Even counting the massive waste on bureaucracy (which can be controlled simply by eliminating and overseeing it) a single Payer system puts most of its money into actual Health care. Private care takes most of the money away in profit. Universal Health care is supposed to lose money. There is no profit, hence there is more money going into the Doctors, nurses and patients.

@TylerNull not proven to be much better, and money would have been more efficiently spent in other areas to save lives. Personally I would prefer they just raise funding for the NHS instead, but people don't want higher taxes. However, there is always the option to pay for it yourself, which at worst you can say is back to the American system. If the NHS made you pay for all drugs and treatments then you would have the American system, which is the real merciless joke against humanity.

@TylerNull So, to clarify, we have a system that takes care of ALL our sick, and a system where the rich can pay for a system that is SLIGHTLY better - the only difference being you are guaranteed to get a private room (should you want one, a lot of sick people find it helps to socialise especially if they get few visitors), and you are guaranteed to have any surgery performed by the consultant and not his registrar. It is not the difference between life or death.

The only way in which US hospitals are better than UK hospitals are that in the UK you are more likely to pick up a hospital-born infection. I agree this is terrible. However, the irony is that our hospitals used to be very clean, until the cleaning of hospitals was contracted out to private companies, who have done a very poor job. The situation is improving thankfully.

It may inconvenience the super rich to have to wait in line with the plebs, but that is a small cost to pay. This is empathy in action, an emotion you are clearly incapable of feeling. Universal health care can be shitty, or it can be very good, just like Private Health Care. It depends on how much money is spent, and where the money goes. Even counting the massive waste on bureaucracy (which can be controlled simply by eliminating and overseeing it) a single Payer system puts most of its money into actual Health care. Private care takes most of the money away in profit. Universal Health care is supposed to lose money. There is no profit, hence there is more money going into the Doctors, nurses and patients.

You will find how quickly your reserve fund dries up in the face of a rigged 'Free market' medical system. You may be wealthy enough. But very few of the 2/3 of Americans you refer to are not. And what about the other 1/3? You know, the freeloaders and immigrants. Should we form 'Loser Panels' and have them euthanised? They are, after all, a drain on the system for the rest of us.
