Like Vin Rock from Naughty By Nature said, we need more Mr. James Evans in our houses. That way these kids will stay their behinds off the streets yo.
Why did Thelma ask Michael where he got a real dollar? Wasn't she standing there when he said, plain and clear, that he had two dollars saved to go to law school. In fact she was standing right next to him. I have never understood why she asked that
@lovelynann Your right, But there are still plenty of poor folks who have faith in God. And when times get bad financially, God is all we have to trust in.
Didn't the guy that comes in @7:08 play the role of the director that suspends Thelma after they protest outside her school in Season 3? That's the episode when she and Ebe started digging on each other.
I remember in the 70's the city bus was 5 cents, gas was 50-70cents a gallon, double feature movie with popcorn and soda was $ 1.25-1.50, in the late 80's when I was a teenager i got my first car and gas was 99 cents a gallon I thought $ 1.09 was too high, oh candy was 1 cent, lemonheads/charlie chans/alexander the grape/johnny apple were 5 cents a box, and candy bars as snickers/reeses/hersheys were 15 cents... oh yeah Jesus is a colored man like his FATHER all colors belong and make up GOD
IN THE 70'S--- with a $1.00, I could buy a bag of chips (full bag), 15 cents;16 oz soda 30 cents, a candy bar 15 cents for 60 cents & 25 cents worth of penny candy & still have 15 cents left. Bus fare was 15 cents. pay phone was 10 cents. gas 79cents gallon.
my first apt, I was 19 yrs old in 1983, was 250 month. It was in a Victorian House in Balto, 1 bdroom- walk out terrace, 1 full bath, full kitch; living/dining room-all hrdwd flrs; back yard washer/dryer & of course Central Air.
@82CARVER wow, that is amazing ! gas is up to 2.09 a gallon now. rent is up to 500-700 dollars a month, now a days. uh,yea. can someone hurry up and build a time machine now, we need one!
@82CARVER >>>Wow! I remember those days so well when I was a teenager in the late 70's!! Going to the movies was only $3.00!. Bus fare in New York City was only $30 cents! Now in NYC, it has just jumped to $2.50! Now when my kids go out they need a weeks salary to have a good time in the city! Florida should have just supported James in getting the money! A lot of brothers and sisters play pool in the neighborhood to get up money! Just let James do what he needs to do to support his family!
@82CARVER In the '70s in Cleveland, at McDonald's, my pay was 90 cents per hour and the city bus charged 55 cents for one ride, no transfers. This being said, I moved to NYC where I got rent stabilized apartments, often sharing them. I ended up expatriating in '94. So much for the American dream. I needed healthcare.
Well in the 1970's just like today, there was a horrible depression, people were outta jobs and the cost of living was much lower than it is now, I'm sure no one pays $104.00 for rent these days not even in the projects ~ Trust me $104.00 for rent at that time was expensive!!! ~ People are still having the same problems today but their rents are quadriple that of the Evans' family....
Thelma was looking pretty fine back then. She looks better then the women they got on T.V. today.
