  • Most techinical and balanced fighting game ever.

  • What happened dude??!! You were doing great! I almost felt sorry for the machine the way you floated it like that. I swear it's like they cut the gravity in half from VF1. The last time I played VF2, I stopped briefly by a mall arcade, used Kage's high-altitude throw and the float technique to get #1 time. With Kage it's kind of a cheesy way, but with Lau its perfectly legit. Thanks for the post.

  • Amazing considering the time it was made, but VF4 evolution is the best of the series...

  • One of the first games I've ever played in my life. This was when I was 1 year old, I think. o_O Good old days.

  • We must also mention the special mind of Yu Suzuki.Another point here is the way the game is presented. With martial artists showing off(sorry I don't know the of this activity in this area) individually and sparring. They were very courageous to put a "Drunk Boxe" fighter (I am not sure of the name here, but it really has pieces of Kung Fu) during the presentation. The shadow of the bridge...These are very complex moves and I was really impressed at the time. Also this is my favorite char ever. :D

  • Virtua Fighter is the KING of fighting games!!

  • One of, if not the best fighting game of all times.

  • awesome

  • Yo tenía la versión DEMO que sólo traía a Pai y Jacky. Sin duda el mejor DEMO que he jugado, podía estar horas y horas jugando, era genial, era lo máximo.

  • The difference is huge between saturn and arcade!

The arcade version is visually much better!

Ah...yes the background is truly 3d...on the saturn version is a fake 3d(2d high quality bg).

For example, the saturn version I had, there was not that bridge or something that appears on shun di stage on arcade version.

    This game is awsome!

Thank you for posting this video.

  • I just noticed the intro theme rips off a King of Fighters music but leaves out a few blips.

  • dude you really do have some skills there

  • dude you seriously know how to fight. im impressed and thats saying alot. after hours of watching VF2 vids on youtube, you the first person ive come across that knows what they are doing. well done. oh and i would love to give you a run for your money with lion!

  • you are right. its my favourite game of all time!

  • Lion and Pai used to give me fits. I would always dread going against pai. she was so fast

  • The graphics are amazing, the music is awesome and the gameplay is superb. This was and still is one of the best fighting games ever made.

I hope a PSN or Xbox Live Arcade release would be available in a near future.

If Marvel Vs Capcom 2 did it why not Virtua Fighter 2 could?

    This is a CLASSIC indeed!

  • we had this game and VF1 for computer

    great games!

  • did you know that Sega Has Currently Made 368 Games? Thats Alot! This game rox

  • nice to watch but what happen in the akira stage with the level bug ??

  • This IS the best game in the world!

  • @BlakeVII No, Tekken 2 was and still is the best 3D fighting game in the world.

  • @kript0s

no fuckin way! tekken = button smasher. in virtua fighter you need skill.

  • @kript0s You will NEVER convince me that Tekken is the best fighter. It's simply not.

    Virtua Fighter is!!!

  • Try playing it through a regular television!

I keep pressing this, theres a massive difference

  • 15 years old amazing

  • No kidding damn I was obsessed with this game

  • Shun Di was def. that dude tho he was the first of his kind and basically the last no other game has captured the drunken style as good as sega

  • Broken Lau this must be a early version of vf2

  • @ 9:48 celebration fail

  • no, not this. the inferior genesis version

  • highly inferior

  • The game you can buy on Virtual Console is not equal to this one.

This is the arcadeversion, for some reason the one Sega released on Virtual console is the crappy megadrive version.

  • too bad you couldnt come to dural, but akira looks really tough it has to be said

  • that glitch during the first round against akira looks weird through

  • KM65536, you are an awesome player. What joystick are you using?

  • lol how do you put coins into a computer? XD

  • id also say that the saturn does very well trying to replicate the arcade conversion, vf2 was a much more advanced game to convert to home console than for example tekken to ps1

  • I remember when tekken was released the graphics where primitive compared to this and the animation was stifled, the whole game was actually I still dont like tekken.

I remember when vf2 and tekken 2 where released on the saturn and ps respectively. No comparison between the 2 yet the sony guys still argued. I cant understand what went wrong with sega, the saturn, the dreamcast, ect. thier games where always the best.

