  • Hi Colette, I think your videos are wonderful, and very informative. I apologize if you have already addressed this issue, I have been unable to find a video that answers this question. I have been trying to master water marbling for a few months now. My main problem has been bubbles on the nail. Do you have any advice on avoiding bubbles, or getting rid of them if you do happen to get them? Thank you so much!

  • @pebbles802 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip or shake off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues Yes it does, thank you so much! :o)

  • Your marbling tutorials are great but the extra how-to's that you have posted make them perfect, it makes me well-equipped and knowledgeable before I get started, and also makes a first time attempt more succesful

  • I have 2 questions=) how do you protect your finger from getting dry and does it matter what kind of nail polish remover you use??

  • @youngmakeuploverali for clean up I use 100% acetone - it can be drying but just moisturize once your manicure is dry =)

  • your very helpful someone finally understands

  • THanks so much this really helps :)

  • So the polish remover won't damage the brush, right?

  • @BongoAndBoingo no - at least, not the one I have =)

  • wow , thnx for sharing , also , can you do 1 for short nails also .

  • @Msmjshawty it works the same on short nails =)

  • how long does the nailpolish stay?

  • @awesomenijntje it wears just like a normal manicure =)

  • I love your tuts - not too long, still you give enough info and tips. Thank you for uploading ^^

  • your vids are so cooooooooool

  • i use a toothpick with a tiny piece of cotton ball on the end to clean

  • ooo thank you so much, you are very helpful

  • OMG! I SO needed a tutorial like this because, whenever i do my nails i always get polish on my fingers :l

Usualy, i'd just wait a while (Like maybe i'd do my nails at night and then i'd go to sleep and wake up the next morning) and then it would come off (Not all but most) but this is a WAY better idea! Thank you so much :DD

  • I like your meathod but for me i just wait till i take a shower the nail polish comes right off my skin ^^)

  • WHEW! I SO GOTTA KNOW THIS! LOL!

  • can you just use a simple tiny paint brush? i have those.

  • @allysax1 I think it would work fine as long as it's a little stiff =)

  • Hi, how do I clean nail art brushes after I have used them to paint my nails? If I use normal nail polish remover, will it affect my nail art when I use the brushes in the future?

  • @qy0711 I just use acetone & haven't had any problems =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues What brand do you recommend? And does it apply to removing nail polishes on dotting tools too? :)

  • @qy0711 I just use the generic brand from Target - for dotting tools also, most are metal so it doesn't affect them at all =)

  • i done my nails the same way and when i used my polish remover it ate a hole in my thumb and it took the skin around the hole!!!!!!

  • @Shea11Shea O.o if you mean your natural nail not acrylics, I can only guess that you must be allergic to acetone

  • Great idea of using a brush to clean up your nails. Q-tips are so hard because they fall apart easily!!

  • hi:) i would like to no if water marbling works on short nails? with every youtube video i've saw, they all have acrilic or long nails:/

    please respond:)

    thanks:)

  • @IgorsCreations I have short nails and it does work. Its a little harder to make it more intricate though. I have just recently started so I've only been doing simple designs.

  • @IgorsCreations yes, if you have short nails you just get less of the design - check out my marble on my mom's short nails =)

  • I've had acrylics since I was in 7th grade or so and haven't had them off longer than a week for the past 6 years and my nails are extremely soft and they are very short but I am going to try out the blue and pink marbling and tell you how it goes so you can share that information with other subscribers(:

  • I have had acrylics on since I was 12, is it ok to marble on acrylic? Or does it need to be your natural nails?

  • @The4waystop I've never tried it myself, but it should be fine - just be sure to use non-acetone remover for any clean up =)

  • do you take the tape off when the polish is completely dry?

  • @waitFORtmrrw yes, although you can do it while wet if you're very careful =)

  • Will the polish come off of the cup (plastic) when you're done?

  • @bootskaboots I use a disposable paper cup so I just toss it when I'm done =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues Oh, thank you!

  • You put in the video that you cut the tape off, can't you just pull it off? Or does that mess up your design?

Also I am wondering how exactly you wrap the tape around your finger/nail, like which parts of skin it is supposed to cover, and also, can you use something other than plastic tape? Like band-aids or something?

  • @lovemoody the way I wrap it, it's easier to make a cut before peeling it off - you can check out the taping tutorial under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see how I apply it, and really any kind of tape or even band airs I suppose would work =)

  • The brush is such a great idea! thanks gonna use that one.

  • Oops I didn't see it! But thank you for replying! ;)

  • Where did you get that brush from?

  • @ChewiiLexii from Michaels - the details are in the information box =)

  • when your nails first come out of the water, how do you dry the excess water droplets off of them? are they dry when they come out of the water?

  • @pointeprincess302 if you pull out slowly there shouldn't be any water left on the nail - It’s mostly dry within a few minutes, then I use a quick-drying top coat =)

  • Is there a special type of polish you use as your base coat, or can I just use any random nail polish color or something?

