Youtube this: Galileo Mobility Capabilities - That seems like a far better conceptual idea than this thing. The only thing i could think when watching this was, "Are you kidding me? He's going to fall off and smack the back of his skull!"
some people get obese due to medication or problems with their metabolism some people too fat to walk eat the same as a skinny person but have metabolism problems that turn every bite of food into fat
the less we do and the less we move the better? no thanks Japan...(dont mean the wheelchairs, but for every robotic thing else they do...) it's like those robotic toilets...absurd
It seems to me like an old electric wheel chair that is less comfortable for the rider, has a massive, possibly aerodynamic, chunk of plastic on the front, headlights, and makes a lot of noise every time it does anything. Maybe it has other features not listed in the video, but if this is it I can't see any use for it.
remember we're taling about a WHEELCHAIR, for people with injuries. that looks like someone'll fall off so easy lol. i wanna put a hayabusa motor on it.
old ladies right. i work for a disabled man and theres no way he could work that thing. theres no full seat or back so for spinal cord injuries its useless. FAIL
Freeky, I like it, just like the other Japanese futuristic wheelchair video I watched, WOW so futuristic. Do not know how practical they would be for para's or quad's though a great start!
The design of this chair doesn't look very comfortable and since there's no back support it seems like people could just fall out at inclines on ramps and such. Also how would people be able to grasp things when doing everyday tasks like reading, playing on a Nintendo DS, or using a laptop? Who really wants to sit on that all day.
The design is interesting. I suppose entering from the back rather than the front is easier for really disabled people? Not sure. Then again, like some others have said there's no back support.
I found the elderly especially funny, they're just sitting their watching it "oh I don't think we can control it". Elderly have a way of telling the truth very plainly.
OK my main concern would be for the people who need the back support! were is that? you might wanna make a support that flips behind you or raises up. other than that it seems fine. well unless your a guy and u wanna pee off the side instead of getting up then thats a no go lol
my main concern is that you can't do wheelies in that thing. if i were in a wheelchair, doing wheelies would be one of my primary activities :D plus i would want at least some exercise and pushing the wheels is a pretty good way to do that. why do we need all this shit that does everything for us? we're just gonna continue to get fatter and lazier as time goes on with the way technology is progressing. do we really need motion censor paper towel despensers? FUCK NO!
Here's what I see as a down side. You can't do any work in front of you. He have this giant engine that resricks you from signing paper work, accessing doors, etc etc. Not to even mention if you hit into something you have no back with a good chance of falling off. Now I know there are people out there that will say how often could that happen. I've seen it enough times to know it dose.
cool idea but they should really have a back rest and neck rest. i think it might make it more comfortable, a bit more safe (no falling back) and might accommodates people with not only lower body but back/upper body disabilities
Maybe they should add a back rest that swings in place from the side. You always see old people sleeping in their chairs at homes. It looks like people would fall out of this. Even if you could sleep leaning forward it seems like it would be harder to breathe.
I'm not in a chair for being obese but because my legs and lower spine were destroyed. I still support myself, a spendy chair, a big van, and a special house. I get bilked by exploiters for all medical needs. (Can't do without them.)
Although I look obese, I bet my fat levels are lower than yours. My lymph system is "toast" so I can't process waste fluids. If I stop drinking, I die.
Why do you spend most of your energy hating me? Did I get drunk and mow you down?
@cliffwalkinfool I think you misunderstood what I'm saying. I'm talking about people who are in wheelchairs BECAUSE they are obese and can no longer walk around. I'm sorry if I offended you, but your condition was not in my crosshairs. Anyway, have a nice day.
LMAO, I was thinking the exact same thing when the guy got on it. I don't think there are enough products out there to protect our little buddies down there. I mean, look at bicycles.
I think it needs a back, before reading the comments I thought I'm gonna be the only one who thinks this. Looks like everyone else agrees. It would probably be fairly good if it had a back support.