  • i think tekken was more of a 2d fighter, the game play is essentially 2d and it turns into a 3d view when u grab and throw the other character, vf on the other hand is proper 3d,your always moving around the arena and around the characters. i do think vf2 could have been better graphically on the ps1 than on the saturn

vf2 on the saturn is graphically better than tekken 2 on ps1, yet vf2 was far harder to bring home than tekken 2 was

  • but you could really see the effort am2 put into bringing the best possible conversion on the saturn, i think the reason the saturn failed was due to hype surrounding the ps1, you was seen as cool if u owned a ps1, but all these years later i look back and realise just how great the saturn was for the software it had, yeah it failed in the uk but if u had one of the modified saturns it was gaming heaven, i believe virtua cop on the saturn was the most perfect arcade to console conversion ever

  • i remember playing this for the 1st time down the bowling alley way back when it was new, the best fighting game at the time was street fighter 2 turbo on the super nintendo, but seeing this game was like a million light years away, sadly it doesnt seem so impressive today but at the time this was light years ahead of everything else, and tekken wasnt released yet

  • true. if you didnt experience it back then, you cant immagine how great this was back then. compared to street fighter II on the snes, this was a super advanced war plane compared to a average sports car

  • *like a

  • its funny how when i bought virtua fighter 5 for my xbox last year, i find that virtua fighter 2 arcade looked alot more stylish, i think virtua fighter 2 was such a gigantic leap in terms of graphics that id made u realise just how far ahead it was at the time, when i look at virtua fighter 5 now it just feels like its the usual standard for 3d fighters, virtua fighter 2 was simply amazing for its time

  • true

  • im with you mate vf5 is just an empty clone compared to this. I remember the first time I saw it running in the arcade, it fuckin made me hyperventilate i was that amazed. the coolness, the smoothness of the animation, the ringouts, it was amazing.

  • lol wut

  • what was that WTF (9:40)

  • This is the coolest game ever.

  • wtf is a tekken? ; )

  • I don't think the Saturn version turned out bad at all.... very high res graphics (probably best on Sat) and awesome gameplay... granted, it wasn't arcade perfect.

VF2 is so sweet- it kicks the flying crap out of Tekken.

  • why did the Saturn version turn out sooo bad!?

  • i can't believe we're up to part 5...

  • I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous of your aquisition of that game. I want the arcade version!!!!

  • how can I emulate this game? I got the model 2 emulator, but I can't play it. I got it for this game in the first place so any help would be appreciated

  • My VF2 looks terrible. :(. how i can change it ?.

  • i love this game too, but seeing you play it made me realize flaws. i forget if version 2.1 was in the arcades also...

  • I love this game....i'm italian but I speak english....I played this game when I was little and now I emotions rivedendolo ..... i love!

  • wow, smooth animations, better than the PC oder SAT Versions.

  • Probably my favorite Saturn game. This intro always got me pumped up. Awsome game!

  • one thing i don't get - why is the screen scanning upwards?

    shouldn't it be scanning downwards???

  • this game kicked ass back in the day

  • You know what...even though I have VF5 for PS3 today...I STILL play VF2 for the Saturn

  • Thanks for upping this.

Question though, after b,d+P+G, how did you get FC,d/f+p to launch them each time? I tried it out but no luck.

  • N64 was not capable of perfect ports of MODEL2 games, even if N64 was easier to develope for. N64 simply did not have the polygon performance or texture-mapping capabilities of MODEL2.

    N64: 160,000 polygos/sec

    Model 2: 300,000 polygons/sec

N64 had some graphics features MODEL 2 didn't have but that didn't make up for the low polygon performance

  • model 2 could do 500'000 polygons/sec

  • no, MODEL 2 could do 300,000 texture mapped polygons/sec

  • man i got owned you are right i always thougt for all these years it was 500'000 polygons

  • no it's not pre-rendered, it's 100% real-time.

it's better than Saturn because MODEL 2 was far more powerful than Saturn.

but all you heard back in the day was that Saturn did nearly arcade perfect ports of Model 2 games, which was totally NOT true.

  • You are an idiot. The Saturn did great *PORTS* back in the day.

  • no YOU are the idiot.

Sega did the best that they could, converting / translating their MODEL 2 arcade games to Saturn, but because Saturn much less powerful, there are huge downgrades. they are NOT PORTS.

a PORT is where all of the original arcade assets are brought over to another system, without downgrades, and with MINIMAL changes.

that is NOT the case with Saturn version of VF2 and other MODEL 2 games.

you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • In computer science, porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed (e.g. different CPU, operating system, or third party library). The term is also used in a general way to refer to the changing of software/hardware to make them usable in different environments.

  • Just because they had to "downgrade" certain aspects makes it no less a port, you ignorant little punk.

