I stoped buying gibson 4 years ago. Now I buy epiphone. Todays epiphones are top professional quality way underpriced works of Art! I would never choose gibson over todays epiphones!
Please. This is not really a rock guitar, more blues/jazz but there is no reason you cant play rock on this thing. It just wont have the deep LP sound, Epi really do a good job on all there gear, had a Epi LP custom and was awesone
DUDE i hated that loop on my loop station!, i could never think of anything else to play! ahaha by the way i have the same guitar! how do you reduce the action! for the past two years it was cool then one day i started changing the strings and i was twisting the little wheels on the bridge! and now my action is fucked?
Are you satisfied of this guitar? Can you play also hard rock easily on this?:D i have to buy a new guitar and i'm really interested in this ,I play hard rock is it good for thath kind of music?Or only for blues?
@NetiruM It works great. I play in a band and we play songs like Asking Alexandria, Blessthefall, and A Day to remember and other bands of the such and it sounds just right.
i love this guitar but i have to wait till christmas to MABEY get one and so i wanted to know something. is this a larg guitar or is the body smaller than traditional hollows?
You can gig with almost any guitar if it is set up properly. The only problem I have ever found with cheap guitars is that the electronics are poor. New, even high quality electronics would only cost about $30 so it's a great way to turn a cheaper guitar into a perfectly playable (and giggable) instrument.
Damn, I didn't know you could get that jazzy/bluesy sound out of the Dot Studio, most people who plays this guitar plays it for the rock sounds and completly rapes the guitar to pieces... :<
im gonna get one of these i think in cherry! Everybody plays this jazz shit on youtube (im not having a go at your playing by the way!) and i really hate it, its all the same, boring and repetitive.
Need someone to do a rock demo on one these, get some oasis on or somethin!
@theCRAZZYswede I take it you haven't played one.... Judge a book by it's cover and you may be surprised. How does it even look like a 10 dollar guitar? I think it looks great.
I actually have a 10 dollar guitar, and this looks nothing like it. I got the $10 guitar from a garage sale, and the previous owner had managed to split the body around the ass end, and the finish is all dinged up, and the bridge saddle is a homemade nigger-rigged piece of aluminum flatbar. This Dot looks a hell of a lot better.
@GordoBrown1022 jazz was only good when it first came out and was very creative and fresh. Watch guys on youtube now playing jazz, they all sound exactly the fucking same, same exact licks, same exact tone, etc etc
If you go to Youtube to hear the representative sound of any genre, you're a complete twit. Listen to the blues he's playing in this; it's completely generic, from the backing drum/bass to his playing. Listen to anyone show off the "Metal" or "rock" sounds a guitar is good for, and they all play the exact same chords with the same tones with the same phrasing and so on.
@shutdownthefed Okay... You obviously don't listen to much jazz music. So, I will refer you to two different jazz players. A classic player named Tal Farlow. And then immediately go listen to a New guy in the jazz genre named Kurt Rosenwinkel. And after that, You can come back and ATTEMPT to make an arguement about how they sound the same... Shouldn't be too difficult, right?
I've been playing acoustic since november and I am going to buy an electric soon. If I get an electric I'm going to learn to play a lot of jazz, but i still want to be able to play some rock. Would this be a good all around guitar?
Damn when I said soon I guess I was lying, but yeah I went to guitar center the other day, and I really liked the Ibanez as73 which is the same type as this. The neck felt more comfortable for me. Oh yeah Carfreak was my old account, now I made a new one and have some guitar videos :]
Yes sir... It's a great guitar for any type of music really... Perfect for jazz through experience. I changed up the strings for a better jazz tone tho... But, you could pull it off with stock strings. Guitar has great action as well... So I highly recommend this guitar
Sounds like a blues track...but you're playing some random scale over it-are you playing the major scale or something? It sounds really out of place...
I find that you need the right strings. I use .10s or .11s, but always D'Addario. I got tired of EB Slinky strings, they wear out too quickly and always shoot out of tune. So the right strings are crucial to tuning stability, alongside a good set-up.
bought one at GC a couple of yrs ago only paid $250 they wanted more. Paid $30 to have it set up. I buy things from them not often but found that their prices are not etched in stone. Also have no problem with guitar staying in tune.
Hi, when you paid £210 for your Dot, was it reduced from £370 ish? Mine was, but £370 seems a lot for such a basic, but well made guitar (bearing in mind where it's made). My local shop are sharks, but I know some mid-price Epis are around the 370 mark. It was an impulse buy, no research!! Anyway, great playing. You won't see me on youtube as I'm still rubbish after 30 years!!
I just bought the neck humbucker from that guitar from someone and before I put it into my guitar I was wondering do you think it is a good humbucker?
Well I was going to put it in this one guitar but then I found out it was plywood so I don't know about that anymore haha. The bridge pickup I have is a Dimarzio Super distortion, I got the 335 neck humbucker for like $15 or something. I bought it with other guitar parts.
Hahahaha...this dude knows how to have a good time. Well done and dig your blues!
