LOL!!! JL Audio ain't the best subs for Sound Quality. Don't get caught in the hype. If you want a good sounding sub, well it depends on your enclosure, amp, install etc. Try look at Kicker, they used Square subs and won the SQ competition long time ago. That's a prime example, of how a non SQ sub can sound good at the same time. Also if I had a choice in good sounding subs, I would look into Critical Mass UL-12, FI Q, TC Sounds, Image Dynamix IDMAX, RE SE etc. many brands

@thxsubwoofers LOL MY ASS!!!! Thats your opinion. I had two 12 L7 on a memphis MCD 1100 watts rms and they did sound good but when I got two w6 on a JL 1000 I knew instantly which subs were "THE SHIT" and which sub at that point "Were NOT". (hint, hint) THE SQUARE SUBS ARE NOT BUDDY!

@HCVETERAN JL is good sound quality, but for the price you could get so much more out of something else and still get perty much the same quality, and louder. i have one 10 inch FI Q in a ported box at 30hz on 1000rms in trunk and hit a 138db with one ten. and there was a guy there with two 12 inch w6's and about 800rms on them and he only hit a 137 something. and i still have just as good sound quality, JL is over ratted

It's actually a subjective question for purpose. These subs require much more power than the P3 Rockfords, and cost more. Bass heads want this sub, people who just want less will settle with the P3.

In a proper enclosure with proper tuning, the DD's are far louder. Keep in mind that you WILL spend a lot for this "far better" bass. Minimally, I wouldn't invest anything less than the 1500 series DD subs, 12" models, no less than a 1500Wrms amplifier for those subs, and with a ported enclosure tuned to about 33hz for best low-end bass.

i agree, DD are amazing for spl and have very good sound quality. A friend of mine has a 12" DD sub and it beats 2 15"s.

Plus they are very durable, hes had his for about 2 years with no problems.

I think that he meant that having 2 in there takes up to much room and does not allow sufficient air flow from the port or the front of the subwoofer. I would think that he should turn them around and put the seats down to get the extra air.
