I think in the beginning of the song, he is a man facing a dark moment in his life (dark clouds, chaos and fire). He turns to prayer and receives the Holy Spirit. "I hope he's not like me" refers to the man he will become. After being baptized by the church's healing water, he comes out on the other side where the dark clouds have lifted and the sun is shining. The "arms wide open" signifies the sacrifice that Jesus made for us - if you believe in this - by dying on the cross for us.

@umbc91 Even if that is the case, I was unaware of it. But MY interpretation based on the video and the lyrics is very plausible. Cut me some slack...jack! I came to that conclusion when at the end of the video, he is standing on the top of the mountain with his arms wide open, similar to the statue of Jesus overlooking Rio de Janiero. And yes...I am high!!!

Here it's about the world's beauty, whereas in "One Last.." it's about emptiness, loneliness,..threatening life.
