I remember watching E3 on tv and I shat my pants when adam said "Any objections lady?" (The moment I found out it was metroid. Also I still think Metroid prime > Super metroid. Only by a little though.
METROID Other M is not a bad game. But, what I find is cool is that the Samus in this game is a perfect match to the original Samus from the METROID manga. So, if you're a METROID fan like me you would have caught on to the hints.
I read the manga quite a while before playing this game, so I really did expect her to be that kind of character. In fact, I WANTED her to be that kind of character. I'm really all for Samus losing her 'statue' projection.
if you are going to play Metroid: other m, forget about all the other metroids because this one is in a another level, if posible we could call it by a diferent name, the only link this game has with the metroid saga is Samus, take out samus and put someone with a ramdon suit you would play it and love it, so stop the crap about it cause this game is really awsome!! i love it and i'm waiting to see more metroid action like in this game!!! :)
In this game you're asked to forget that Samus has spent the last 10-15 years on solitary missions ridding the galaxy of Space Pirates, saving the universe and surviving on her own as a bounty hunter. Instead, Other M expects you to accept her as a submissive, child-like and self-doubting little girl that cannot possibly wield the amount of power she possesses unless directed to by a man.
I heard this game was really bad, that's why I refrained from buying it. Game Informer ranted about how it was difficult to play, and that the plot line was boring and confusing, and they hated the way you didn't get to see the same point of view as Samus, unlike the last games.
@0appleattack0 That's a load of crud, right there. Beyond a few plot holes, the story made PERFECT sense to me (although the monologues DID drag on AT TIMES). And the controls are surprisingly of LITTLE issue. This, combined with the upgrades you get, make you feel EXACTLY how one would usually picture Samus at first sight.Quite a few of the bosses are among the most EPIC in the series in my opinion. The game is linear,but still REALLY fun.It is NOT for the faint of heart in terms of difficulty.
I've never played it, but I want to. It was the Game Informer magazine that had an article about it. I believe I didn't see a single positive thing about the review. I was disappointed in the game because I really wanted to buy it, but they were so negative about it. Thanks! ;) That might be the next game I buy! I like how Metroid is difficult and keeps your heart pumping :) The music (at least in Prime) keeps me alert.

like the decision to not have a 3rd person view,at least as on option in the other metroid games for wii,like prime and its 2 sequels,& they did it again when trilogy came out,i thought for sure they would have included a 3rd person view option when they were rereleased in triliogy but nooo.EPIC FAIL NINTENDO,how hard would it be i mean you sort of have a 3rd person view when you turn into the ball,& there is a code 2 do it in hunters for ds,although its not so good,cuz its just a glitch
i was so psyced 2 finally see a 3d metroid game with 3rd person view,until i found out u have 2 hold the wiimote sideways &dont use the analog stick 2 move,so its not really like a real 3d game,&the fact that u dont collect missles or power,but "concentrate"instead was a huge let down ¬ true 2 the original,retarded.& when i saw the graphics&trailer i thought it was going 2 b the best metroid ever,i havent played it yet but im already sooo disapointed,y do they keep making these poor decisions
@bulletproof2353 PLAY IT. The only REAL drawbacks I found in gameplay was: too short, having to flip the Wii remote to where it faced the screen at times, and at times too broken in Samus's favor (REALLY difficult game if you don't learn to use Sense). The D-Pad isn't a big deal, BUT YOU NEED TO RENT THIS GAME. THERE ARE PLENTY, I mean PLEEEEENTY of other elements that would make you happy. The ONLY expectation you should have for story, though, is for it to tell you about Adam.
@shoopdawoop35 You cant really complain its short, as none of the metroid games were really long. Super metroid took me 5 hours, fusion took me 3, prime took me 40 lol (i was 9 at the time), prime 2 took me 10, I beat prime 3 in a day. Other M took me 8 hours. I agree though, they need to be longer.
To me, this game was much easier compared to prime 1-3. I liked the story line (a lot) and loved theater mode. Also, I liked how the game ended and the epilogue. I also liked how one of my favorite enemies from fusion was in this game (that sentence makes no sense). The final boss (b4 epilogue) was kinda easy. I give this game an 8 out of 10. Oh yeah...Samus' moves were cooool!
@Haktsu You're aware that Samus has PTSD right? And, this was not a rebuilt Ridley either. It was the original. So, I can understand why it would kick in. (All she has fought are Space Pirate remakes.)

