Wireless worked out of the box? Really? That's pretty special for Linux - I've spent days trying to get an old Acer laptop's wireless to work with ndiswrapper with no luck, eventually trashing the laptop in frustration and necessity (it was an old machine which was pretty well buggered anyway).
@kenan6346 if you have the right chipsets wireless usually is not an issue. Newer Broadcom chips work as Broadcom has started open sourcing their drivers into the kernel now. Intel chipsets work fine as well for the same reason as Intel contributes the code for them into the Linux Kernel as well. Some that work that are hit or miss for me have been Anathros and Ralink Cards. But sometimes it is just simply the GUI daemon that is an issue so try some of the alternatives
@kenan6346 like wicd or knetwork manager instead of the normal Gnome manager again sometimes its just the daemons that are issues. From the CLI usually involves using the modprobe command to see if your hardware is detected by the kernel
@kenan6346 yeah i tried ubuntu 11.10 on the same laptop and i am suprised it actually works, i had 2 use fedora with my old laptop because it didnt read in ubuntu

@seinormexicano I think I just had an old laptop with a particularly dodge wireless card. Newer laptops are probably much better.
