i'm irish :) and i live basically what all those pictures are like.. beautiful scenery.. but this is totally wrong for angela's ashes... living in Ireland during Frank McCourt's time was COMPLETELY different to what it is now.. the catholic church was corrupted.. and they lived in absolute squalor. my own grandmother was a midwife/nurse in the rotunda hospital.. she saw some pretty gruesome sights.. she has more of a clue that anyone as to what is was like...
if your looking for calm or a quiet holiday dont go to limerick or dublin. Theyre very rough but in dublin the nightlife is amazing. Im from dublin meself and its different from the country side. Kerry is amazing :)
Hey but sure everywhere was miserable back then sure with the wall street crash and all. It's just Ireland in general was exceptionally miserable! It's crazy me ma and da still remember rationing dockets from when they were growing up! And now with that feckin recession things may be goin arseways again!
I was a messenger too, and poor, and lived in squalor in the 1990s in San Francisco. Good on anyone who goes through that!

i want to be there someday...
it's a Limerick right?
i'm a fan of Frank McCourt...
His book "Angela Ashes", it inspired me a lot.
I thought I am the only poor in the world that dream a good life someday.

Living in a slum in Limerick Frank would have seen little of the countryside.

Actually if you read his book Angela's Ashes you would see with his job as a messenger he was sent to the countryside quite often.

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I'm more interested in seeing the natural beauty of Ireland, scenery and stuff, rather than nightlife.