They did "not" right the code from scratch. Alot was ported over to the Saturn version, albeit "downgraded" and changed.

Now sit the fuck down because you've just been served.

Goddamn noobs... respect your elder superiors.

  • I lol'd.

  • wrong.

  • you can thank Martin Marietta for that

    (now Lockheed-Martin).

they designed the 3D technology for MODEL 2 which powered almost 3 dozen arcade games including VF2.

it's not Dreamcast quality, but it's well above PS1 or N64.

  • what system? well it's not a console or computer, it's an arcade board.

it's Sega's MODEL 2 board, designed with the help of Martin Marietta. they built highend military flight & tank simulators with 3D graphics. Model 2 has MM's texture-mapping & 3D database technology. that's what makes it so amazing for 1993-1994 technology.

    VF2 came out in 1995.

  • is not a conversion.

a conversion would brought better results. maybe, pixel perfect.

the ps2 version is an Emulation. (sad one)

  • Floating Raft!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You just wasted 10:44 of my life. You play through till the last character, repeat the same move over and over. Glitch the CPU to stand over your head. Lose, and then don't bother to continue.

    I hate you.

  • um, yes you can. In 2 and 2.1 there are a couple single combo kills, and not just for Lau. Lau can easily do a 6 hit kill combo, but I believe it only works on another Lau. There are variations (I use a different one than the vid)

  • ok, i have got to ask you... how the hell did you do this? it doesnt work on mame, and that doesnt look like any arcade machine ive seen...

unless, you have the motherboard. if that is the case, still, tell me how you did it.

  • if sega released VF1-4 + fighting vipers + vfkids on ps3 and called it "VF collection" I would buy a PS3.

  • fighting vipers is not part of the VF series k thx.

and VF4 is on PS2 so you can just buy that copy and play it on the PS3

however, VF1-3 + VF Kids + Fighters Megamix + Fighting Vipers 1&2 + Last Bronx - all arcade versions (cept FM obviously) - that would be heaven

  • The arcade version is superior, but the saturn version came close which was a monster achievement and proof that it was indeed much stronger than the PSX (hardly any PSX game had de facial detail and framerate that VF2 had). Model 2 was about twice as strong as the Saturn and PSX. Shun Di's stage alone says it all.

The saturn version had smaller characters, worse shadowing and much less background detail.

  • Arcade version is definately better lookg than on Saturn, but both look great and play exactly the same!

  • it's probably version 1 of the game. they tweaked a few gameplay mechanics in version 2.1

  • Pai Chan needs a total makeover.On

    VF3 & 4 she looks much nicer.

  • oops nevermind

  • thats number 4 atualy (i should know im always gettin own by my uncle)

  • NICE - Interesting bug/glitch towards the end!

Cool way of fighting with Akira, dummying moves et all!

Man i gotta start looking for a VF2 arcade cab too, the memories it brings back, VF2 rules all series, it is supreme!

    Arigato! ^_^

    ~2PS~

  • WTH was with akira???

  • holy s***. youre good.and how did you do this?

  • Of course it's better than the Saturn... it was more powerful hardware.

The Saturn was a port of the arcade version...

  • the Saturn VF2 was not a port, it was a much downgraded translation of the arcade version.

a port would be near-exact. there are no actual ports of VF2 for home systems. even the PlayStation2 version is just a poor emulation.

  • wow man u are a beast at this game i am not as half as good as you in this!

  • Wow, it looks much better than the Saturn's version with its ugly 2D backgrounds

  • The Saturn version actually has superior looking character models... the backgrounds I can live with.

  • no they weren't moron. Akira has fingers in the arcade. does he on the Saturn? nope. trust me, i can't help that you can't see it but the models were dumbed down a bit. the PC version of VF2 is close to the arcade in detail but not quite.

the original arcade 3D backgrounds ruled too. i miss having the bridge in Shun's stage.

  • Wow, Akira has fingers! I've been totally proven wrong on that point alone.

Throw yourself off a cliff, faggot.

The Saturn had much smoother looking character models. Disputing this fact with me makes you a child molester.

  • lol your right this is the best game in the world.

  • he´s playing vf2 model 2 board inside his home.

i dont think he wants to playt against a console-home-arcade-conversion.

he have got a ferrari, you... a box with tires.

by the way...how much cost a vf2 over model 2? just the chipset.

  • If your playing on your TV using the Model 2 Board, your crazy! Your awesome 5/5. If VF5 become online on 360, I want to challenge you ^_^
