Amtrak is a govt owned railway and its happening there too.  The other day I was randomly pounced upon by 4 undercover DEA agents in a layover lobby in chicago where they insisted they search my bags randomly. If I refused they said theyd hold my bags for days or possibly weeks and send it to me.

In Frankfurt last year I set off the metal detectors with the underwire in my bra, and of course I had to get wanded down. I've been wanded many times, for jewellery or other such things, but this was completely new. I basically got a full body pat-down, with this lady's hand inside my pants and feeling around my crotch. They didn't tell me what they were about to do, they gave me no choice in the matter, the first I knew that this was not a normal scan was when she put her hand inside my bra.

@delaseoul87 - You have a reasonable expectation of privacy from a federal employee putting their hands inside your pants wherever you may be as long as there is no probable cause for search. Attempting to board an aircraft is NOT probable cause, nor is a pregnant woman opting out of a radioactive scan. And the airport is NOT federal property, it is owned an operated by LAWA which is charted by the City of LA. So CA Constitutional authority does apply.

Thanks for your story and for what you did and congrats on the baby! We need more people with the cajones that you two have to tell the TSA and DHS where to stick their illegal and unconstitutional practices. I have vowed NOT to fly until these practices are rescinded. Legislation has been submitted in Texas to ban the body scanners from all Texas airports and criminalizes any airport security worker that does an unwarranted search that include touching of the privates and breasts. GO TEXAS!

Sorry to bust your bubble, the 4th Amendment doesn't protect you from administrative searches. You have no reasonable expectation of privacy in the airport... and it's federal property so the CA Constitution does not apply. You don't have the right to fly, if you don't like it, take the train.

I'm glad that they're taking the train and they're standing for what they believe in, but the law is the law.

Congratulations on your baby! What a lucky child. Catherine, I would have stood up for you at that airport. I'm not flying until this nonsense is stopped. Thank you both for standing up for us. It a shame more people don't get it. By the way, I just got arrested for "resisting arrest without violence" for just sitting in my car and asking the officer if I was being detained when he asked me to get out of my vehicle for no reason. It was GREAT! I'd do it again tomorrow. PEACE!