  • @mizzstar21 I always use a normal base coat & also a base color that's complimentary to the marble colors =)

  • can u do one with purple and teal?????!!!!

  • @tykarate11 I'll add that to my request list =)

  • Ok

  • did u put nail polish on ur skin on purpose for show or was it not on purpose

  • @bernarya it just turned out that way =)

  • Do you need a base/top coat?

  • @hippolover120 yes, I always recommend base & top coats =)

  • Have you ever done a cloud water marble?

  • @mrsengaz do you just mean blue & white or like an actual cloud design?

  • An easier way to clean up excess nail polish on skin is just to wash the part with soap and water. Nail polish isn't really meant for the nails, obviously. So, it's easy taking it off on skin by just washing it. :)

  • @rescissionmybreath you can scrub off some polish, but it's easier to get a clean line especially around the cuticle with the brush =)

  • how do u put the tape on

  • @Schianelle check out the taping tutorial under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see how I apply it =)

  • What nail polish remover do you use :D ?

  • @22sztos22 I use the Studio Tools brand from Target =)

  • @populargurl211 yes - the details are in the information box, I got it at Michaels =)

  • how do you clean inside the nail?

  • @arubiangirl04 you can use the brush for that as well =)

  • how to wash nail brush???

  • @ziepbabe I usually just dip it in polish remover & wipe on a paper towel =)

  • Ohh. The brush sounds like a good idea. I usually use this nail polish remover pen which has a felt tip point that works well too. Have you ever used it? Do you prefer the brush or pen? Sometimes the pen might be more convenient. (:

  • @SurfHcoCali101 I have used them, but they seem to dry out quickly, especially as often as I do my nails =)

  • My mom showed me a real easy way to get the polish off that is really close to your nail. She took a wood skewer stick with a point and wrapped a little bit of cotton around the tip (from a cotton ball). It helps to wet the cotton a little with polish remover to keep it in place. Then you just dip it in polish remove. You have a pin point polish remover..er. Lol. :]

  • will your fingers/cuticles get ruined if you use too much polish remover?

  • @dogzrock142 I don't have a problem, just be sure to moisturize well once your manicure is finished & dry =)

  • Does just using the brush actually get rid of the polish? :O

  • @Xunoflux the brush is dipped in acetone =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues I tried this and it actually worked. :)

  • What polish remover do you use?

  • @GlitterWater13 I use the Studio Tools brand from Target =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues is tht the yellow one with the hand on the front? cause i have tht one!!!

  • @GlitterWater13 no, it's just a plain bottle, it's got a blob I think is supposed to be nail polish & then just has the name on it =)

  • how can i get the bubbles off?

  • @xxxxLara My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • @xxxxLara and i also noticed if you shake you fingers a little the bubbles come off there is another nail person you should look up her name is ilovemylongnails

  • thanks this video was really helpful it worked out great!!!!!

  • i have never seen or heard or water marbling until now..i can across this by accident and its the coolest thing i have ever seen i must try :D

  • where can I get a brush?

  • @TinkRStar05 I got mine at Michael's - the info for this specific brush is in the info box =)

  • I have a better method for getting perfect edges around the nails. After I paint my nails, I cover the polish in a clear top coat, then I soak my hands in warm water for at least 10 minutes (usually I take a shower after painting my nails so I don't have to sit around with my hands in a bowl.) As your skin absorbs the water, it causes the polish to separate from the skin and then you can easily rub it off. Since only the skin is affected, the nail gets a perfect edge!

  • @xena91388 Sometimes I will do that in the morning with a regular manicure, although usually I do at least a little clean up with the brush because I like to have it very clean & even edge at the cuticle instead of polish pooled there =)

  • How do you keep your brush from becoming hard?

Also how do you maintain it? xoxxo Jewelz

  • @thelolalolazz I don't really do anything special with it, it does get hard between uses but once it's dipped in remover again it gets soft again =)

  • This looks amazing and I'm going to try this today. Thank you!!!

  • that water marble design is lovely

  • That's brillient!! :O

  • I know this is a random, personal question and you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but I was just curious if you had Haitian heritage?

  • @FM897 I don't mind =) I am biracial, but as far as I know there's no Haitian on either side.

  • thanks is reeli work

  • can u use tissue?

