this is WAAAYYY better than the cn version sure it may be old but this is kinda funny not like nowadays mad is sooo immature they try ssooo hard to be funny!! thumbs up if you agree!!
@MikeMiller48 Bothering to add further, the movie that was made was called "Up The Academy", but was pretty much a cash grab at what Animal House did for National Lampoon.
The Cartoon Network quarter-hour version of "MAD" is closer to the original spirit of the magazine (that is, whatever it's supposed to be these days) than "MAD TV" [a cross between "flashes" of the magazine and a raunchier version of "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE"].
I haven't read anything about Timex being a potential sponsor, 'heine'. I DO know, however, that portions of "The Godfather" parody were seen on a weekly syndicated 1977-'78 magazine series, "SPECIAL EDITION", hosted by Barbara Feldon...and were the ONLY segments of this entire special to be seen on TV.
This was supposed to have appeared as an ABC special in the fall of 1973 (and TV GUIDE confirmed that in their Fall Preview issue that September), but there were complaints from several prospective advertisers about the way MAD parodied certain products, and several segments were deemed "unacceptable" by the network [back then, what MAD could satirize in a magazine you really couldn't do on network TV], so ABC finally decided it wasn't worth it, and cancelled their commitment to show it.
Is there a part two

@SpontaneousJunk I miss what the magazine use to be when it was still B&W inside with no ads (besides the phony ones).

@fromthesidelines And was Timex planned to sponsor this MAD Special?
heine71 1 year ago
@fromthesidelines Until then, today it's appropriate for Cartoon Network to remake it.
