  • It is now 2012. YouTube? Not in 3D. But I am pumping it directly to my brain... wirelessly, even. You know, from the screen to my eyes. Oddly, I could also do this in 2008...

  • my desktop... OF SCIENCE!

  • Thank for the laugh piping directly into your brain via Matrix style.

  • ''totally bogus!''

  • Is that a Coors Light in the back?

  • I tried. then i got kanked

  • 2:33 That would be cheating and we will have none of that here! Made me lol xD

    and also

    my ? OF SCIENCE!! :P

  • 2:33 That would be cheating and we will have none of that here! Made me lol xD

  • Dude, if this was 600 years ago you would've been burned at the stake for being a witch/warlock. That happened 600 years ago right?

  • did he say a "cooperative egg"? lolololol

  • It's 2011 and I still don't have my Youtube piping directly into my brain. What the eff?

  • @SouthPawKingOC we still have a few months away from 2012, have faith lol

  • you have to use your fingers to find the SPOT, you have to gently manipulate it and push it to find the spot.

    THE G SPOT

  • lol i watched this video, went to my kitchen, took out and egg n did it in 5seconds lol luck?

  • Something I have realized- mix egg balancing and Loch Ness with Apollo and Kennedy assassinations. I don't know how many times I've seen these shills pull out that herding technique . Phil, no heavy lifting in your job description. If I had no moral compass I could do your job. Guess what? Black holes are not singularities- they are rather cold lumps of matter. So there. Peace.

  • I used the same technique when I stood an egg n_n

  • I wasted 10 minutes of my life but finally I did it! xD

  • Desktop of Science... do you watch Bill Nye the Science Guy? :D

  • @delcardobaybandgeek i kno bill nye's niece!

  • now for ur next trick an egg on egg!!!

  • In 2012 I had better be piping 3D Youtube directly into my brain :D

  • DUDE! i just tried this, and i did it as you were talking about bumps, i did it with one finger on the top and it worked automatically, then i tried your method and i couldnt get it!, i tried it again with one finger on top and it worked again after a few shifts.

    very cool!

  • Don't you have nothing to do?

  • super glue

  • AWESOME VID! I tried this with my kids & it worked right away. Thanks for the fun experiment.

  • Dude! It took like 2 seconds! LOL! Thank You! You are the Master!

  • or you could file a flat spot with a nail file.

  • Eggsactly

  • holy crap this F*****G works this vid is amazing GREAT JOB THANKS!!!!!!

  • You are correct, it has nothing to do with the equinox! I can balance any egg on any day and I do it with only one hand. You can see my video where I balance a raw egg multiple times within a few seconds by searching for "nospam091017".

  • i couldn't do it but my step mom could i wonder if she practices witchcraft.

  • haha took me about 4 mins, but it was worth it =)

  • Actually, youtube supports 3D right now! You need to add a special tag, and of course have a video with two camera angles, but youtube will convert it to different types of 3D (anaglyph, cross-eyed, etc.).

  • yay i got mine standing too!!

  • wtf why are my eggs white

  • because they're bleached.

  • hahahah

  • No, that's actually true.

  • it took me like 3mins to do. cool!

  • It Worked !! Omg i can't believe it , i thought that its impossible to do it , but here comes this guy thats cuts the crap and here you go i did it

  • the desktop..... OF SCIENCE!!!! [big voice] [fade to black] [phil exits] [then spotlight] lol

  • spending more then 4 minutes talk and less then 30 seconds doing, talk to much

  • use super glue. haha it gets kind of erotic when he's doing it ;)

  • good vid, but good idea YOUTUBE 3D ! - that should happen!

  • just SHUT UP! and do the thing.

  • way too much time on your hands there bud

  • we will have non of that HERE!! ahah

  • I've got my own method to stand en egg on end. It works everytime. Just use ur brain and I'll give you small advice... read smth about Gaspard-Gustave de Coriolis. Exactly read about Coriolis Effect. Good Luck :)

  • Very cool...i tried it as soon as the video was over...took me all of 15 seconds to get my egg to stand

  • Ahaha, I've wondered about your many items "Of SCIENCE" as you call them. Are those little homages to Bill Nye the Science Guy?

Even if they arnt, they make me smile whenever I here 'em :)

  • you can sake the egg until the yolk breaks open and is mixed with the white part. takes very long.

  • cows make milk, see

  • Thanks Phil. I used this little experiment for my class. Students got a ripe old laugh at their teacher playing with an egg for so long.

Love your stuff. Great to see people out there enjoying science so much...... we're not alone :)

  • They're also delicious.

  • I've STANDED IT IT's TRUE , and for those who can't stand the egg - HAVE PATIENCE.

  • You're a funny and cool dude!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • man thats so good

i listen to you so much more then my science teachers

i watched yours videos, you a cool guy, this vid helpd wow people thanks.

