of a song to make up their opinion if they like it or not...
well this is a good version of fade to black in a gay electronic way, but not that bad, the only thing that pissed me off was the almost 2 minutes intro it kinda suck
@Andre0238 you must be mad and/or kidding me. I got respect for other genres and I believe that someone actually like it but it never was and never would be better than the original. period.
I was so turned on to this song did not know it was a Metallica song at first since I hate Metallica and never listen to them as I hated the whole metal movement
Way too happy. This song is supposed to be depressing and suicidal. But listening to this, I can only picture some techno junkie jumping around waving his arms everywhere being all happy. Not a bad song, greatly produced, but seriously guys, this isn't Fade to Black.
@Psycherz By about age 9 most people can decipher the difference between happy and fast. Not sure how a goth/industrial song filled with minor chords qualifies as "happy" but maybe that's just me.
Check out the "nothing else matters" version they made... Its a tribute.... not a copy... each group makes their version of the tune as a tribute... if you want to hear the original... buy a metallica record...
And yes Apop is lightyears bette live.... to bade they changed genre... now plays electropunk or whatever they call it.... but it was fun while they lasted....
It's pretty light, but apoptygma is an EBM band - industrial's closest thing to dance. It's closer to industrial over dance due to being driven by the dirty base line and gritty/static drum sound instead of the more clean sounds of the electronic drums found in dance. There's also a lot of extra 'noise' and 'industrial sounds' played over the track to give it more grit. It's subtle, but it's still EBM.
I love the Blackest Albums if only for all the different takes on Metallica song. I can totally dance to this at a rave. I've been a Metallica fan for over a decade, and this is just so cool.
I never would have conceived on this remix, it's so different!
I'm not sure how people can say this sucks... I don't like it, I'd rather listen to Metallica version, this version isn't for me. Doesn't mean it sucks....

@Bandanko I know I've heard those bells in another Metallica song before. If you notice at the end he sings the melody from The Unforgiven ending.
KUROGUY 11 months ago
@KUROGUY That bell melody is the main guitar from U2's New Year's Day.
