  • this track is just pure magic

  • Who thinks Aesop, Immortal Technique, and Diabolic should do an album together.

  • @blackbird2390 don't know much about the hiphop scene do you?

  • @blackbird2390 fuck no

  • Cloudy days of nostalgia watching dragonball z on toonami and playing street fighter. Fuck....

  • @djMICHAELBOWDEN

    say word

    except it was tekken

  • What this is this is how you go about each day with your two feet on the ground trying the best you can learning from all shit you go though and being and honest man in a terrible sinful world reach for the sky but beware of sharks in the water

  • legendary.

  • Where can I download this?

  • Aes nd blockhead!!

  • thank you senorita for holding a flame to a lost wick

  • what the name of the woman voice sample at 0,51sec

  • This Song Goes TOO Hard!! <3 Favorite Song Off Of Labor Days :D

  • Sick

  • You want to know how to write lyrics. Study Aesop Rock. Future generations will look upon this album as a brilliant description of early 21st century psyches.

  • the whole album is a masterpeice!!

  • "There's smoke in my iris,

But I painted a sunny day on the insides of my eyelids,

    So I'm ready now,

    (Whatcha ready for?)

I'm ready for life in this city,

And my wings have grown almost enough to lift me."

  • LOL DURACELL BATTERY AD BEFOR SONG hahahha

  • I fucking hate rap, but these guys are just too good. They transcend music genre barriers.

  • @CobraCommander51 One guy...

  • @CobraCommander51 There's a lot of other good stuff out there that's just like this, you just gotta dig around. I was the same way about 4 years ago, I hated hip-hop, then I started discovering shit like this. Btw, Aesop Rock is one dude.

  • @CobraCommander51 dont be biased, please.

  • this song forces daydreams into my mind, even at night...

  • this shit reminds me of the rain forest for some reason, this may be one of the greatest songs ever.

  • The horn makes this song absolutely amazing!

  • sometimes i think he just puts random words together and makes it sound intelligente. EXAMPLE: traped space monkeys with rockerfeller and ford, well it appears the perception didnt bypass the protons of the classical vinyls...etc.

    but his are sicker

  • @iwantausernameful Don't overlook the past, which is what made now, now.

  • @MozGunz the dystopia within the caged aligator which seemed, teemed with life gives no shelter to the leaves of forribidn fruit. yo i hugged eve with a lock and chain hoping that one day that the star ringed.....

  • this dude, is ... a fallen angel.

    lyrics not of this world

  • Every time I listen to this, I'm taken aback at the talent this song has. This has to be the highest quality rap song out there....

  • @grand5651 That sounds like this is the only song of his you've heard. If that's the case, you should do urself a favor and listen to the rest. Just be prepared to have your mind BLOWN!

  • omg.... Lyrics! OMFG LYRICS!! LYRICS!!!!! how dose he come up with any of this........

  • Masterpiece

  • I like him. He isnt like idiots (eminem) who prattle on about not being fake/about his "STRUGGLE". He's one of the most popular rappers ever, he isn't struggling. This guy is creative and he puts his time and money into making art like this.

  • @FSM1138 ...funny what you mentioned about eminem, considering he bit the F*** outta Cage's style

  • @KneeDeepInThought why would he do that? cage fucking sucks.

  • @kannabiz420 Before Cage turned emo he was one of the rawest, illest fools to ever pick up a mic. Now I can't say that Em bit his style, but you can't say that Cage sucks. Do your homework.

  • @kannabiz420 Everything Eminem raps about, Cage actually lived through. ...like the video where he's in a mental hospital.

  • @KneeDeepInThought So you're telling me eminem has been rapping about cage's life the whole time? Damn hipster delusions....

  • @kannabiz420 Never said he's rapping about Cage's life. It's more that he bit his image than his style. He raps like he's crazy n uses all these drugs, then in "I'm Shady" he says "Well, I do take pills, don't do speed, Don't do crack don't do coke, I do smoke weed, Don't do smack, I do do shrooms, do drink beer, I just wanna make a few things clear"

Then in the video for Real Slim Shady he's in a mental home, Cage was in real life. Not a delusion. Like Reachwun said, do ur homework

  • This, song depresses Me..But its worth listening too

  • truest, most powerful words ever spoken?... simple.. "Everything Leads to Erosion"

thats the deepest thing ive ever heard i dont think most people understand this

  • aesop is one of a kind,

  • Now where I live theres a homeless man

he sits upon a crate, he makes a rusty trumpet sound like the music that angels make

now if you ever come visit me I suggest you watch the show

tell em aesop rock sent you just to hear his horn blow like this

If your from NYC you know exactly what hes talking about. Aesop is so brilliant, Figured I would fill that in cause something just made me listen to aesop a few minutes ago. Reading and Listening to Appleseed. So many quoteables with Aesop.

  • Some are burning, some are frozen.

Some deserve tall tales, some wrote 'em.

Some are just a brutal repercussion of devotion.

Mine are all of the above 'cause everything leads to erosion.

  • wow... there is at least one advanced outer-galactic being, rapping.

  • "Yo change the fucking channel."

