Im a doctor, and i have seen people with vitiligo, i mean, is so common to me to see people with this illness that i cant believe the way MJ has been treated by ignorant people that know nothing about the disease.

It didn't help MJ unfortunately that he tried to hide it for so many years. I think it's perfectly understandable why he covered it up, but I think MJ letting the press say whatever they wanted to about him ultimately backfired on his public image when it came to vitiligo. People as prominent as Jay Leno and comedians still often make jokes and push the myth about MJ wanting to become a white woman. It's disgusting.

Lee Thomas was on 20/20 tonight and they also spoke about Michael and even showed pics of him and then Lee said he too eventually will have to go to using white makeup like Michael becuase its getting so extensive on his face.

Interesting that he talked about Michael wearing the mask because I have a picture of Michael walking out of a hotel (without make-up on) and he's wearing the mask and you can see a dark splotch on his jaw line in the pic.

there are treatments but they are expensive and insurance doesn't like to cover them. i tried to get light treatments but they are 70 per treatment. which sucks since i'm broke. so, now all i'm doing are the cream treatments--protopic. it's mainly on my hands, the finger tips really and it's been that way for 2 years...nothing else has spread though and my color came back on one hand.

I agree. Can you believe a lot of people watched this and said Thomas was LYING and that vitiligo doesn't exist, hes just another self-hating black man? I wanted to slap the ish out of them. And when I told them that white people suffer from vitiligo to, they felt stupid as hell. Not only due to MJ's word, there has been publicized medical records proving his suffering from this disorder for years. For some reason many can't seem to stop teasing & treating MJ like a freak. I heard this on a different show.He had more dark skin than white,so he use to cover up the dark.But eventually he'll be more white than dark like MJ so he'll have to cover the dark with white makeup. MJ's make-up artist said the same thing. He became more white than dark.And you are so right he can't win for losing with the haters.He could be invisible with bandages like the invisible man and I would still love him.I love MJ for what he is not what he looks like.
