The moment where Buddy's on the phone and we see the little green light go out like a candle. We know what's happening. And so does Guy.
The movie plays better in a remembering experience than just right after seeing it. Right away, we feel it's a comedy. After it's over, we've seen a horror-show.

It's heatbreaking. We see why Guy snaps. He should have sooner.
God, him and Dawn. Why does love have to hurt so much?
Buddy keeps asking Guy, "What do you want?" We're asking the same question. Is Buddy trying to send a message to Guy?
The story about Buddy's no-longer wife is one of the movie's best scenes. Because mostly of Spacey's acting, we believe it all.