  • @Bahijeh234 Hmm, maybe - although you would probably not be able to get as close since it is not as precision as a small brush =)

  • I usually scrub nail polish off my skin when I take a hot shower, but this worked really well for the summertime! THANKS!!! :)

  • Did you invent water marbling? I've never seen anything like it before. It's absolutely incredible. Thank you for your posts xD Your voice is very relaxing to listen to as well

  • @Puffley Thank you but no - I read about it on several blogs before I started doing it myself =)

  • What else could you use besides a small brush? because I dont have one

  • @TheGoodluckkitty you can wrap the end of a and orange stick in cotton, or use q-tips - but a brush like the one I use is a lot easier & only a couple bucks at an art supply store like Michaels =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues sorry to butt in, but I have an addition to your comment that might be helpful for those who don't have a small brush :) I wrap the end of a metal nail file with a thin layer of cotton and I use the edge (the side) for cleaning up, sort of like as if I'm filing the side of my nail (only I keep the file surface upwards instead of sideways so I wouldn't accidentally mess up the nail polish) :)

  • @Totogasm this is a good tip - I used to do pretty much the same thing but with the sharp end of an orange stick before I got the brush =)

  • that brush is a FANTASTIC idea! Thanks so much!

  • Do We Have To Wait Until The Nail Polish Is Dry To Take The Tape Off??

  • @andreafonseca09 if you are careful, you can remove it while the polish is still wet =)

  • @andreafonseca09 It's just a bit messy and can mean more clean up than you would have had if you had just left it.

  • Your tutorials are always so helpful & easy to follow - thank you for taking the time to put them together! Hope to see more in the future!

    piggy (^(oo)^)v

  • is there a way to minimize air bubbles?

  • @courtraitt My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • how come some of my nail polishes dont spread. love your designs.

  • @xxninjawanabeexx Every polish is different - some dry too fast or don't spread well for other reasons =)

  • Wow.. I would have never thought of using a flat brush like that to clean up! Thank you so much! I have yet to even THINK about trying the water marbling, but I might get brave one day!

  • When you take the tape off after you marble, do you wait for the nail polish to be dry, or can you take the tape off right away after you take your finger out of the water?

  • @papercandles I usually wait for it to dry, it doesn't take very log, but you can take it off right away if you want =)

  • @zrs109 It is a a manicure, basically a long pointy stick =) You can use anything with a fine point that you don't mind getting polish on.

  • so i was wondering lie do the colors have to match?

  • @carisegonz77 No, you can use whatever colors you want =)

  • I've just recently seen this type of nail designs and I think its gorgeous! Do you have to have long nails like yours? Because mine arent really long like that

  • @xoxoluvKT it works on short nails as well, you just get a little less of the design =)

  • wow good idea. I never thought of using a brush!! I always make a nasty mess on my cuticles !!

  • can you use other polishes like OPI n stuff? or is it just China Glaze trademarked?

Please tell me because I don't get China Glaze where i live :( outside of the north american area :(

  • @redcherrycupcake You can use any brand, although not all colors work. The manicure I'm wearing in this video is actually done with Color Club =)

  • I tried the marble nail art after watching your vids and I am having trouble making the polish color look so vivid as yours..they are more paler, secondly when I pull out my nails there always seems to be water droplets left on the nail, how do you make your nails look so smooth at the end and get rid of the water droplets?

  • @tigerbb101 I always make sure to use a base color, I usually either use white or one of the colors I am marbling with. Mine are also vibrant because of the amount of polish I use.

3 tips for bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • 2 questions.

what kind of brush is best to use in the acetone?

and also.. does the marbling come out as good if you do it on clear nails? (without white polish)

    thanks

  • @ssips720 The one I got is just a normal paintbrush from Michaels, and it is pretty stiff. You can marble without a base color but if you don't have really pigmented polish the design will be more transparent.

  • you are AMAZING!!!!!....I am so doing this for my Birthday!!!!!....Thanks for your tutorials!

  • What do you do to keep your nails growing strong after using so many different nail polishes, cause my nails will start to become brittle and break easier. any tips???

  • @Pr1nc3ss305 I always keep them moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil & I also take a biotin supplement. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tuturial on patching for how I save those nails =) I do "Naked Nails" posts on my blog about every month or so where I talk more about different products that I'm currently using.

  • using a brush is a great idea! i haven't thought of that, i usually take a toothpick and wrap the pointy part tightly with a small piece of cotton and then dip it in the nail polish to get close 2 the sides of my nails

  • they also have nail polish remover pens with a small tip that's great for removing nail polish close to the nails. i love them. just thought i'd let you know :)

  • @dolphin8402 I have used those before & they do work well, but I think I would go through a ton of those as often as I change my nail =) (usually like 4-5 times a week)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues lol wow. yeah, you probably would go through a lot of them then. you do an awesome job with your nails btw :)

  • Love the design, I'm definately going to try it. Is that scotch tape you used to protect your skin? I wonder if vaseline would work any better??

  • @nottooclosepleeze It is scotch tape. Vaseline is another option but was a little too messy for me, I prefer the tape =)

  • Thanks for this tutorial. :) What kind of brush do you use to clean up with? Will any brush do?

  • The one I use is just a small flat brush, I picked it up at Michael's for a couple dollars. It is kind of stiff, but still flexible enough to curve around my curticles. I'll try to add the brand & style in the sidebar later =)

  • The design you have on is beautiful!