That line is just everything I want to hear, it's like it's letting me know that this song is going to be interesting and important and not just some generic same old boring song

  • Just. Ridiculous.

  • Walt Whitman does hiphop

  • @HalTuberman are you calling Aesop homosexual?

  • badassery!

  • pigeons and planes!

  • The most awesome and quotable song ive ever heard. Maybe the best song ive ever heard period!

  • "Saw the liquid dreams of a thousand babies solidify,

and picked a rose that wilted the second I introduced myself as nervous"

  • reminds me of planet caravan

  • @5LMNTs What?

  • Passing the time with serial coloring book and marbles, dont tell me you at the droid that held the charcoals, dont tell me Lucifer God dond car pool., this is our schoool!

  • @jwilliams1er "Passing the time with serial killer coloring books and bags o' marbles/ don't tell me you ain't the droid that held the match to the charcoals". His lyrics are hard to get at sometimes but always rewarding to pin down. This song is for sure one his best, and I'm tempted to say Labors Days is his best albums. The beats are so lush and have so much depth.

  • the day my halo ran out of helioum

  • "I wanna be someting spectacular on the day the sun runs outta batteries"

    SOO SIckkkkk!

  • finally an rapper that dont prattling about liquidating indivisuls

  • Battery stretches the limits of hip-hop pastoralism with a bass-and-cello figure and more of those fluttering coos with Aesop intoning, "Brother sun, sister moon, mother beautiful," and, "I painted a sunny day on the insides of my eyelids."

  • The sample is Prelude in C# Minor by Herbie Hancock. Can't post links for some reason, but try a search on Amazon MP3 for it. The album is "Gershwin's World" and you should be able to recognize the sample from the preview on the site immediately.

  • Dont tell me Lucifer and God dont car pool........

  • Like this ~~~~~~~~~ I aint getting any younger~~

  • hey YO! this seample with female voice is soooooo dope, where his from !?

  • dude we are talking about different samples-

around 1:55 the warm sound is some kind of a flute, an oboe is possible too, at this qualaty it is hard to distinguish.

around 2:05 the sound that kicks in after the "like this" is a sax, The mechanic to create a sound(using a wet wooden plate) is used in some orental instruments too.

  • i hear strings, flutes and a sax not in that order

  • isn't the sample a sax rather than a trumpet ?

  • @strouze its not a sax or a trumpet but that doesnt matter

  • @NimhGC so if its not a sax, what is it ?

  • @strouze it kinda sounds like a punji or bin (the snake charmer instrument) or an obo or clarinet, cant really totally sure but its not a sax or trumpet for sure

  • @NimhGC It is a sax. The trumpet sound was programmed into it during post-production. A friend of mine met Aesop after one of his shows and told him himself

  • Amazing how well this album has stood the test of time. The definitive underground hip-hop album of the 00s (even better than The Cold Vein), and one of my fave hip-hop albums period. I do get tired, however, of every underground rap song having comments under it about how Lil' Wayne sucks - we get it already, you're alternative and real, whatever. And just FYI, Lil Wayne is a really good rapper, that is just a fact.

  • i hate how everyone thinks lil wayne is so good i mean listen to them does lil wayne have anything better i wish everyone knew what what the genre rap really sounds like aesop rock definitely sound like rap

  • has anyone ever seen this homeless man?

  • @he11sbe11s

no, unfortunately their was smoke in my iris at the time...

  • this is such a good song.

  • WHAT IS HE TALKIN ABOUT???

  • @internetkiddie "WHAT IS HE TALKIN ABOUT???"

he's talking about the failure of the american dream, and how the american society has been tainted.

also, the homeless man as repeatedly mentioned throughout the song, may be a metaphor for aes' own artistic tribulations.

like the homeless man, aes is barely scratching out a living despite the fact he's created such beautiful masterpieces.

  • @cmac2191

really sick cover art nice, organized response

  • @cmac2191 this guy really should get thumbs up for that comment an bump the (i came) dude out

  • @cmac2191 Word!

  • Comment removed

  • @cmac2191 We should buy his albums instead of listening to them for free on YouTube.

  • @MrSlaytanix if i bought all the albums i listen to i'd have no money left for drugs and taking girls out. now that would be no good....

  • @InstantlyDiscredited But you could get high off the music and women would want to sleep with you :O

  • @MrSlaytanix Yeah.. cause that makes sense..

  • @InstantlyDiscredited /sarcasm DUMBASS

  • @MrSlaytanix A sharp tongue gets you nothing but a sharp knife in your back. I guess your parents didnt teach you that.

  • @InstantlyDiscredited Because stabbing someone over words is reasonable. Wonderful parenting.

  • He's good, I must admit

  • Im ready for life in this city

And my wings have grown ALMOST enough to lift me

    swoon

  • FUCKING LOVE this song...I go into a trance whenever I hear it...

  • no, hes behind his time

    hip hop is dying

  • i dont think hip hop is dying yet but it will be soon, its kind of peaking right now, and like hair metal in the 80's it has become mostly recycled pieces of crap that only talks about girls and money, ELECTRONIC MUSIC WILL TAKE OVER!!!

  • and i ain't gettin any younger