@Haktsu Metroid was estimated 20 years or so after K-2L. So, this is the older Ridley Samus faces. Then he is rebuilt into Mechanical Ridley in Zero Mission. Prime series he's rebuilt as Meta-Ridley. Super Metroid, yet again another rebuilt Ridley.
She never once faced the original Ridley that had killed her parents except for now. The young, original Ridley. And, the manga clearly show with her flashbacks to K-2L that she has PTSD.

@casey1693 *facepalm* I know it takes place after Super Metroid. And, there is my point. This is the reborn "original younger Ridley" not the older from Metroid (NES), or his many rebuilt versions. This is the original. (Other factors are present too, the lighting from the lava, could simulate the burning of K-2L.) I have beaten this game 100% and on the Hard Mode many times. So, do not say I have not played it. I have also beaten every game in the series.
I dont know about this, Super M is classic. But the action is this game is great. SM doesnt have much action. My favorite 2d metrod as far as over all game play has gota be fusion. Though in my opinion SM has the best level design. It was great at the time, but iv moved on. Metroid has really become more focused and flushed out these days.
@chaincat22 Sure, the history looks like a remake... If Nintendo was still working with the guys who help them in the Prime series, maybe will be a good Metroid, but work with Team Ninja, that rlly was a big mistake

@hiperstrong well just kinda think about it like 3 bosses u can kill with nearly no effort including the metroid queen(well u would have to have payed attention to the story to no that much) game is so short its kinda sad and finally sense to unlock hard mode u need all items i found 1 item u can never get actuall 2 there are 2 items u can never get u look at da map u try every thing u still cant get them (yes i tryed super bombss missles super missles etc..)so u cant ever get 100% its just sad

@chaincat22 Why would you even bother trying to compare other m to the prime games? If Nintendo had wanted another Prime game, that's what we would have gotten, so they're not really cousins. It's more applicable to compare it to Super Metroid, Zero Mission, or Fusion.
@evilisbliss ya it does i would give other m at least a 3/5 and also u no the auto aim feature? it has a few bugs like if u try to shoot an enemy near u and another is a mile in front of you u always kill the 1 infront of u a mile away b4 the other 1 and alot of enemies were overpowered to early in the game and the 1st person view sux cuz u cant move

@chaincat22 They never seem to judge Nintendo's games based on what they are. I think they're biased towards Nintendo because it won't get on the HD graphics bandwagon. The only games from the company that really suck are from third-party developers who don't give a rat's ass about the games they make as long as the Wii Remote can be incorporated into them.
@MetroidPeter I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that Other M is one of the best in the Metroid franchise. As for Epic Mickey, I haven't played it, so I can't pass judgment on it, though I've heard the camera is an issue at times.

The gameplay doesn't look that good BUT! I have never in my life seen these kind of graphics on the wii! I cannot believe it! Most other graphics on the wii are kinda shit but this game rivals the ps3 and xbox360!
I just beat this today, and have to say I was underwhelmed. It felt like I was playing Metroid Fusion all over again, except on the Wii. The gameplay is very fun, but the game felt too short and not as memorable as the Prime Trilogy. Even the plot twists just kind of made me go -_-. And Samus' voice acting made me cringe more than once. Considering you can beat it in two days, i'd rent it but not buy it. It's a good new direction for Metroid, but Nintendo has some rough edges to work out.
@CookieMcWeaksauce Just because you beat the game in two days doesn't mean it's short. Someone actually beat the game in one sitting, while for me it's going into the third day of me playing through it for the first time.

@BecuzIt Yeah - the gameplay was definitely entertaining, esp. the lat hour or so that followed the credits, but the story and setting was very similar to Metroid Fusion, and although voice acting is a good idea, the dialogue was very poor. It made the plot seem stale. If they can take this gameplay idea and fix up the bugs with a novel plot idea, I'll be sold on the next Metroid title.

1st person, 2D platform, 3D platform and fight. This game is so complete! It's gonna be awesome to play it!
The only thing that bothers me is that this game is chronologicaly before Metroid 4 Fusion, and I'd prefer to play this adventure chronologicaly after all other games. But that's just a detail, there are many mysteries in Metroid Other M. Can't wait to play it.

@casey1693 *facepalm* I know it takes place after Super Metroid. And, there is my point. This is the reborn "original younger Ridley" not the older from Metroid (NES), or his many rebuilt versions. This is the original. (Other factors are present too, the lighting from the lava, could simulate the burning of K-2L.) I have beaten this game 100% and on the Hard Mode many times. So, do not say I have not played it. I have also beaten every game in the series.
So, your argument is invalid!