  • omg i did it on first try!! you are awesome XD

  • I can't even balance my checking account... do it with an egg?? Come on Phil!! Good job, your the best!!

  • whirl the egg - in a sling .. pointy end out .. then pointy end in .. see if that makes a difference to 'relative-ease-of-positioning' upright. Prolly not .. Put the egg in an ultrasonic cleaner tub .. emulsify the inside .. any difference? Again prolly not. Food for thought.

  • Now whats the scientific explanation behind that? Lol perhaps the yolk (being heavier) eventually sinks towards the bottom of the egg after all of the fiddling giving it a lower center of gravity making it a lot more stable. I have no idea, just a guess. Nice vids though

  • The rotation might help. If you rotate in the correct direction (determined by guess), the chalazae will move the yolk towards the bottom of the egg. Birds rotate eggs in alternate directions so the chalazae move the yolk "up" and "down" through the egg so they yolk picks up fresh white.

OTOH, maybe it makes no difference. :)

  • You're vidoes are very interesting. Im a fan of you

  • pointy end down?! come on, let's see that!

putting the fat end down is too easy!

  • nice video.

I did this too on my desktop.. OF KITCHEN!

    not science but KITCHEN!

  • Youtube should be in 3D :P

  • Yeah!

  • Gotta love that desktop..OF SCIENCE!

Also, glad to see you have a female following ;)

  • i love you.... so sexy

  • echo stefanod, why hasn't the discovery channel picked up on Phil? Beats American chopper anyday...

  • You should get your own show on discovery channel

  • I have that same LCD. Nice choice!

  • Same technique to balance coins.

  • you must have a hell of alot of patience... I smashed the poor bugger after my second try!

  • pointless... by 2012 we'll have genetically engineered eggs that will balance themselves!

  • lol 2012 an ad on the corner is saying a ufo will attack us then

  • my desktop OF SCIENCE! haha

  • u are my hero. ive always wanted to do that. and now i know how!!!!

  • thank you so much i finaly did it and i have been trying for years. THANK YOU

  • Phil, you need to make more videos! :-)

  • you really like bill nye the science guy, don't you???

  • Oh. Seems I've also miswrote what I misread. I meant "How to stand on an egg"

  • I misread the title. I thought it read: "How to stand on and Egg." But this was nice too.

  • Desktop... OF SCIENCE! love it to death!

  • voodooo voodoo!!!!!

  • You cheated. You used your psychic brainwaves to distort time and make it be the vernal equinox while you stood up you egg. How else could it be done?

  • love your videos

  • When does this 3d brain downloading youtube start? : P

  • Thanks Phil! I was able to do it with your technique in less than a minute.

  • Phil, you're a better instructor than practitioner. It only took me about 30 sec to stand my egg on end ;-)

  • Bah, need to goto the store for eggs...

  • Desktop... OF SCIENCE!

  • I did this in January

  • Cool im going to try it if phil can do it we can do it.............lol

  • I know for a fact it works with goose eggs!

  • +100 pts for patience.

  • put less than a teaspoonful of salt on

table, in a pile, put egg in salt, blow

salt away.......this also works for salt

    shakers balanced on edge etc.

  • lol nice!

  • Phil has male pattern awesomeness.

  • You have made me LOL.

  • my teacher said that christopher columbus could do it.....but he did it by cracking the end w/ a spoon? cant u just do that?.....or is it cheating?

  • It's because he wants this to appeal to younger folks, kids; just as much as adults. he talks like this in all his videos, in order to do so.

  • That's because comparing to him, you are.

  • lol aw, he's just excited about science.

  • my crazy history teacher said something about balancing an egg on the spring equinox at midnight.

as soon as i got home i googled it and found i could do it any time of the year. so i tried it and it was so awesome!!! haha.

i'm just glad I didn't stay up till 12am to try it.

  • @SusieSpinkle: Did you tell your teacher? I think it would be important so he doesn't spread more unfounded myths to his students.

  • ah stupid youtube, gave me a glitch so I look like a parrot.

...Hey look! THE EGG IS STANDING UP! SWEET.

  • I can't wait to pump 3D egg balancing directly into my head.

  • Don't you mean "Several eggcruciating minutes later"?

It's not like you to miss the opportunity for a corny crack like that Phil.

  • Great gig!

After balancing those 12 eggs, I know a trick that will let your cholesterol level stand on end...

  • Phil, you are awesome.

    SCIENCE! :)

  • Hmmmmm, need show notes to check first.

  • Then there's always the other solution:

Hard boil the egg, smack it down on the flat surface so as to crack on end enough to give it a solid base...

  • But... But that's cheating!

  • @Dunsinane: But... That's cheating! BOO! BOO!

  • Cheating implies that there are RULES. ;-)

  • you don't need to hard boil it. if UR careful, you can cheat anyway -- without cooking...

  • Cool!

  • Yay, Desktop Of Science!

  • I'm such an irrational germophobe that all I can think about is whether you sterilized your desk after that video. =P
