And it was the right choice because the original PAC-10 team that was suppose to play against UM got their ass blown out by Texas Tech. And we all know what happened in the following year against USC :)

@SweepxThexLeg Because USC (Pac 10 champ) was playing Oklahoma in the BCS title game so the Big 10 champ (Michigan) played an at large team (Texas) for being 11-1. It is still Pac 10 vs Big 10 unless one of the two is in the BCS title game.

Texas got an at large to the wrong bowl, they should've gone to the Big 12's tie-in bowl, the Fiesta in place of Utah, and Cal should've repped the pac10.

Michigan was in the game because of the Big 10 tie-in to the Rose Bowl. Texas should've been in a BCS bowl but not the Rose, they should've took Utah's spot in the Fiesta. Then again that's my thought and it'd make 100% when the bowls that year where announced.

Yes. Cal did get destroyed in their bowl game, but still. They were supposed to fill in for USC in the Rose, but Mack Brown and the Texas alums lobbied for this game. I recall many articles where Texas fans wore So Miss jerseys (prob Brett Favre ones) during the So Miss - Cal game.