I dont know about this, Super M is classic. But the action is this game is great. SM doesnt have much action. My favorite 2d metrod as far as over all game play has gota be fusion. Though in my opinion SM has the best level design. It was great at the time, but iv moved on. Metroid has really become more focused and flushed out these days.

i beat it and my verdict:
gameplay: epic but to short
story:more or less main reason why it takes 8 or more hours on 1st run through
controls: hard at first but it gets rly easy as u go on
final verdict 2.5 stars cuz last boss has nothing to do with the plot boss right before makes no sense and ridley dies to easy

@hiperstrong there are two final bosses and that wasnt my only reason the game was awsome but as u go on it makes less and less sense as far as the stary goes on and the real final boss makes no sense because (i no its a spoiler) u have no real clue what it is i mean its a giant insanly ugly space monster i mean rly wat is it? it looks like some sort of mother brain regect or mother brains husband idk its just rly ugly and u need perfect timing or u die in 20 seconds

@hiperstrong well i never played super metroid or watched a play through on it and when u think about it its a bad time for him to show up cuz u beat the game and sure i guess he is a decent boss and all but my real main reason for a 2.5 review is it only takes like 8 hours to beat the whole game while watching all the INSANLY LONG scenes which take longer than your real amount of game play i no its about samus's past but cmmon its just a to easy and short game when u think about it right?

@chaincat22 so... thats your real reason well I got be honest I was very dissapointed too when I beat the game in 2 days , but 2.5 its a bad grade for the game of you enjoyed the game and fell the gameplay wasnt crap that means its good on 2 reviews of this game that I have wached (IGN and Gametrailers) they never complain about that the game was short they just complaing about the story and some parts of the game what those reviews , IGN: 8.5 /10 gametrailers 8.6/ 10

@hiperstrong well just kinda think about it like 3 bosses u can kill with nearly no effort including the metroid queen(well u would have to have payed attention to the story to no that much) game is so short its kinda sad and finally sense to unlock hard mode u need all items i found 1 item u can never get actuall 2 there are 2 items u can never get u look at da map u try every thing u still cant get them (yes i tryed super bombss missles super missles etc..)so u cant ever get 100% its just sad

@chaincat22 Why would you even bother trying to compare other m to the prime games? If Nintendo had wanted another Prime game, that's what we would have gotten, so they're not really cousins. It's more applicable to compare it to Super Metroid, Zero Mission, or Fusion.

@evilisbliss ya it does i would give other m at least a 3/5 and also u no the auto aim feature? it has a few bugs like if u try to shoot an enemy near u and another is a mile in front of you u always kill the 1 infront of u a mile away b4 the other 1 and alot of enemies were overpowered to early in the game and the 1st person view sux cuz u cant move

@chaincat22 They never seem to judge Nintendo's games based on what they are. I think they're biased towards Nintendo because it won't get on the HD graphics bandwagon. The only games from the company that really suck are from third-party developers who don't give a rat's ass about the games they make as long as the Wii Remote can be incorporated into them.

@MetroidPeter I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that Other M is one of the best in the Metroid franchise. As for Epic Mickey, I haven't played it, so I can't pass judgment on it, though I've heard the camera is an issue at times.

I just beat this today, and have to say I was underwhelmed. It felt like I was playing Metroid Fusion all over again, except on the Wii. The gameplay is very fun, but the game felt too short and not as memorable as the Prime Trilogy. Even the plot twists just kind of made me go -_-. And Samus' voice acting made me cringe more than once. Considering you can beat it in two days, i'd rent it but not buy it. It's a good new direction for Metroid, but Nintendo has some rough edges to work out.

@BecuzIt Yeah - the gameplay was definitely entertaining, esp. the lat hour or so that followed the credits, but the story and setting was very similar to Metroid Fusion, and although voice acting is a good idea, the dialogue was very poor. It made the plot seem stale. If they can take this gameplay idea and fix up the bugs with a novel plot idea, I'll be sold on the next Metroid title.

1st person, 2D platform, 3D platform and fight. This game is so complete! It's gonna be awesome to play it!
The only thing that bothers me is that this game is chronologicaly before Metroid 4 Fusion, and I'd prefer to play this adventure chronologicaly after all other games. But that's just a detail, there are many mysteries in Metroid Other M. Can't wait to play it.
